146 All Alone To Their Wrath

James ran to the spot Connor was at, rushing to see what it was that made Connor say such a thing.

The minute he saw what Connor had seen, he tried his best not to yell.

Noticing his brother's reaction, Connor explained, "By the color of the blood stain..."

"It was recent, meaning it might probably be Emma's," James said, nodding slowly.

He chanted to himself, 'Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry.'

"And you don't need to exact tests to know that this probably matches the time Emma came," Connor said grimly, staring at the freshly dried reddish-brown bloodstain that was most likely Emma's - which it was.

James exhaled heavily.

"She's not," he said.

"There's no way," he assured himself.

"My girlfriend is somewhere out there, alive," James told himself.

He was bottling up his emotions, compartmentalizing whilst putting on a brave face as he tried searching for clues to lead him to where his girlfriend was.
