'Augh... how can a fruit taste so gross' Kaito inwardly complained as he threw away the fruit after taking a bite out of it.

Suddenly he felt something different in his body, he couldn't put a finger on it but he's sure that it must have something to do with the legendary fruit.

Earlier when Kaito turned 3 years old, his mother would always tell him stories about pirates and marines fighting each other using weird powers that normal humans couldn't comprehend.

She told him that there was one power that can make an average human into superhuman.

The devil fruit, a legendary treasure that was said to give powers that can turn a normal being into a godlike one.

Most ordinary people didn't believe in it due to how rare it was except for him, surprisingly I didn't have any doubts toward the stories my mother says.

'Pirates and marines? that's normal in this world, Devil fruit? they 100% exist' It was what my first instinctive reaction was after hearing the stories, I didn't felt surprise at the fact that this world was dangerous.

I couldn't comprehend why I was feeling like that, Its as if I already knew how this world operate and works.

Then I can only conclude that it has something to with my memories... no more precisely my past life memories.

When I was about to turn 3 years old, memories of my past life started gushing out of my head but it wasn't about the memories of my life, my name, what my family names was or even what I was like back then... no it was about two things.

The first thing I remember was the experiences I had when I was a magician, not the kind that uses real magic but the kind that performs tricks for the amusement of the audience.

Th other thing that I remembered was loving one certain anime, the [ Magic Kaito 1412 ] it was a series about a boy using his wits and tricks to perform amazing feats in order to steal valuable things.

'Why were the only thing I remembered are these 2 things?' he questioned inwardly while feeling confused.

The most surprising thing was that I got the exact name of my favorite character in the series, [ Kaito Kuroba ] it was the protagonist name on the anime.

I put all of these thoughts back at my head, maybe I'll be able to find answers in the future but right now I wanted to keep enjoying this second chance of life.

Back to the present

"Kaito where are you? I've finished my work here" Ben shouted loudly while having chopped logs on his shoulder.

"I-I'm here!" Kaito stuttered in surprise as he immediately rushed back towards his father.

"Where have you been? you looked like you just found a treasure or something" Ben stated as he narrowed his eyes to look at him.

"Haha~ I'll tell you later" Kaito chuckled as he replied.

Ben just nodded his head and smiled bitterly at the antics of his son.

"Well we should go already, we can't keep mother waiting" Ben suggested as he started to walk back home.

Kaito nodded his head as he followed his father towards home.

"Your cooking is always delicious mom" Kaito praised after gulping a glass of water.

"Ara~ thank you dear" Elena replied with a warm smile.

"So why don't you tell us what you found Kaito" Ben asked as he sipped his water.

"Hmm~ did you found something Kaito?" Elena questioned as she tidy up the plates.

"Ah that's right I found the legendary devil fruit" Kaito said with an excited smile.

"WHAT!?" both of them exclaimed as they paused whatever they were doing just now.

"W-where is it now?" Ben stuttered as he tries to calms himself down.

Kaito smiled and patted his belly as if implying that he already ate it.

"Y-you ate it!? are you okay? do you feel sick?" Elena bombarded him with questions as she rushes to him, checking every part of his body for any abnormalities.

"I'm fine mom, in fact I feel even better before" Kaito stated with an excited face.

"B-but what if..." Elena responded in a nervous tone.

"Elena calm down" Ben said as he patted her shoulder.

"Son can you give us some time to discuss this, why don't you go to your room first" Ben suggested as he glanced at Elena.

"Alright..." Kaito replied as he walked to his room while taking one last glance at his parents talking to each other before closing the door.

"I shouldn't have told him stories about the devil fruits" Elena said with sad look as she gazed at the door to Kaito's room.

"Nobody would have expected that there was a devil fruit in the island" Ben said.

"But what if he leaves this island... " Elena said worriedly.

"We don't know that... what if he stays and do nothing" Ben stated to reassure her.

"You know our son... with the devil fruit power in his hands, it would only urge his curiosity to explore the world" Elena stated with a sad look.

"If he does decide to leave... then the only thing we can do is support him" Ben stated with calm look.

"What if he gets hurts, you know how dangerous the seas are" Elena asked as she imagined him getting hurt or even worse.

"Then we train him, enough to be able to survive" Beb suggested with a reassuring look.

"Hah~ can we really do nothing about it?" Elena sigh as she asked him.

"Yes, we can't force him to stay here, he has the choice to leave but only when his strong enough" Ben replied with sad tone.

"Hmm~ maybe it's time we have another baby" Elena said as she looked at with warm smile.

'W-what' Ben thought as he paused for a minute after hearing what she said.

While the two of them continued they're discussion about having a baby, they didn't know that Kaito had already started playing with his devil fruit powers in his room.
