Chapter 95

Grey subconsciously casted tier 1 combination spell, [Bright Light Enclave], he was immediately covered by a sphere of light.

This subconscious response was due to the large spikes on mana around him, his body had felt that he was in immediate danger, thus it protected him.

It was not only him who had some of protection spell around them when they felt those spikes of mana.

As Grey recovered his thoughts to look around himself, he saw Qila, Lt Halifax, Miranda and Lt Ward covered in protection spells, and these were the people he knew.

Grey like the people who had protected themselves looked around for the source of the threat the his body perceived, when he finally found it, Grey could not believe it.

It was something he thought he would not see as a lowly tier 1 mage, he expected to see something like this as power house.

The 12 tier 4 mages who were at the front of the forces from Arin were all casting what could be guessed to be tier 4 combination spells simultaneously.

"What are they doing?"

Grey heard William absently speak next him, the fellow did not have a protection spell, but he could feel the large amounts of mana being sucked towards the aforementioned tier 4 mages.

William looked like he had all the blood on his face drained away as he seemed very pale.

"Casting spells."

Grey answered with short words.

'I guess they are starting the war with style.'

Grey raised his head as he looked up in the sky as the tier 4 mages started to flout up.

The mages immediately released their spells towards the Ruhenese who were waiting in ordered groups in front of the walls.

The way the they started the battle was exactly the same way that Ken Wright used to start the last battle of Edward's Crevasse, it seemed that Alexandria was serious about her revenge.

"The power of tier 4 mages still surprises me."

Grey could feel his body subconsciously trembling as he looking at 12 powerful tier 4 spells targeting the Ruhenese.

Grey saw all manner of spells from the elements from Light to Darkness being used by the 12 mages.

The people from Arinese side saw giant spinning snowflakes, great lighting storms, giant magma life forms, life drain domains, giant shadow life forms that spewed out destructive breath attacks and many other attacks.

Grey had to hold himself from running away as he saw the display of power from the tier 4 mage.

Grey was not the only one who had to held down to prevent themselves from subconsciously running away, he saw Lt Halifax holding William down afraid the young fellow would run away.

Grey looked to his left and saw Cassandra being chased by Sophia, the girl seemed to have seen her greatest nightmare.

Grey saw Qila looking at him asking if she should do something, Grey only glanced at Sophia and put the matter of his mind, Qila understood that he did not care, thus did not get involved.

Miranda and Scarlet also just ignored Sophia chasing Cassandra.

They did not care if the chase continued, Cassandra could be executed for deserting, but the people understood that the girl was having a subconscious response to the pure power of a tier 4 mage.

BOOM!

That was the sound of Sophia tackling Cassandra.

If the mages were trembling and having a flight or fight response, the normal human troops were just frozen and not able to control their bodies, like a deer caught in the headlights of car.

This response was considered mild for the Arinese because they were not the ones being targeted by the tier 4 spells, the Ruhenese soldiers had just had all their motivation striped from them.

The Ruhenese regular soldiers had also were frozen in fear and dread and could not move.

However since they were the targets of the spells, there cases where some of their members died just from the pressure of being targeted by 12 tier 4 spells.

The most mild case for the human soldiers were a soldiers losing control of their bladders or bowels.

Even though these soldiers were veterans that had fought many battles, they were still just normal humans, how could withstand the pressures of tier 4 mages.

The Ruhenese mages at least did not shame themselves like that, the worst that had happened were certain mages violently convulsing in fear.

Their bodies simply could not have a proper response to the fear that was injected to them, thus simply convulsing and thrashing around.

"Don't underestimate me Alex!"

A small moment had just passed for of that to happen since the spells started to materialise, Commander Ken Wright would not allow the spells to hit.

Ken Wight took a quick glance at the tier 4 mages that were deployed to this battle, there were a total of nine tier 4 mages with him included, thus they were disadvantaged at that front.

Ken Wright did not despair, the mages he had with him were the best that Ruhen had to give, they had the best training, each one of them was elite thus he was not afraid.

"SHOW THEM WHAT YOU GOT!!"

Commander Ken Wright's voice travelled through the entire battlefield, it worked both as a motivator and an order to the Ruhenese army.

The soldiers who were despairing got their morale back from just his voice.

The tier 4 mages immediately started casting responses to the spells that could kill the thousands of Ruhenese mages and regular troops if they were allowed to impact.

"PREPARE FOR IMPACT!!"

Grey had a shout that travelled the whole battlefield on the Arinese side.

There were veterans who experienced the impact of tier 4 spells in the last battle of Edward's Crevasse, thus they were aware the secondary casualties were possible.

Grey thought of his [Bright Light Enclave], the sphere of light that was still surrounding him, and remembered Lt Michael Sergei's recount of his time in this war.

Grey could see the Captains putting up large barriers to protect the normal soldiers, they would not allow for secondary casualties to happen like last time.

The mages were expected to protect themselves, they had the ability, or were at least expected to as mages who had survived the war to this point.

Grey immediately casted tier 1 combination spell, [Layered Flame Reflective Barrier] right on top of [Bright Light Enclave].

The red barrier made of fire seemed designed to reflect shockwaves was in front of Grey, it was not only Grey who had put up their defences.

Scarlet and Miranda had used combinations spells made by the spells which were strengthened by Grey's Magic Ring.

Qila seemed to have been surrounded by a sphere made of black waters, a small distance away, Sophia and Cassandra were covered by a rainstorm type enclave.

Sharon and Ilse seemed to have casted two defensive spells and layered them together to form a double barriers.

It was a grand view, seeing all the mages from both sides all deploying all types of protection spells.

Even though the two sides were separated by kilometres, the two sides behaved as if they had choreographed the whole thing.

If view from the atmosphere, two giant colourful masses of spells met approximately in the middle of an open stretch of land whilst the opposite sides lit up in different colours.

BOOOOMMM! BOOOOMMM! BOOOMMM!

SCREETCH! VRBRROOM! CRACKKK!

BEEEEPPPPP!

Grey felt his ears ringing even when he had protected them with mana and was protected by two spells.

"I am still alive."

PANT. PANT. PANT.

Grey breathed heavily as he observed the land, all he could see was a giant plume of smoke and smoke, [Bright Light Enclave] was the only spell left and it had cracks all over.

'How many tier 1 mages survived that?'

"PROTECT THE ARTIFACTS!"

"They have infiltrated the walls!"

BOOOMM! BOOOM! BOOM!

Before Grey could understand what had just happened he heard explosions going off in the direction of the walls.
