The peoples of the battlefield looked in awe as the Legendary spell materialised.
The so called legendary spells are special spells that do have much more power than spells in their tier.
The spells were difficult to find, the royal family and some noble families from Arin had these spells as far as Grey knew.
They protected these spells with their lives and only gave them to their promising descendants.
The military also had these spells, but they were more expensive that talent increasing treasures to change for.
'My first viewing of a Legendary spell, I still need lots of merits to exchange for something like this. If I can get one and study how they are designed I should be able to design my own arsenal.'
Even though Grey had to be supported by Hans, he was still in awe as he looked as the phantom that represented the reaper materialised.
The phantom was wearing black robes and had the body stature of a male individual. The phantom was wearing a mask with only the holes for the eyes.
When people looked into those holes, they all felt like they had gazed into the abyss, so it gazed back at them.
Many of these people were vomiting and crying in hysteria, something that would not be expected from battle hardened veterans.
Upon seeing this response, Grey made sure not to gaze upon those eye holes, he did not want to embarrass himself.
Though the same cannot be said about Francesca as she went down on her knees and vomited all that was in her stomach, she was just too curios, at least she was not crying hysterically.
"Damn that Prince! Fuck that Prince! Ruining everything!"
Francesca cursed as she wiped her mouth and struggled to stand up again.
"Girl, you should run. Such a spell is not made to kill one man. I can guarantee that after the death of the tier 4 mage, you Ruhenese dogs are next."
Commander Hans Ignocia said with unrestrained killing intent.
Francesca looked towards the commander with an unreadable face, he could only guess what was going through her head.
'I know what you are trying to do old man. It seems that you don't have the confidence to protect him, you would rather threaten me and let me get away.'
Francesca looked towards Grey who had been looking at the Legendary spell whilst being supported by commander Hans Ignocia.
Grey felt her eyes as they bored through his body as she glared at him, thus he turned to look at her with a calm face.
'Crazy woman indeed, trying to fight a tier 3 mage. Even an injured tier 3 is still very dangerous, the 200% amplification that is done by a tier 3 magic ring on anything that is engraved on it, is not to be underestimated.'
"Grey Gram, I don't want to say you were lucky, as this was your plan in order to survive me killing you. Don't get comfortable, given the opportunity I will capture you and torture you, then kill you in the most painful method that I know off."
Francesca said with a calm voice that suited her beauty more, she did not come out as a deranged woman, but as a graceful woman.
However the toxic words that she was saying gave Grey chills all over his body. However Grey projected a calm face, he re-firmed his convictions to stay away from irrational people like her.
'I need to get stronger, next time if you show up in front of me I will be ready and kill you without having to show off my trump cards like [Crash Magic Ring].'
Grey did not say anything, he just looked at her as she looked at him like she was engraving his face into her mind, though to be fair, Grey was hard to forget with his grey hair and average face.
Before they standoff could continue, the phantom materialised a weapon.
Francesca's eyes that had been glaring at Grey changed as the phantom's weapon materialised in its hands, her eyes were now showing fear.
Francesca seemed to know how the spell is supposed to work, as to be expected from an intelligence operative.
Grey observed her face and saw her look, which prompted him to look at the weapon but still kept his guard against her.
The weapon was a ghastly looking bow, that had a size proportional to the size of the phantom meaning it was kilometres in length.
The phantom did not waste time and took aim with bow, the phantom was aiming into the distance where the Ruhenese tier 4 mage who was fighting the royal was located.
As the bow was being aimed, an arrow materialised on the bow.
'I guess that is the reason I did not see a quiver on the phantom even though it uses a bow.'
The arrow was a deep black arrow and radiated a heavy killing intent that made the people in the battlefield feel like their deaths were nigh.
'Legendary spells are very special, I am having to force my body from reacting by instinct and running away.'
Grey thought to himself as some people reacted like that and firing off spells in the direction of the arrow or completely running away.
That was normal, mages trusted their intuition and instinct. Thus when they felt danger their bodies moved with orders.
This situation made some people embarrassed, but it was better that crying hysterically in the battlefield.
"[One Arrow Killing A Thousand]."
Commander Hans Ignocia commented as the arrow fully materialised, he too seemed privy to the knowledge off this spell.
Commander Ignocia gave Francesca a glance with his frosty eyes, which Francesca ignored as she glanced at her prey who was Grey Gram.
It was not her first time she managed to fail at killing a genius, some people were saved by other mages which she could not fight without the risk of exposure.
However, Francesca's intuition told her that Grey was just too special to be given time to develop.
Given enough time he would become a menace for her Ruhen Kingdom, thus she was ready to fight even a tier 3 mage at the risk of her life to get rid of him.
But that did not happen, she could only run away as dying without finishing the job did not seat well with her.
With a last look at Grey she bolted.
Grey immediately understood the commander's words as he saw Francesca run away at her fastest speed that she was able to in her condition as her magic ring was still not working.
BOOOOOMMMM!! BOOOOOMMMM!! BOOOOOMMMM!!
Immediately after Francesca ran away, the [One Arrow Killing A Thousand] arrow was launched from the bow.
The arrow seemed to be moving slowly, however that was just an optical illusion as immediately after the arrow was launched big explosions happened in the distanced.
Those were the sounds as the arrow broke through three tier 4 defensive combination spells.
'The power of a Legendary spell is high, as to be expected, or else people would doubt their prestige.'
Grey thought to himself in awe.
The arrow broke into two arrows after the explosions which went into two different directions.
"The tier 4 mage is dead if the arrow managed to break apart into two."
Commander Hans explained to Grey who could not shut his mouth upon seeing the power of a Legendary spell.
'A person could be practically be called god on earth if they could fire such spells without having to deal with the heavy toll on the body these spells inflict.'
Grey internally commented.
As seen from before that Legendary spells don't use mana in the body of the mage they use energy on the outside of the body.
The phantom had used the death energy that had accumulated due to the death on the battlefield to fuel its creation.
However the caster must give up some life energy to control and cast the spell, long story short, Legendary spells are launched using lifespan.
But people like the royals have high tier life special affinity mages that can replace the lost lifespan, thus they are not afraid of using these spells.
Grey observed one of the arrows as it travelled in super high speed to kill off a tier 3 mage from Ruhen and then break apart into two arrows which went into two different directions to kill other people.
The same thing happened to the other arrow, thus in a matter of 5 seconds 1000 people were dead, killed by one launched arrow, the arrows had mostly targeted mages.
Grey was left in awe in the killing ability of the Legendary spell.
'I hope Francesca Crawford also got killed as well.'
"RETREAT!!!"
