16 Change (2)

The large scale beats attack was sudden and rare. Those things did not happen unless a magical creature was leading them, the other creatures came too close to an important place to the beasts, or there was some rare treasure that they were protecting.

But the path that the hunting party entered into was the most commonly used path of the Carran forest. The tigers were also not native to that part of the forest so there should not have been any rare treasure for them to guard or it to be an important place for the creatures.

As for a magical creature leading them, there was none present during the battle nor was this the right time to show its forces. It would make no sense for the creatures to be under the lead of a magical creature or spell of another creature.

This meant that the most likely cause was something even worse.

A new predator!

This was the conclusion that Phil and his council had out together. Although they could not be 100% sure without checking, this was the most likely answer.

Not just a new predator but a powerful or numerous one that could force the Hex Tigers out of their homes in the center of the forest and all the way to the edges. This meant that many other dangerous beasts had most likely been moved away from their usual habitats and homes.

This spelled changes for the entire Carran forest and made it much more dangerous. Now, even experienced hunters would not be able to safely hunt in the forest.

Phil decided to report this news back to the garrison and hope that they reported it to the nobles. Without a guild in their town, only by sending someone to a large city or requesting the noble in charge of their territory to handle the matter, could someone sufficiently trained come.

But since the town would be unable to afford adventurers enough and powerful enough adventurers who could make it through all the beasts and reach the center of the forest, they could only rely on the nobles.

Thinking that the issue must be reported immediately, Phil rode out of the group's fastest horse while leaving Robert behind to handle to journey back to the town with the remaining militia.

Out of the initial 100 militia that came for training and 10 professional soldiers that came to watch over them, only 59 of the militia and 6 of the soldiers would return along with 1 unwelcomed child.

Speaking of Nathan, his feat was spread around the group and it was unbelievable. Literally, no one believed the group. They all thought the 3RS were just trying to increase the prestige of Nathan or cozy up to Phil in hopes of getting benefits.

The only ones who believed the story or knew the truth personally was Robert, Phil, the 3rd Recon Squad, and Nathan.

The little guy was walking next to the wagon the 3rd Recon Squad was using to transport their materials as well as the injured bodies of the militia. Not only did the tigers attack the people in the camp but 2 of them even left the forest to attack the main base. With only Phil, Robert, and 5 militia there, they were able to cause a bit of trouble before they were put down.

Thus, the wagons or carriages that would have usually been used to carry off the few careless injured were now filled with the dead bodies of fallen comrades of those too injured to walk. Some of those who were very injured even had to resort to being placed on stretchers and carried by their fellow militia.

All in all, it was a very bad day for the town's militia. Even Nathan felt that today was not a good day for them but he was not feeling pity for the militia. Instead, he was more curious about what caused it.

Unlike the rest, he was not well versed in battling animalistic creatures but instead specialized in battling sentient creatures. Even if he fought like a beast when he piloted Berus, he still could not truly understand the entire system of animals themselves.

What everyone else noticed but Nathan failed to was, that there were majors changes occurring in the Carran forest that might not just affect it but the entire nation of Zallu.
