5 Gift (01)

Zed continued to endure the pain he felt while he gritted his teeth. Rather than the pain, it would be more accurate to call it uncomfortable and irritation all over the body from inside to the outside. He felt like someone was poking him by needles all over his body and scratching his muscles, bones and organs. His heart started to beat faster at a time and almost stop suddenly without warning and his brain throbbed like being squished by hands.

The area surrounding Zed looked normal to the naked eye but gradually light around him began to distort slightly like bending against it will, the ground beneath him started to become flat somewhat along with the grass and small pebbles.

Bitsy who was floating on the lake looked at the man in purple and said.

"You really don't want him to have your legacy?"

The man in purple looked at Zed who was sitting inside the distorted space and slowly opened his mouth.

"He does not need any legacy and I'm already teaching him my legacy in a way, you should know that so why ask the pointless question?" he said in a calm voice.

"Just for fun, just wanted to hear from you." Bitsy said lightly.

Arasine who was playing with the animals turned around after hearing the man say that and couldn't help but say.

"Grandpa Redel you are not going to pass down your legacy?" she asked with confused and astonishing voice but when the moment the young girl said his name the air around her slightly distorted going back to normal immediately.

Zed's grandfather The mage Redel looked at her and said.

"Didn't you hear? I'm teaching him my legacy that is.....

to create his own path himself."

BItsy still floated around in the lake not bothering to say anything but the young girl couldn't help but say again.

"But he's not a genius or special or like those ancients and you." she said a bit more confused because even though she herself walked down her own path, her unique life and circumstances were the hard work of generations of her predecessors which made it easier to not follow the wrong choices she made or something she couldn't handle.

Her species made it so that she was different from the other creatures and beings. Her identity itself as the world tree made her situation special but not all were special like her.

Redel looked at her and smiled slightly.

"Neither were those who came before us or those who made geniuses genius in the first place."

Arasine did not say anything after that and began to play with animals again peeking at Zed from time to time.

Time passed just like his meditation he spent a few days in the suffering and only after that he began to relax and the bigger animals too returned slowly again.

After the discomfort was gone he opened his eyes again and looked at his grandfather and before he opened his mouth his grandfather said.

"It was just welcoming present nature gives to all those who she acknowledges as her friends."

Zed wanted to retort but couldn't because he felt slightly disoriented with his body as if wearing wrong size shoes but wanted to still run.

Slowly he started to see colours he never saw before, the smell he never smelled before, sensation he never had before, taste of the air he never tasted before, sounds of different kinds he never heard before.

It was too overwhelming for him including his body which felt light at the same time difficult to move, familiar but completely strange. The overwhelming information he perceived made him uncomfortable again.

His grandfather Redel waved his hand again and only after that he returned to his senses again.

"Those are just some new things you would get an as welcoming gift from nature as its difficult to get new friends for her. Don't worry you should be able to control those in a few days."

"Now let's start where we left it off.

First of all, let us go back to history a little bit; the first mages who discovered this new world came to understand that everything is made up of matter and to stabilize the matter it required energy.

As they began to study those findings they started to search for ways to understand them more and more... and that's the end of the story."

Redel said clapping his hands at the end.

Zed looked at his grandfather with a questioning look and asked.

"That's it? What ways did they found?"

"That's for you to find out, no need to be in such a hurry.

Now sit down properly again and close your eyes." Redel said.

Zed not making any fuss sat properly and closed his eyes again.

"The reason for closing your eyes is to shut down your senses to some extent, now similarly concentrate and focus of breathing and ignore the other information."

Saying that Redel waved his hand again created a small transparent layer around Zed.

Bitsy who was beginning to sloat towards the shore said with a light voice.

"You really are doting on him now, aren't you?

Wish you paid more attention to those women too so that you wouldn't be alone right now." she murmured the last part in a low voice.

But Redel still heard that and looked at her who made herself some space and sat down again comfortably.

Arasine also giggled at those words but did not comment anymore.

Zed continued to meditate and his mind became calm again.

"Feel the world around you slowly.

Do not get agitated just follow the flow and feel." he heard his grandfather's voice but it did not disturb his state of mind as if it was directly spoken through the void.

As Zed listened to him speaking he started to let his mind wander around but this time he didn't get distracted by his overwhelming senses and information. He could feel the surrounding but he could recognize them he could see them without opening his eyes but could not distinguish, he could hear the sounds but he could not understand them, he could smell different aromas and smells but just like colours he could not distinguish them, even his breathing felt different this time as he felt like he was breathing along with all those surrounding him yet at the same time as if he was the breath himself.

"It would become easy as you get to know those feelings but take it slow.

Those are different matters and energies than you usually could not see and I've mentioned in your books that you would need to understand the world around you.

Now, this is but just a one side of the coin as you get to know more about it you would also get to know what is opposite to it.

But those are the things you would require at latter stages of your training so focus on these first." Redel continued to talk to him as began to concentrate.

"Feel it and get familiar with it,

communicate with it and let it communicate with you."

As Zed followed his instructions time passed and hours later the space surrounding him again became lively as the grass became lustrous and the air became colourful, a smell spread around the atmosphere.

It was not just inside the world tree but the whole world showed beautiful colours for a short period of time just to regain its tranquillity again.

But that was enough to let all those who were worthy enough to know that the world would become lively again for a short period of time.

Redel looked at Arasine who was looking astonish and slightly confused in a daze and said lightly.

"What do you think?"

Arasine woke up from her daze and looked at him and asked.

"How?"

Bitsy who was watching them in her comfortable posture said laughing.

"Hahaha.. its just how things happen. You wouldn't believe but when those first mages started to appear the world would change almost daily and it continued to do so for a period of time.

Well that's what those that wrote the stories said at least. Hahahaha..."

Redel who was looking observing his grandson smiled and said.

"You shouldn't lose this chance and do some work too little sprout."

This time the young girl didn't get upset or dejected at how he called her but became extremely happy as she disappeared from her inner world.

Just like her, many of those beings who were all around the world stopped what they were doing and became silent for a moment.

The children who were born on the following few years or those who were born just recently wether they being humans, devils, spirits, beasts, or the mighty dragons on top of the mountains and giants living on the clouds started showing some slight changes as they would glow their surroundings for a moment and return to normal immediately after.

This phenomenon that happened suddenly was actually the work of all those powerful beings and creatures who decided this as a gift to all new future as well as a way for them to understand the nature and mysteries of the world.

It was just an attempt from them like any other way they were searching for.
