57 [Bonus chapter] Dokki-mon's Little Adorable Fan

Previously:

He observed as she drank it halfway. He couldn't comprehend how she could enjoy sour and bitter tastes at such a young age.

Usually, girls her age preferred sweet flavours. On the other hand, she was into lemons, oranges, sour worms, and sour sweets.

It's something he was always fascinated about.

'She probably got that from her father,' he thought, strolling back to the kitchen, 'After all, my sister has always hated bitter and sour tastes.'

He continued with the cooking. When he was done, he dished the food. He set a hamburger steak on each of the two plates.

He then dished out rice in two bowls. He held the dishes and walked to the kitchen table, positioning the food on the table.

Once he was done, he wandered to Sara, who had finished her juice.

"Come, little one," he cooed, "It's dinner time."

She followed behind him, and he sat her on the chair.

"Be careful; it's hot," he warned her as she grabbed her spoon.

She nodded and blew on her food. She then scooped a large chunk of rice onto the spoon.

"That's too much, Sara," Bai sighed, shaking his head, "You don't want to choke. Eat slowly. There's no rush. The food will not run off or disappear."

Sara blushed shyly, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Sorry," she muttered, "Sara just got too excited to eat your food. Uncle Bai's cooking is always delicious."

He chortled and leaned forward.

"Is it better than mummy's?"

Sara immediately shook her head 'no.'

"Sara loves uncle Bai," she smiled, "But mummy's food is the best in the world!"

Bai playfully pouted and leaned back.

"I figured," he sighed, earning a giggle from her.

They began to eat while catching up on how Sara has been doing. Once they were done, Sara helped him carry the dishes to wash. She ran to grab her mug and handed it to him.

"Thank you, uncle Bai," she chimed, "Dinner was delicious!"

He crouched down and pat her on the head.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll wash these dishes quickly and watch Dokki-mon with you afterward, so wait for me in the lounge."

"Okay!" she ran to the lounge and sat on the large couch, covering herself with the small woolen blanket he had brought to keep warm.

He smiled and washed the dishes. He put the leftovers in containers and onto the kitchen counter, waiting for them to cool down, and then put them in the fridge.

He wiped his hands dry when he finished the dishes and walked to the lounge. To his surprise, he found Sara sleeping.

"She must have been really exhausted," he mumbled, crouching beside her.

He wiped a food stain that was on her right cheek. He switched off the tv and the lights.

"So much for watching Dokki-mon together."

He then gently lifted her in his arms, not wanting to wake her just yet. Her legs were dangling as he walked up the stairs and to the guest room.

He sat her on the bed and grabbed her toothbrush.

He then carried her in his arms and walked to the bathroom. Placing her on the small chair, he began to brush her teeth.

She was totally out of it as she was exhausted, continuously rubbing her eyes to stay awake.

"Sara tired," he heard her murmur.

"I know, little one. You'll sleep soon, okay?"

She nodded. After brushing her teeth and washing her face, he carried her to the bedroom.

He gently lay her on the bed, and she began to softly snore.

'She can't sleep in the clothes she's wearing, but I also kind of don't want to wake her up seeing how tired she seems.'

Walking to her suitcase, he unzipped it and found her pajama - a Dokki-mon t-shirt and pajama bottoms.

'How cute.'

Clearly giving her a bath would not work cause of the state she's in. He then began to undress her, causing her to grumble and slowly open her eyes.

"I'm sorry. I know that you're tired. But you have to change into your pajamas so that you can sleep peacefully," he softly said.

She nodded in her drowsy state and lifted her hands in the air so that he could pull down the pajama t-shirt on her.

She then stood up so she could wear her bottoms while nodding off and jerking awake. When he was done changing her, she lay on the bed. He covered her with the blanket.

"Num-Num," she muttered, stretching her arms in the air.

Num-Num was a bear Dokki-mon character - her favourite toy. Her father bought it for her when she was two. She never slept without it.

He took out the toy and placed it in her arms. She hugged it tightly, a weary smile escaping her lips. He leaned forward and kissed her forehead.

"Good night, Sara."

"Good night, uncle Bai," she yawned.

He closed her suitcase and strode toward the door. Glancing at her one last time, he switched off the light and walked out of the bedroom.

He strolled to his room and brushed his teeth. Once done, he plopped on the bed and slept, fatigue washing over his entire body.

Morning came with an 'Ack!'. And by an 'Ack!', I mean getting jumped on by Sara.

"Wake up, uncle Bai!" Sara chimed after jumping on top of her uncle.

"Ack!" Bai groaned, feeling the weight of Sara, who was busy pulling the blanket off him.

"Wakey. Wakey!" the little girl nudged his shoulder, "Mummy told me you are taking me to the zoo today!"

'So that's why she's so excited this early in the morning,' he sighed as he forced himself to sit up.

Sara smiled when he sat up. She sat beside him on the bed, humming the Dokki-mon theme song.

"Is that why you woke up this early?" he asked, patting her head.

She nodded and grinned.

"Sara wants to see a panda like the one in Dokki-mon!" she exclaimed, clenching her hands into fists.

Her amber eyes were filled with determination. He found the way she spoke in the third person adorable.

"You love pandas, huh?" he brushed her bedhead hair.

"Very much!" she grinned.

She then jumped off the bed. Watching her uncle get out of bed, she clasped her hands together. He walked towards her.

She grasped his hand. They left the bedroom and headed for the guest room which was temporarily hers.

He walked into the bathroom and opened the tap to fill the bath. Making sure that the water temperature was just right, he poured a fragrant bubble bath liquid into the tub.

It smelled like candy floss. When he stepped out of the bathroom, he found that she had changed out of her clothes and wore her pink towel.

He looked for her shower cap and put it on her head, not wanting her blonde hair to get wet or too wet.

"May I go in the bath now?" she asked him.

"Yeah," he nodded, "Make sure to brush your teeth. I left your toothbrush in the bathroom. If you need anything, call me. I'll be waiting for you here."

"Mmm," she nodded and ran to the bathroom.

"No running!" he immediately exclaimed, "The floor might be slippery, and you might fall."

"Oops! Sorry!" she expressed and walked into the bathroom, closing the door.
