18 Chapter 17: Psychotic

Leo and his men were escorted to Lazzerro's living room where he sat on the couch drinking tequila with surprisingly only three women by his side as Leo had expected there to be more. Lazzerro dropped his glass on the fancy center table and leaned back on his couch with a smirk on his face.

" Kane, what brings you here so late? You know when my men told me you were requesting to have a word with me I almost thought that the world was about to come to an end or something, I didn't even believe them but here you are standing in my living room." Lazzerro took another sip of his tequila. " What an unpleasant surprise I might say and being guarded by so many armed men just to visit me? Tsk, If I didn't know better I would have thought that the so-called mafia king was afraid of death. You aren't scared of me, are you?" Lazzerro taunted while casually sipping his drink like he didn't just make fun of the leader of the Kane mafia hood but in reality, his brain was working double time on how to talk his way out of getting a headshot.

Though Lazzerro was a proud man who never admits his mistakes and talked anyhow he liked with half of his spoken words being utterly rubbish but things were a little different when it came to this rich motherfucker standing in front of him. Lazzerro feared Leo, everyone who knew Leo did one way or the other, it would be stupid not to. But being almost the same age as Leo's grandfather, Lazzerro's age sometimes gave him the leverage to say whatever he wanted because mafias were biased when it came to age and experience.

Lazzerro had been around for so long that he practically watched Leo grow up. He saw how Leo went from being an ordinary assassin working for the Kanes to the mafia king and sometimes Lazzerro still wanted to see Leo as just some kid in the world of grown-ups but then again kids don't make money from gun smuggling and most especially kids don't drive pleasure from torturing people.

" Everyone dies one day," Leo said with his voice heavily laced with disinterest.

" Yeah, but are you afraid of dying though? You have killed so many people in just the short period of your rule, are you afraid of dying because you know that you won't make heaven?" Lazzerro asked, knowing that he was slowly pushing Leo's button. He knew why Leo was here but didn't want to address the matter or admit to his crime as he was a very prideful man who didn't want to lose face in the mafia.

Lazzerro understood a little about how Leo's mind worked and was sure that soothing words from the enemy he was would only earn him a death sentence. He knew Leo's mind worked differently from others and he sometimes thought in reverse. He knew Leo's biggest secret, one that Leo had always tried to hide and keep from the light but somehow Lazzerro found it out and it only scared the shit out of him even more. Leo Kane was psychotic and he had been suffering from psychosis for a few years now but luckily he hadn't fully lost his mind yet. He still has some rationality and a little bit of conscience left in him and only a handful of people knew about this. If the news leaks out his followers would start to question Leo's leadership.

People would start fighting amongst themselves on who would be next to claim the title of the mafia king and sit on the throne once Leo is dethroned but then again Leo would also be more than ready to burn anyone that sits on his throne to a fucking crisp.

" You are wrong as always Lazzerro, I'm not afraid of dying. No, I just don't want the last breath I take to be from this shit hole you call a house." Leo answered befittingly to Lazzerro's stupid questions. And as both powerful men stood staring at each other, the room slowly grew dead silent and all the bodyguards there were at full alert with one hand in their suit pocket ready to pull out their guns in case some nasty shit would actually go down.

Lazzerro sat up straight on his couch and cleared his throat to disperse all the tension in the room because he loved his house and his forehead holeless.

" Where are my manners, despite being unwanted you are still a guest, right? So come, please have a seat." He said and Leo honestly felt that whenever Lazzerro opens his mouth only garbage comes out.

" Silly old fool, you can't ask where your manners are if you never had any, to begin with, and thanks for offering me a seat but I wouldn't like to stain my clothes with the filth of your chairs so I rather decline." Leo snapped back with a straight face, showing how different they were in class and standard.

Leo wasn't just good at killing people but he was always good at provoking them with his razor-sharp tongue.

Leo chose to remain standing as he wasn't here to exchange pleasantries with that wrinkled bastard, he wanted to be quick and leave as soon as possible. The pitiful man had bitten more than he could chew by messing with Leo and better pray that Leo would leave the villa satisfied or else hours of constant torture would be his cause of death as a bullet to the head would be too much of an easy death.

" Stop looking at me like you are already planning on what to wear at my funeral after killing me because I will still be alive to see how unfortunate your kids would be." Lazzerro gulped down another shot of tequila.

" They definitely won't be as unfortunate as your children to have a bastard like you for a father." Leo casually said while Lazzerro popped a vein on his forehead. That Kane brat had no respect whatsoever for his elders and needed to be taught an unforgettable lesson.

" Look Lazzerro, I don't have time for your fucking games, whatever they even are, so stop your mindless blabbing, and let's go straight to the point because you know very much why I'm here. I came to your rat hole of a house to peacefully tell you to take that dying business of yours and fuck off my land." Leo said with his irritation making itself visible on his face. Leo had tried to keep his calm and a straight face while talking to the old fool but it was like God ran out of functioning brains when creating Lazzerro.

" You youngsters these days are always so quick to pick violence over talking things out," Lazzerro complained.

" I am here to talk it out, all I need you to do is to take your cheap ass cannabis and leave my land," Leo said, making sure his annoyance could be heard in his voice.

" That land hasn't been put into good use ever since your father, Lorenzo, died," Lazzerro said, trying to justify his actions like the spineless pathetic coward he was.

" It's still my property and I decide when it is used or what purpose it serves." Leo angrily said as his rage slowly resurfaced from the baseless conversation he was having with Lazzerro.

With all this being a complete waste of time, Leo regretted why he didn't just follow his instincts and just kill the motherfucker? It would have been a more effective and faster means of solving this problem.

" Then I suppose Lorenzo didn't teach you enough manners before he died." Lazzerro said and drank from his glass again then something clicked in Leo's brain; ' was Lazzerro intentionally trying to get him angry?' Was he trying to delay him? If so, then for what reason?

" You know our families have history, the hate we have for each other runs deep in our veins so don't act like it's forgotten just because I chose to ignore it. Don't try to provoke because it won't end well." Leo warned because only a fool would try to provoke him at this point but that was exactly what Lazzerro was, a silly old fool who didn't seem to have anything good to do with his time.

Lazzerro saw the angry expression on Leo's face and realized that he might have gone a little too far by mentioning his dead father in their conversation and instantly started thinking of an escape route out of this mess.

" Leonardo, relax, don't let me get to you. Sit and take the load off, the beautiful Helena over here can help you with that. It must be stressful to run an entire mafia all by yourself." Lazzerro said with a smile, trying to appease Leo with one of his women. He then motioned the woman next to him to approach Leo.

The woman called Helena walked up to Leo with a sexy smile on her face, thinking she could easily bewitch him with her charms just like the way she did with Lazzerro but Leo wasn't having any of it. Was this some kind of joke? What does Lazzerro think of him? Did Lazzerro think Leo was some sort of sex-driven man just like he was?

Leo rather drop dead on the spot than have anything to do with one of Lazzerro's dirty whores and as Leo watched Helena approach him, he felt nothing but rage and disgust inside him. She walked up to where he stood but before she could even touch him, he pulled out his gun and shot her on the head.

She then collapsed on the floor, bleeding, dead. Leo looked over to Lazzerro's other whores with menacing eyes that looked like it was saying 'now who's next?' causing the other women to cling onto Lazzerro for protection against the madman called Leonardo Kane. And the smile on Lazzerro's face was now long gone, being completely replaced with a scowl. Leo smirk at how angry Lazzerro looked, knowing he must have shot Lazzerro's favorite toy. It was good, at least now Lazzerro would see that Leo wasn't here play and finally realize how easy it would be for Leo to kill him.

" I don't use your stuff so don't use mine, I hate sharing. You better get out of my territory because if I confront you about this issue again then it wouldn't be me talking but my gun and you can be sure that I will save no expense in giving you and your repulsive varmints all painful deaths. Don't provoke me!" With that being said, he turned around and exited the living room, without even glancing at the woman he had just shot dead. Leaving Lazzerro in a state of both anger and shock, he must have never thought that Leo was that heartless but he was.

Lazzerro's guards didn't even try to take Leo's weapons away not because they were afraid to, even though they were, but because they thought Leo was above threatening or even killing an old man in his own house. Though their assumptions were correct, granted but it also wasn't every day that Leo was this angry and when Leo becomes angry, he wasn't above doing anything. Lazzerro's guards didn't even try to stop Leo and his men from leaving because they knew doing that would be a horrible mistake on their part, so they just let him go and felt thankful that the mafia king wasn't angry enough to have his men start a crossfire.
