Johnny emerged from the room he was in seconds ago, startling Navaya out of the recesses of her thoughts.

" I will take the couch tonight," Johnny said, returning to the lounge. Navaya gaped at him, and for a moment, that was all she could do as he stalked toward her. Then she realized that it wasn't her that he meant to approach but the couch that she stood next to.

She watched him round the couch and sat in front of her. He had taken off his jacket, undone the first three buttons of his shirt, showing a small glimpse of his broad chest. Navaya's eyes absentmindedly latched onto the piece of exposed skin for a second too long that when she finally lifted her gaze, she found Johnny staring right back at her.

He was watching her stare at him.
