We Can Make New Babies

Dante glanced at Silvano from the corner of his eye. He looked skeptical when he heard Silvano's request. "Why should I trust you?"

Silvano sighed. He had expected that Dante wouldn't just believe him. "My name is Silvano Lombardi. You can trust me because I will never let my sister die before me."

Dante no longer answered Silvano's words. He pushed Silvano away from him, then walked away. At first, Silvano thought Dante was reluctant to help him because he didn't care about the Lombardi Familia. However, Silvano's prediction was wrong when he saw Dante walking towards Russo.

"Russo, just as Scarlett said. Can you guarantee that everyone in this hall will be safe if I choose between Illaria or Scarlett?"

Russo clicked his tongue. "This is not—"

Dante interrupted, "You are a dead man, Russo. You must have come here because you intended to kill yourself with us."

If Russo doesn't detonate the bomb he's carrying, then Russo will put himself in a dangerous position. Lombardi and Moretti wouldn't stay silent after they tried to humiliate their leader.

Russo will become a fugitive from the mafia and the police, leaving him nowhere to run.

Because of that, neither Scarlett nor Dante believed that Russo would let them live even though Dante had made a choice.

"You don't need to worry about me. I have my own way of escaping from your pursuit." Russo commanded, "The only thing you have to do now is choosing between your daughter or your wife."

Dante raised his index finger. "I will choose under one condition, release one of my subordinates and Scarlett, then I will trust you."

Russo gritted his teeth. "Dante! You are the one who is being cornered here! But why are you asking for negotiations?"

Dante looked at Russo with his cold gaze. "If you can't accept it, then let's die together, Russo."

Russo, a man who has lost his mind, was more concerned with his will than logic. He wanted to make Dante choose to make the man suffer so that Russo couldn't just detonate his bomb right away.

That's why Russo still insists on asking Dante to choose between Scarlett and Illaria, even though Scarlett has made it clear that Dante doesn't love her.

However, for Russo, Scarlett's words were just empty words to disturb Russo's mind.

"All right! I will release one from each of your underlings. After that, no more negotiations! You have to choose!"

Dante doesn't respond to Russo's words. He glanced at Silvano and nodded at him, indicating he could exit the hall. After that, Dante also signaled Saro to come out.

At first, Saro was reluctant to leave because he didn't want to leave Dante. However, because Dante kept staring at him, Saro also went outside with Silvano.

Dante didn't know what Silvano could do to prevent the bomb from exploding, but the sincerity in Silvano's eyes made Dante sure that this man would do anything to save Scarlett.

Dante glanced at Scarlett and found that she had grown quieter after Silvano left the hall.

Before this, Scarlett tried to find ways to annoy Russo or even please herself by kicking the legs of Russo's subordinates standing nearby.

However, now she was utterly still, like a doll that couldn't move. Scarlett also seems no longer interested in getting into trouble with Russo.

More precisely, Scarlett stopped looking for ways to survive.

[Is she acting crazy to cover up her worries?] thought Dante.

"Now is the time for you to choose." Russo's voice broke Dante's thoughts.

Russo's underlings pointed their guns at Scarlett. If Dante chose Illaria's life, they would shoot Scarlett in the head right away. Elsewhere, someone must have been pointing a gun at Illaria's head and making her cry in terror.

"I want to talk to her for a minute."

This time, Russo wasn't irritated when Dante asked him something. Because Russo thought if Dante wanted to kill Scarlett, he needed time to listen to the last words of his victim.

"Just do it quickly," said Russo as he pointed his gun at Scarlett.

When Dante stood before Scarlett, the woman gave Dante a broad smile as if she didn't mind being killed by her husband.

"Hey, Dante, how about you choose to save me? We can make new babies."

Dante didn't answer; he looked at Scarlett with a cold gaze.

Scarlett clicked her tongue. "Oh, come on, cheer up a little. At least give me one last hug before you decide to kill me."

Scarlett tried to move her chair so she could approach Dante. Seeing that Scarlett was adamant and looked like she wanted to talk up close, Dante finally hugged Scarlett.

"Your daughter is in the basement of her house," said Scarlett solemnly.

Dante was taken aback. "How do you know?"

"There is no time to explain. However, I have already used sign language to my subordinates to inform Saro of your daughter's whereabouts."

It seems that, aside from wanting to buy time, Scarlett was also deliberately trying to make a fuss with Russo, so he could tie her hands to the back of a chair and be able to convey information to her subordinates through sign language.

"So, Dante, because your daughter may have been saved. How about we beat up Russo?"

Dante, "He still has the bomb remote."

"Who cares. Just cut off his arm so he can't use the remote control."

Initially, Scarlett thought that Dante would not follow her crazy desires. However, Scarlett immediately laughed loudly as Dante kicked Russo's subordinate, who was next to Scarlett and released the rope which tied her hand.

"If you get my daughter's information wrong, I'll hang you as soon as we get out of here," Dante warned.

Scarlett rubbed her reddened wrist. "As long as I can beat Russo's ass, I'm willing to be hanged or burned by you."

"What are you doing?! Don't you guys realize that I'm still holding the remote—"

Crashes!

Cerano threw the empty gun into Russo's hand, causing the remote control he was holding to fall to the floor.

"Shut up, I'm sick of hearing your voice," Cerano irked.

Scarlett walked quickly to the remote control lying on the floor and prepared to step on it. However, her feet stopped at the sound of Russo's scream.

"If you destroy the remote, the bomb will automatically explode!"

Russo added, "And if you shoot or carelessly touch the bomb on my body, the bomb will also explode automatically!"

Russo and a few of his subordinates stood before the door, preventing anyone from going in and out. If he couldn't press the remote control, he could have activated it manually.

Scarlett laughed. "If I can't beat you with a gun, I can beat you with my hands too."

"Boys! Quickly catch Russo, and let me beat him to death!"

All of Scarlett's underlings rushed after Russo, but the man was able to run swiftly and suddenly took another remote out of his coat.

"Ha ha ha ha, Scarlett! You are such a fool! Do you think you can snatch the remote control easily if it's real?!" Russo sprinted around the hall. "Catch me if you can, bastard!"

The smile on Scarlett's face faded, replaced by a ghastly grim expression. She grabbed a chair beside her and threw it at Russo.

CRASH!

The chair shattered when it hit the wall next to Russo.

"I'm fucking done with you, Russo!" screamed Scarlett.

She loved playing games, but Scarlett hated it when someone else played her around, especially when that person was Russo, a lowly cartel leader who had no equal to Lombardi.

"You're crazy, Scarlett! Don't you realize that your husband's daughter is still in my hands?!"

Russo pressed the call button on his cell phone, and suddenly they heard a girl's voice again. "Daddy! Illaria wants to go home, Daddy!"

Dante immediately held Scarlett's hand, who wanted to throw another chair at Russo. "Stop! You got it wrong, Scarlett! Illaria is still in danger!"

Impossible.

Scarlett couldn't have made a wrong estimate.

Saro and Dante's underlings should have rescued Illaria, so there was no way Russo could still contact Illaria.

However, why is the girl's voice still coming from Russo's cell phone?
