Chapter 9: Strong and Mighty

Alexa's P.O.V.

I sat up spitting blood onto the cold concrete floor. For the last two hours Mr. Reed has been torturing me trying to find more lycans. My leg was broken, I had burns all over my body from the aconite, cuts all over my body, a deep gash on my side, right eye was swollen shut from multiple punches. I could feel my body trying to heal, but the aconite dosages were increased.

"TELL ME SOMETHING." Mr. Reed yelled at me again. I haven't told him anything, not even my name. He would constantly keep injecting me with aconite. Each time I got weaker, but I wasn't going to break my pack is depending on me.

"Fine if you are not going to talk." He pulled out another syringe and stabbed it into my leg and injected me again. This time I screamed in pain it hurt way worse than the others. He laughed. "Silver and aconite doesn't feel good does it." I tried my best to growl at him, but it came out very gurgly sounding with all the blood in my mouth. I wanted nothing more in this moment than to kill him.

He slapped me again. "You will not growl at me ever." He got up and left. As soon as he was gone I started to cry. I didn't even realize I was holding back tears. I cried myself to sleep again like I did almost every night.

I woke up to the sound of Finn calling my name. I slowly flustered my eyes open. I looked into his humble green eyes. A tear slid down my face and he reached up and wiped it away, I backed away from his touch. "It's going to be okay Alexa." "Cain knows and he is going to save you. You just have to hold on a little longer, we have a plan."

I coughed out. "No." My throat was so dry. Finn got up and walked out of my cell then came back with a water bottle. "Here drink this." I grabbed the bottle, and slowly took a drink. It was so cold as it went down my dry burning throat.

I pulled the bottle from my cracked and bleeding lips. "Please don't let Cain get involved he can't." I started to cough and blood came out. Finn sighed. "He has given you too much aconite." "No, he mixed aconite and silver together in the last injection."

"I told him that could kill you." "He just wants me to talk. I haven't said a word to him, and don't worry my wolf is stronger than you think." I heard the door open. Finn grabbed the bottle from me. "Finn what are doing?"

"Sorry I was trying to get her to talk, and she needed some water. She also needs some food." "No she doesn't get any food till she tells me something." I whispered, "Alexa." He looked at me like he saw a ghost.

"So you can talk I started to think you were mute." Finn spoke. "Can she have something to eat now." "Fine go get her something from up stairs." Finn left and Mr. Reed walked into my cell and walked over to me. I pushed myself up against the wall wishing I could be anywhere else.

"Alexa, just answer my questions and I will let you go." I growled knowing he was lying. I eminently looked to the ground and knew he was going to fit me. I waited for his hand to come in contact with my face but it never did.

When I looked up Finn had grabbed him by the shirt and was holding him off the ground. "Finn put me down now." Finn slowly put him down and stepped back. "Sorry sir, but if you keep hitting her like that she isn't going to be able to talk at all."

Mr. Reed didn't say anything he just left angrily. Finn looked at me and stepped closer and sat on the floor in front of me. "Thank you, but you shouldn't have done that." "I didn't know I was doing it till after." He handed me a sandwich and another water bottle.

I finished my sandwich and my water. "Finn?" He has been watching me the whole time. "Yeah." "Could you tell Cain something for me." After I told him he left me and I was back to being in my cold dark cell all by myself, but now at least I knew I was getting out. That little bit of hope is just what I need to keep going.

Cain's P.O.V.

It has been two days since Alexa was kidnapped. Mr. Reed told me yesterday about him finding her. He thinks that she knows where he is at. I was in the kitchen with Finn and Mr. Reed. Mr. Reed kept me from school today. I think he wants me to try and get information out of Alexa.

"Cain you and Finn will stay here today till I call. I am leaving, don't leave this house till I call." We both nodded and he left. When I heard him start his truck and leave I turned to Finn. "How is she?" "She is hanging on, she is a strong one."

"She wanted me to tell you something." "Really what was it." "She told me to tell you that. She is okay and holding on, he has been hurting her but she is alive and to tell Eli and her parents that she will be coming home. Just to keep the pack calm and don't do something that is going to get yourselves hurt."

A tear fell down my check, I quickly wiped it away. "Finn we have to get her out of there." "I know Cain." We sat around the house for most of the day waiting for Mr. Reed to call. It was about noon when Finn got the call.

We got in Finn's SUV and drove to where they are keeping Alexa. The whole ride there was painful. I could still smell Alexa and her fear in the SUV. It was faint but it was still there. When we got there I put on my soldier face and walked into the house. I had to keep cool and act like this was just another lycan or else Mr. Reed will get suspicious.

The house was a few hours outside of town. The closest neighbor was miles away. I could smell Alexa as soon as I walked in. Finn told me on the way here that he cut down her aconite dosage, so her wolf should be stronger by now. She just isn't strong enough to shift yet.

Mr. Reed led me to the basement. When he opened the door all I could smell was Alexa mixed with fresh and dried blood. "Now Cain, careful when you touch her she has aconite and silver in her blood." I nodded my head knowing if I talked I would say something that would get me in trouble.

When we got to her cell he turned on the light and what I saw made me want to kill him and carefully pick her up and get her out of here. Her hair was a mess and had blood all in it.

Her once beautiful eyes full of life now looks faded and one eye was swollen shut, she had burns all over her body, I could tell her leg was broken, and the gash on her side looked like it was starting to get infected. She looked like a whole different person.

We all walked in the cell. Alexa was just staring at me. I looked at Mr. Reed. "Has she said anything?" "She has only said her name." I nodded my head. I mouthed to her, 'Sorry.'

There were so many emotions on her face the most was sadness. Finn picked her up and put her in a chair he brought in with him. I whispered low enough only she could hear. "I am really sorry for this, but I have to." She just looked at me and nodded her head slightly.

Mr. Reed stood on one side of her and Finn on the other and me in front of her. "Okay Alexa lets try this again. I ask a question you answer if you don't my friend Cain here is going to hurt you." Alexa just watched him not saying anything. "Where are you from?" Alexa didn't say anything. Mr. Reed looked at me. I mouthed. 'Sorry' She closed her eyes as I punched her in the jaw. Her head flung to the side.

When she looked back at me. I almost broke the way she looked at me. Almost like she was silently pleading with me to just stop, but I couldn't. I have to keep going. Even though my entire mind and body was saying that this was wrong."Were you traveling alone?" She still didn't answer, so I punched her again this time she spat blood at Mr. Reed. He grabbed the knife from his coat, and handed it to me. I knew what he wanted. I have been doing this for so long.

"Are there more of you monsters in town?" She still wasn't saying anything. I reached out and sliced a gash on her shoulder. This went on for another two hours before Mr. Reed got fed up and left.

Finn went and got a rag and some water. He handed it to me. Alexa was barely conscious at this point. Mr. Reed injected her with more aconite before he left. "Alexa stay awake, you have to stay awake." I wet the rag and slowly started to clean the wounds I gave her. I hate myself for doing this to her.

She tried to pull away at first, but eventually too tired she just stayed still. "It's okay Cain don't be upset." She reached up and wiped away a tear. I didn't even realize I was crying. "I am fine, I can handle this." "This is all my fault." She shook her head.

"No, none of this is your fault. You didn't have a choice in who raised you and what they make you do." I looked her in the eyes. "But I could have tried harder to get him to leave." "I could have made him leave, but I didn't. I just keep doing as I was told like I always do like I have always done."

"Cain I am glad you didn't leave." We just sat there for a few seconds just looking at each other. Over what little time I have known Alexa my feelings have grown so much for her. She is my rock, the only reason why I get up and continue. I have to get her out of here.

"Don't worry Alexa I will be getting you out of here." She smiled, oh how much have I missed her smile. "Come on Cain we have to go before Mr. Reed gets suspicious." I got up reluctantly and left. "I will be back soon. Just hang on." "I will see you soon Cain."

When we walked out of the basement Mr. Reed was in the living room on the phone. He hung up and looked at us. "We are staying here, Katie and some other hunters are coming in the morning." Mr. Reed showed us to our rooms for the night.

Before I got in the shower I texted Max. 'Alpha, someone is coming in the morning to get Alexa.' 'Okay don't do anything until we get there.' I sent him the address. Later that night I smelt Max before I heard a tap on my window. I opened it. I whispered, "Well hello sir." I moved over so he could climb in, Eli climbed in after him. "Hey Eli, so are you guys ready?" They both nodded their heads.

I texted Finn to make sure that Mr. Reed was still gone. He had left about an hour ago. There was a knock on my door. I could feel Max and Eli tense up. "Calm down it's just Finn." I opened the door and motioned for them to follow me.

We all headed down to the basement. When we opened the door I ran over to Alexa. I slightly shook her to wake her up. "Come Alexa we have to go before he returns." She opened her eyes and looked at me then at her dad and Eli. She sat up. "Don't try to walk, I got you." She nodded, giving me permission to pick her up.

We all had just got out of the basement when I heard someone clear their throat. We all stopped and turned to see who it was. Mr. Reed stood just a few feet away from us. "What is going on here?" Eli walked up beside me. I handed Alexa to him. "Take her away now, this is my fight." I said to them both. "Go"

Max and Eli left getting Alexa to safety. I turned to Finn. "I am staying, we fight together." I nodded my head. I looked back to Mr. Reed. "I have had enough of this." Mr. Reed looked at me. "I knew you were lying to me, but I wasn't expecting this mutt to cause you to betray me."

I growled. "No, all she did was show me truly what a horrible monster you made me into, and I am done listening to you. I am not going to keep being your good little soldier boy anymore." Mr. Reed looked at Finn. "What? You done with me too?" Finn straightened his posture. "Yeah I am. I am tired of watching you have innocent people killed just because they are different."

I stepped closer to Mr. Reed letting my wolf come forward. I felt my claws and canine elongate, and my eyes glow. I saw fear pass over his face. "You will not be leaving this house alive. I lunged at him, slicing into his face like it was paper.

I watched as blood flowed down his face. We both circled each other trying to get a hit in. With my heightened speed and senses had me at an advantage in the fight. I watched him as he threw his first punch. I easily side stepped it.

He slightly lost his balance and I took it as an advantage to strike. I reached out with my clawed hand and stabbed him in the side, raked up and pulled out. He howled in pain and turned around to face me. I growled crouching waiting to lunge and finish him.

I saw Finn move and took my eyes off him for just a second, and I paid the price for losing concentration. He had pulled a knife from his coat and lunged at me. I jumped in time for him to miss any organs, but he still got a slice to my hip that was pretty deep.

I hissed at the burn of the silver. I was done playing games with him and reached out and grabbed him by the throat. I saw the fear in his eyes, as my grip tightened around his throat. In one swift motion I dug my claws into his neck and ripped his throat out.

Blood went all over my face, as I watched the life fade from the guy's eyes that made my life hell and turned me into a monster. I hated him for what he did. Finn walked up to me and put his hand on my shoulder. "It's going to be okay, but we should go." I nodded and walked away not once looking back. I got into Finn's SUV and he drove me to Alexa's house.

I didn't even bother to ask him how he knew where she lived. All I could think about was seeing Alexa and making sure she was okay. I walked into her house and into the kitchen. I saw Max and Isabella standing there just looking at the table.

They gasped when they saw the state I was in. My adrenaline was wearing off and I was starting to feel the pain from the wound on my hip. "Oh my gosh, what happened?" "What I did tonight I should have done a long time ago." "You need to get your hip checked out."

I looked at my hip, there was a huge gash on it. "It is already starting to heal. I can deal with it later right now, I need to see Alexa." "She is in her room." I walked up the stairs, I didn't know which one was her room. I just followed her scent. When I got to the room her scent was the strongest at. I opened the door. I gasped at the sight I saw.
