Chapter 7: The Run In

Alexa's P.O.V.

My dad and Julian decided next Friday to meet with Cain. I was walking up to my table when Eli walked up beside me. "Hey Alexa, how are you?" "I am good." We sat at the table, we talked about pack stuff, and how Eli was very excited for the day we took our dads positions, until our friends showed up.

Eli sat on my left and Cain sat on my right. Lily and Artemis sat next to each other, and Jade and Elijah sat next to each other. Everything seemed normal at this moment in time. We were talking about the latest gossip and just being normal teenagers, and everything just felt right. I just wish it could always be like this.

It was lunch time, we were all eating outside since the weather was nice. Jade was not saying anything today. "Hey Jade why have you been so quiet today." She looked at me then at Cain. "I have just been thinking." She talked with a kinda bitter tone. "About?"

This time she was talking to Cain. "Well about how you never just killed Mr. Reed you are always moving around, and I am pretty sure you have had many opportunities." I looked to Cain. "You do not have to talk about it if you do not want Cain." He shook his head. "No, the question was bound to come up at some point."

"So, I have had many opportunities, but I never did because every other day Mr. Reed has someone call him to see how everything is doing. One time he did not answer and in not even an hour there were 20 hunters at our house. They are always ready for anytime I decide to rebel, and kill him or even run away."

Artemis asked a question next. "Then why not just run?" "I tired that one time when I was 10. I overheard what they were going to have me do when I got older, and after what he had me do just a week before I just couldn't bring myself to stay." He stopped and I knew he was talking about the killings.

"I did not want to hurt anyone else, so I ran that night. I was gone for four days when they found me. I don't know how but they managed to find me and let's just say the punishment makes you never want to disobey any rule again."

I reached out for his hand and when he looked at me I saw so much sadness and pain in his eyes. He really has been through a lot, and I wish I could just take all the memories and pain away. "Well now that you have us we are going to help you." He looked at us all with a smile on his face. "I could never have asked for a better pack." I don't know why, but hearing him refer to himself as a part of my pack. It just felt right.

It was Wednesday, in two days Cain would meet my parents and Eli's. He did not seem nervous, but I am pretty sure he is. I was on my way to the coffee shop in town. Artemis wanted to treat me to coffee after school, and who am I to say no to a free coffee.

I walked into the coffee shop and saw Artemis sitting at a table next to a window, I walked over. "Hey Artemis, thanks again for the coffee." I sat down. "Yeah no problem I also thought you could use some girl time." I laughed. "Yeah. I haven't had any girl time in a long time." I never really got girl time, or alone time. I was either doing school work or with dad taking care of pack business.

We sat there drinking our coffee and just talking. After an hour Artemis had to leave. "Hey I gotta go, I got a paper due tomorrow, and I am not done yet." "Okay drive safe and I will see you tomorrow." She waved goodbye and left.

I sat there for a few more minutes till I decided I should leave. As I was walking out the door I bumped into someone. I stumbled a little, but caught my balance. "Oh my gosh I am so sorry I didn't see you there." I looked up to see who I bumped into. Then I smelt it silver and aconite. This must be Mr. Reed. If it wasn't for the silver and aconite smell. I probably would have known it was him. He looked like your average human, brown hair, brown eyes, well built he kinda just looked normal.

I backed away. He looked at me like he was studying me. "It's okay, I wasn't watching where I was going either." I couldn't tell if he knew what I was or not. I nodded politely and rushed out. I got on my motorcycle and drove home.

I didn't want to worry my parents so I didn't tell them about what happened. I knew if I did they would have me on house arrest till he left. I can always just ask Cain if he mentioned anything to him about me tomorrow.

When I got home I went straight to my room and laid on my bed and called Eli. "Hey Eli something happened." "What happened." "Well today I was at the coffee shop with Artemis, she left and I stayed for a little while after then I left." "Are you okay? Did something happen? Do you need help?"

I growled at him to shut up. "Eli I am fine, but when I left I think I bumped into Mr. Reed literally." "Do you think he knew what you were?" "I am not forsure. I left before I got the chance to find out." The phone went silent for a minute before I heard Eli speak again. "Alexa please just be safe and if we need to we can leave and get away for awhile."

"Eli I will never run. I will stand and fight always. I am an alpha amory wolf, and I am not going to run with my tail tucked." I could feel Eli's admiration for me in his voice. "Okay Alexa then me and the pack will stand by your side no matter what happens." I ended the call and went to get a shower.

When I got out of the shower I heard my phone go off. I looked at it and saw a text message with a number I didn't have saved. I clicked on the message and it read, 'Hey it's Cain.' I texted back. 'How did you get my number?' I saved his number in my phone.

'I asked Eli and he gave it to me.' 'Okay, so did you need something?" 'Yeah actually I wanted to ask if anyone in the pack bumped into or who they might have thought was Mr. Reed today.' 'I did why?' 'When he got home today he told me he thinks he found a lycan.'

'Cain what did you tell him?' I didn't tell him anything. He just told me I need to look again to see if they just got here.' I didn't text him back. I was so mad that Mr. Reed is now going to be looking for me. I just put myself and the whole pack in danger.

I can't believe I was so stupid to not pay attention where I was going knowing that a hunter was in town. My phone went off. 'You there?' I laid down on my bed. Another text from Cain. 'Alexa I know you are scared, but it is going to be okay. I won't let him hurt you or the pack.' I turned my phone and thought about what Cain said, and I knew he wasn't just saying it he was promising it.
