Chapter 2: The Transformation

Alexa's P.O.V.

The sun had finally started to set. I was starting to get antsy and I could tell by the way Eli kept pacing he was too. I knew that we would be fine but the first shift always hurts so much. I felt a little more comfortable with Eli here especially since he will be my beta when our parents step down.

"Eli can you please stop pacing you are starting to make me nervous and give me a headache?" He stopped in his tracks and turned to me. "Sorry Alexa, I'm just a little nervous." I nodded my head reassuring him that it is going to be okay. I looked at my dad. "Are we going to shift at the same time?"

My dad shook his head in uncertainty. "You might, you might go first he might go first." My mom came over and rubbed my shoulders. "Don't worry sweetie everything is going to be fine." I looked to the sky to see the moon rising, when it reaches its peak our first shift will be triggered.

Three more hours of waiting it was finally time. Eli started to shift first. I watched him fall to the ground in pain as the sound of bones breaking and repositioning rang throughout the forest. After what felt like hours of watching him he finally fully changed. His wolf was brown, he looked at us all. After a few more minutes I started to shift. My body felt like it was on fire. The pain is indescribable.

The sound of breaking bones was all heard till I felt myself scream. My shift was taking longer than Eli's did. After it was all over I shook out my fur and stood at my full height. When I looked at my fur and saw it was sold black and that I was twice Eli's size I was so confused. When I looked at my parents and the Hall's they had also shifted. I guess I will have to wait till tomorrow to ask why I am like this.

As the sun started to rise we headed back to the vehicles. When we got back we shifted and grabbed our clothes and got dressed. The dress my mom got was lavender and it came just above the knee and was very loose from the waist down. I walked out into the open and walked over to my mom.

"I love the dress but you didn't have to buy me a new one. I had plenty at home." She smiled. "But you always just looked so pretty in lavender." Eli walked over to us and put a hand on my shoulder. "Dang Alexa I thought you were intimidating in human form. When you shifted I wanted to cower down and crawl away."

"Well maybe you are just a scaredy cat." With that he and mom laughed. I looked at my mom and dad. "So why was I so much bigger than y'all?" My dad looked at my mom then back at me. "Well sweetie you are an amory wolf. I am pretty sure my jaw literally dropped. "I thought that was just a myth to give lycans hope. No one has seen an amory wolf in years." My mom spoke. "When you were born and we felt the power you had as a kid your dad and I thought you were one, but had to wait till you shifted."

We got into our vehicles and left, when we got home my mom was shaking me awake. I hadn't even realized how tired I was. I got out of the car, walked to the front door and unlocked it and went to my room.

I went to my conjoined bathroom and started the bath water. After the tub was full I took off my dress and stepped into the tub and sat down. The water felt so good on my sore body. The first shift really did put a strain on your muscles, but I could feel it healing already.

I woke up the next morning feeling better than I had ever. I already had heightened abilities but now they are tenfold. Everything was brighter, could hear everything so clearly, and I could feel the power coursing through my body. I got dressed and went down stairs. My mom was making eggs and bacon. It smelt so good and after last night I feel like I could eat a whole bison.

I sat down at the table and my mom gave me a plate. When I finished I put my plate in the sink and thanked my mom, then went up to my room to get my helmet. When I went to leave my mom and dad were both seated at the table. "Have a good day. I will see you after school."

My dad got up and came and kissed my forehead. "You to honey." "You too, sweetie and don't drive too fast." I got to school before my friends today and went to the table we usually meet at in the morning.

"Hey Alexa how was it yesterday?" I turned around to see Lily. "It was fine we should go for a run now." She smiled. "Yeah but are you sure you can keep up with me? I am trained to be a scout." "I am pretty sure I can." Eli walked up and spoke. "Yeah I wouldn't beat on it Lily she could outrun the best scout with her size."

Confused Lily looked at me for an answer. I spoke with pride. "I am an amory wolf." Lily's face lit up. "Are you serious?" I nodded. "That is so cool congratulations." I looked at Eli and saw an emotion I couldn't quite tell what it was. "Since Eli and I have finally shifted I am to get my most trusted friends together to discuss me taking over as Alpha." Lily jumped with joy. She has been waiting for me to take over.

Not like my dad is a bad alpha or anything, it's just this pack has never had a female alpha before, or any pack at the matter of fact, and the fact I am an amory wolf I will be respected as an alpha even being a female. "Yeah and then I have to go meet with the alphas, and to be honest I am a little nervous." Lily spoke. "Don't worry as soon as they find out that you are an amory wolf. They will all respect you."

It was lunchtime, and I was at my locker while a group of girls next to me were talking about a new kid. I knew one of the girls. "Hey Sindy did I hear you say something about a new kid." "Yeah it's a new guy he and his dad just moved into town. Everyone is saying he is super hot." I swear that is all Sindy cares about.

"Does anyone know anything about what his parents do." One of the other girls spoke I think her name was Bridget. "Yeah there is a rumor going around that his dad is a Lycan hunter." My breath caught in my throat, but I tried to stay calm. "Well I gotta go I will see y'all later."

I got to the lunch room and everyone was already there waiting for me. They all seemed happy. I kinda for a second felt bad for fixing to ruin their moods. Artemis sensed me first. "Hey Alexa." "Hey Artemis I can see you are becoming an excellent tracker I just walked into the lunch room when you looked at me."

She smiled at the fact I complimented her. "Yeah I actually smelt you before you got to the door." I nodded my head. "Well you all know I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we have a problem if the rumors are true." They looked at me to continue.

"I heard from some human students saying that there might be a Lycan hunter in town." Lily gasped, Eli piped up. "But there hasn't been a hunter in Canton for over a hundred years." I nodded my head. "I am aware. I don't even think my dad has seen one before."

After lunch, I kept my guard up for the rest of the day. I didn't hear anything else about the new kid except that he is nineteen. When the bell rang to end school I went straight home, so I could talk to my parents about our new situation.

When I got home I went to my room and changed into some skinny jeans and a dark blue t-shirt. I texted my dad. 'Hey dad are you still at Julian's house?' 'Yeah why?' 'Okay stay there mom and I are on our way.' I went downstairs.

"Hey mom, we need to go to Julian's house. Dad is already there." She must have sensed the urgency in my voice cause she went and grabbed the keys, and we left. When we got there my dad was outside waiting for us. "We will talk inside."

All six of us sat down in the living room. I stood up in front of everyone. Eli sat in the chair closest to me looking less nervous since he already knew what was going on.

"Okay so today at school I found out some information that could potentially put the whole pack at risk. There is a new kid coming to our school I don't know when but apparently him and his dad have already moved in." Julian spoke up. "And why does this concern the pack?" "If you would hold on I was fixing to tell you."

I looked at everyone to make sure no one else had something to add before continuing. "A girl I know said that his dad is a Lycan Hunter." I saw fear flash through my mother's eyes. "Which means his son more than likely is one to." I looked at my dad.

"Our school talked about Lycans last week and now this. I don't think it is a coincidence." My dad looked like he was deep in thought when Penelope spoke up. "How do you know that it isn't just rumors and you are making a big deal about nothing."

If looks could kill Penelope would be six feet under. It's not like I didn't like her or anything she just wasn't always the smartest. "Because Penelope I would rather be prepared for the worse than sweep it under the rug and lose a pack member because we didn't warn anyone." My dad finally said something. "It's okay Alexa you are doing the right thing by telling us. It proves you are ready to be alpha when I step down."

I smiled and looked at Eli. "Eli and the rest of the senior lycans at school already know. I didn't want to tell anyone else until I talked to y'all." My dad nodded his head. Then Eli spoke. "Alpha not to interrupt but I think you and my father should step down this weekend and give Alexa and I your titles."

My dad looked at Julian then said. "I am not saying no, but let me and Julian talk it over, and we will talk to you before Saturday." I nodded my head and gave Eli a reassuring smile. "Well back to the reason we're all here."

"I think we need to let everyone in the pack know, so they can be prepared or leave for a while till this whole thing blows over." My dad nodded his head. "Okay I will let everyone know and Alexa you and Eli and the rest of the seniors just keep trying to find out what you can at school."

After another hour of just discussing other pack business my parents and I left and went home. I went to bed thinking about what will happen to me and my pack.
