Nikolai was astounded by her words. His ruby eyes widened and focused on the sun goddess as she gave him a long, slow look.

She was much more stunning because of the sun's sparkling brilliance and he couldn't help but notice a loving twinkle in her golden eyes as she sighed and averted her gaze. His fingers began to tremble with the want to touch her face.

"It is." In response, Nikolai stood up. "I don't know why you want me to stay, but you need to know that there are no ties between us. You are a stranger to me and I am a bystander."

Ophelia pressed her lips. He could have simply said, "I don't care," instead of making such a lengthy remark.

"Oh. A stranger? I thought we are already making progress." Ophelia couldn't believe herself. She stood up and pushed herself out of the chair.

Nikolai raised a brow. "Progress?"
