Introspections

Maisie found it hard to gulp down the lump in her throat, her widened eyes were fixed on the man before her as she recalled how he had dismembered Connor's arm from his body with a single move.

She wondered who or what he was, he was definitely not human, Humans do not possess those abilities and that was what led her to inquire.

The man's reply left her petrified. She took a quick look at him, even his features were out of this world. He had striking gold eyes that she had never laid her eyes on, she pondered, were they contacts or real eyes? They seem to be boring down into her soul as he narrowed his eyes at her.

He had bristly carved eyebrows and angular cheekbones carved down to a flinty jaw. Broad shoulders that were part of his physique and a narrow torso. She could see his firm chest from the buttons left open, there surely would be packs beneath that thick shirt of his.

Maisie didn't let her sinful eyes look downward, she was scared of what she would see so she directed her eyes back at him, to see him doing the same. He was drinking in her appearance and she seems not bad to him.

Maisie was a delicate girl who had wavy brunette hair, her pale blue innocent eyes were framed by the siren shape making her look sultry to whoever looked at her. Her eyebrows were carved just fine and she had thick lashes hovering above her eyes, casting a shadow over her red lips, the upper was bow-shaped and the lower part was just filled enough.

He found himself looking down at her skirt, which was above her lap. He wondered why students were made to wear such short dresses, if he was a minute late, the cloth must have torn and the bastard would have done wicked things to this scaredy cat right here.

"Get in the car" He ordered, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Was she stupid? How would she get into the car of a stranger? Maisie had never seen someone like him anywhere, well, for a moment she had forgotten his appearance as the dark prince in country M which she had once seen in Isolde's phone.

The man who was already walking didn't hear any sound of footsteps coming behind him, he turned to find her still sitting on the ground with a dumbstruck look.

His eyebrows raised inquisitively, "Did you not hear what I just said?" His chill voice got to her and she hurriedly stood up from the ground.

Maisie wasn't going to comply just yet, "How am I sure, you're not a kidnapper" She dared to ask.

She saw his eyebrows raise higher than before, the corner of his lips threatening to curl, why was he amused? "If I were a kidnapper, I wouldn't be so kind" She heard him say.

If it was a kidnapper, they would have rough-handled her. Took her by force and toss her into the car before speeding away.

His eyes darkened, "Get in the car, lest you want him to come back for you" He narrowed his eyes at the boy who was still unconscious. His arm was ten meters away from him.

At this, Maisie hesitantly opened the car door and sat on the chair, it was comfortable. She looked out the double-glazed glass when the man entered the car and closed it shut, he started the engine and they soon drove off.

Maisie had never seen this kind of speed before, she clenched her skirt from flying upward and serving his gaze. She poked out her tongue to wet her lips when she heard him question her, "What grade are you?"

"12" She answered honestly.

Leif looked at her for a brief moment before concentrating on the road. "How old are you?"

She heard, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She didn't answer him right away as she asked herself inwardly what he wanted by asking her age. What did this stranger want to know her age for?

"You still feel uncomfortable around me" His lips quirked up. Any normal person would after seeing that scene, surely went overboard with what he did. It must have imprinted itself on her mind and she would probably have a hard time sleeping this night.

She was quiet for the rest of the ride. When they had reached somewhere, she asked him to pull over.

"My house isn't far from here. Thank you for the ride sir and thank you for your help, I'll get going now" She bowed her head and went out of the car.

Leif also came down, he didn't follow behind her to see her get into the house but stood next to his car where his eyes followed her. Ensuring that she wasn't going to get into trouble.

At first, he doubted in his mind that she was telling the truth. How would someone's house in this age and era be situated in the woods, until when he saw a lit cottage did he believe her.

And now she was walking toward it, she would turn sometimes to look at him. Wondering why he hadn't left yet. When she arrived at the door, she softly knocked on it for it to be opened by her dad.

He was already sleeping and was surprised when he found her by the door, nonetheless, he granted her access into the house and shut the door.

Maisie heard the sound of the vehicle, and she was certain that he had left. 'Phew' she thought in her mind, the man was something else.

Her father recalled, "I thought you were studying at Isolde's tonight"

"Hmm" She hummed, "Her mother arrived and sent me out" She truthfully told him.

The man frowned hard, "That woman! Isn't she aware of how late it is, what if something bad had happened to my dear daughter?" He questioned in a loud tone.

Maisie refrained from telling him how she was attacked by Connor and how a stranger had saved her. She remembered vividly how he had removed Connor's arm like it was nothing but paper. Then he tossed it away without a care in the world.

Her father then asked, "Did they at least give you food?"

She bobbed her head, "Yes, I am filled up. Just want to have a rest" She said.

"That's important too. Give me your uniform and I'll wash it, that way you wouldn't have to worry and would have a good night rest" He suggested.

"Thank you, papa," She said. It always happened this way whenever she came back late. She gave him her uniform and the man went away with it, Maisie sighed as she watched him leave, and she then went back to her room to sleep. Tomorrow, she would have to wake up early for school.

For the past three hours, she had laid on the bed, tossing around. Her mind was occupied with the stranger, his appearance took her breath away and as she kept remembering him, she wasn't able to get a proper sleep.

Meanwhile, when Leif had departed from the girl's sight. His mind drifted back, to where he had just left the office late in the night.

Since Peony had done injustice to herself by sleeping around, he had occupied himself with work until late in the night.

He entered his car and sped away. He was heading for his house as he passed by the street. It was dark and quiet, only his vehicle could be seen on this road this night.

He was concentrating on the road when his eyes darted to the side, and then he saw some students. They seem to be laughing at something, he wanted to drive off when he caught sight of a woman being bound.

She seems to be in misery. Normally, he would have driven away since it never concerned him. He wasn't able to take his mind off, and he found himself pulling over to help her.
