Chapter Five

Stan's dad arrived a little over seven o'clock pm. Stan had already taken dinner and retired to the room. He was researching on some take home notes, and reading on more self-help music 101 tips for lute practice. He was hell bent on gaining widespread recognition for his work in Lute music. He needed to purchase a Lute, the whole school environment had to respect his new craft.

He went online to find, maybe a relic and a manual as to how to use the Lute…well he wouldn't, under normal circumstances, call a tutor a manual, since that is who is needed for Lute practice.

Stan's mind drifted into an animated version of a dream where his mother and dad were having supper together, with the cling cling of the cutlery on the ceramic plates as they unknowingly but subconsciously slice through their dinner, then take a bite, and wash it down with their glasses of red wine. They were like the aristocrats of the renaissance period. This short fantasy opened up a little world of hope about him; where he could be a social figure imbued with scholarly prowess and achievement in the arty universe.

He reveled in his C15th themed dream…where he was a leader of a movement; part of a new group of earth-bound gods engaging in mortal escapades. And he didn't want to wake up, but there was a knock on his half closed door and a deep voice, like a majestic whisper with his name at its end note

"Stan…are you awake…" then He awoke, knowing it was no monarch but his Dad….

"…your mom was saying something about music, a new fantasy of yours…?"

Stan sprang from his bed in a mood that looked like desperation; he wanted most of his dreams to be real… he looked at his Dad in the eye and started a conversation….mostly about his dreams, fantasies…just like all the night therapy sessions he often has with his Dad….even if they were unofficial ones…..
