chapter 4 ( blending with the rules)

5 years had passed since the birth of the Princess and the pure heart and Zeddicus clan flourished marvelously. They never fought a single war in these years, there was no famine and strife and the people lived in good health. They were grateful for the birth of Princess Ellie; for they believed that her birth brought forth good tidings.

Princess Ellie had already grown to become a beautiful five year old. She was naturally endowed with long black hair, gold colored eyes with long eyelashes. She was adored by everyone within and outside the clan because she had good behavior and mostly because she took the good looks of her father and had a striking resemblance with him.

There she was, seated in front of her vanity table while her favourite servant Alma combed her hair gently from behind.

"What would you like to do today my princess?." Alma asked as she gently held her hair together to pack it in a ponytail.

"I don't know. I have a lot of things I want to do today. I would like to go into the woods and play, then help out in the kitchen, then sleep. "Ellie replied and Alma couldn't help but laugh at her cuteness.

"You are such an adorable Princess, Ellie. You are permitted to do all other things except one. " Alma explained, though she knew Ellie would be able to figure out the one she wasn't permitted to do.

"Which is?" Ellie asked, pretending not to know which one she wasn't supposed to do.

"I know that you already know my Princess. But I will still tell you anyway. You are not allowed to go into the woods and play. It is forbidden and most importantly it is dangerous." Alma explained, this time adorning her hair with a pink ribbon.

"But why is it so? What makes the forest dangerous? "Ellie asked further.

"There are many dangerous animals in the woods, my princess." Alma replied.

"But I am a werewolf and I can defend myself." Ellie objected, crossing her hands across her chest.

Alma patted her gently on the shoulder seeing that she was already getting upset.

"Yes you are right. You are a werewolf but you are just five, my princess. You won't be able to use your powers until you are sixteen because you are still a pup." Alma further explained.

"What is a pup?" Ellie asked.

"A pup is a baby werewolf." Alma replied.

"But I am not a baby anymore. I am already a big girl." Ellie objected.

Alma knew better as not to engage Ellie in an argument because she knows that Ellie doesn't back down until she wins.

"I agree with you, my princess. You are a big girl and you have won me again today." Alma replied in a bid to stop the argument.

"Yay!" Ellie rejoiced as she clapped her hands to celebrate her victory.

"Alright, you are fully prepared now. Your parents awaits you at the dining table." Alma said, ushering her out of her room to the dining room.

They got to the dining room and Alma helped her settle in her seat and she bowed and left.

"Good morning father. Good morning mother." She greeted as she finally settled down.

"How are you doing my lovely pup? Hope you had a lovely night?" Valerius asked as he looked at his daughter lovingly.

"I am fine, father and my night was splendid." She replied as she struggled to hold her cutlery.

"The small ones are just by the side." Greta said, reminding her that small cutleries were just beside the big ones.

"No mother. I will be fine with this. Things doesn't have to be always easy for me." Ellie replied as she joyfully nodded her head sideways.

Valerius was impressed at his daughter's smartness and wisdom. He felt lucky at that point that he was the father to a beautiful and intelligent daughter. He could only nod his head in agreement with what she just said.

"Why aren't I allowed to go into the woods? Alma says there are lots of dangerous animals there." Ellie asked.

"And she is right, my child. Not only are there dangerous animals, but there are dangerous creatures." Valerius replied while cutting a piece of meat and putting it in his mouth.

"Dangerous creatures?" Ellie asked.

"Yes, my child. They are also known as vampires." Valerius further explained.

"Vampires?" Ellie dropped her cutlery, wanting to hear more.

"Yes! Vampires. They are our enemies. Nothing good comes from them, my child. They have fangs which they use in hurting humans and werewolves alike." Valerius explained

"You know what fangs are, don't you Ellie?" Greta asked.

"Yes. Long sharp teeth. "Ellie replied confidently.

"Good. Those teeth cause pain and injects a poison which is harmful to the body." Greta explained further.

"That is why you are not allowed to go into the woods. Hope you understand now?" Greta continued.

"Yes mother." She replied faintly.

As soon as they were done with breakfast, Ellie offered to help the servants clean up the table but she wasn't allowed to. She felt so sad and disappointed so she ran off to be alone outside.

She sat on the cold stairs leading to the entrance of the palace and a beta named Kenan approached her and sat beside her.

He noticed that the ground was cold and said; "What a cold floor you are sitting on, my princess."

"They wouldn't even let me do any house chores. I feel useless." She replied sadly.

"Who says that our luna princess is useless. You are not useless, my princess. They are only trying to keep you safe. It would be bad for the servants if you got injured by knives or forks." Kenan explained.

She wasn't sure of what to say so she kept mute. Kenan knew he had defeated her but still wanted to make it up to her.

"Would you like to see the warriors training? " He asked and her lightened up with excitement.

"Yes!" She replied excitedly.

"In that case why don't we go to the field and see how the warriors are doing?" He stood and brought out his hand to lift her up.

He then took her to the field where the warriors trained. The gammas usually train the warriors in order to prepare them for battle. As they sighted Ellie, they acknowledged her and still continued with their training.

Ellie was delighted to see people fight with swords and knives. She immediately developed interest in fighting and decided that she was going to be a warrior in the future.
