Chapter 44: Intrusion

Felix and I lay cuddled together on his floor, surrounded by rose petals. My head rested on his chest where I could hear the thumping of his heart. Felix had his arms wrapped around me, holding me close and snug.

I took a deep breath and gave a content sigh. I had wanted this, wanted it for so long. But had always been convinced it was something I could never have. I’d believed that for so long that I’d nearly forgotten I’d had these feelings. And then I convinced myself that I was better off with Robin.

But now here I was in Felix’s arms; the arms of a man who loved me. Who had always loved me. And now I could admit to myself that I loved him.

As much as I wanted to stay there, there were things we needed to discuss. I shuffled forward gently, lifting my head to look Felix in the eye. He had a dreamy smile on his face that somehow put every dreamy smile Robin had given me to shame.

“Hey,” Felix said simply.

I had to smile. “Hey,” I said back.
