Chapter 24: Truths

I stood outside Jessica’s apartment and spent nearly five minutes second-guessing my decision to come here.

This is the right thing to do’ I kept reminding myself. I’m going to tell her how I really feel about her, and whatever happens is going to happen.

Of course, there was the risk that Jessica would just blow me off again, but I pushed those thoughts away.

The woman I loved felt the same way I did, and I couldn’t let her stay with another man just because she felt that was the best thing for us. I deserve to decide what’s best for me, and right now, the best thing is to be honest with Jessica.

Shoving any and all doubt out of my head, I knocked on Jessica’s door.

“You’re here early,” her voice came from the other side. The door opened and Jessica peered out with a big, beautiful smile on her face, but that smile faded when she saw it was me standing there. “Felix?”

I smiled at her, trying to make it convincing. “Hey, Jessica,” I greeted. “Can I come in?”
