The Love of a Vampire Prince.

"You are lying!" she retorted, her voice ringing with a blend of indignation and despair as she surged to her feet and crossed the space to his side. Her anger struck him as somewhat bemusing, and in a different circumstance, he might have been tempted to applaud her unyielding spirit. "I am an apex predator. I am what monsters and all things wicked fear. How could you imagine I would concern myself with something as fickle as emotions, let alone for a witch?" he asserted, his words delivered without the slightest quiver of doubt. His words landed like a blow to her very core. She had never anticipated such a stinging rebuttal from him. "If you can look me in the eye and tell me you feel nothing for me, then I'll leave you alone," she challenged, her tone calm amid the raging storm of emotion that churned within her. Her words felt like a knife piercing through his cold heart, leaving Damien to grapple with the weight of her final statement. He hesitated for a few fleeting moments before lifting his gaze to meet hers. "I don't," he declared, the words slipping from his lips with austere finality. Lauren's heart sank upon hearing his response; she sensed within her that he was not speaking the truth, but what recourse did she have? Before she could utter another word, the ringing of her phone pierced the solemn air. Engaging with the call, she answered, "Hello, Director." Briefly acknowledging the conversation, she swiftly concluded, "Alright, I'll be there," before ending the call. "Thanks for the meal once again," she offered in a flat voice, devoid of any discernible emotion. Damien found himself taken aback by the sudden shift in her demeanor, feeling the impulse to say something, but before he could gather his thoughts, she had already entered the elevator. Making her way towards the exit, she soon drove off, leaving Damien to stand before the towering windows, watching her departure with a silent ache lingering within him. As she disappeared, he turned his gaze inward, pondering the emptiness that seemed to pervade his residence. Reflecting on his actions, he found himself questioning whether he had made the right choice in pushing her away, but he understood that only time held the answers. Chapter 2 : Long Live The King.

"My king we need to leave to secure your safety" the head of the royal guard said to king draco.

"Take the prisoner back to the dungeon and assemble your men for battle to protect the kingdom" king Draco commanded.

Every vampire at the arena scurried to their houses while the council members and every commander of the Brennedon army went with the king into the war room to map out strategies for the attack.

"My king, with all due respect, if the legends were true, I'm afraid we can't win, you need to escape with the prince, while there is still time" the general commander asserted.

"I'd rather die trying than leave my kingdom to the fate of those merciless lycans, we stand and we fight" King Draco commanded.

"How far are they from the main city" King draco asked.

"Not too far my lord, they will be marching into the main city before dawn" the commander replied.

They looked through the map of the kingdom and discussed strategies and how to evacuate the children and women out of the kingdom quietly to minimize casualty....

"And if we dont make it out alive, the fledgling will carry on the bloodline of this kingdom...we will not be wiped out" king Draco bellowed..

Watching their king prepare to die for the kingdom , gave them the courage they needed to battle and win or die trying.

"Long lived the King" the general commander shouted, followed by a thunderous chorus from the legions of army inside and outside the palace.

The children and woman from all over the kingdom were gathered and moved towards the underground tunnel beneath the castle and outside the kingdom.

We came as fast as we can" king Fredrick marched into the palace with his men and soldiers.

"Thank you my friend" king Draco said as the two embraced each other.

King Draco briefed him on the plan so far , as they prepared for what's to come, just then a royal guard ran into the courts room, all bloody and on the brink of death.

"My king the lycans have made it into the palace through the servants quaters" he said before slumping to his death..

"We have a traitor among us, show yourself" king draco said unsheathing his swords and slowly turned to look at everyone in the room.

Before anyone could say Jack, the king had already dug his claw inside the chest of one of the council member, pinning him against the wall.

"How could you betray your own people?" The king asked..

"Its only a matter of time until your family is wiped out your majesty" he said mockingly before the king dugged his hands deeper and ripped out his heart from his chest, with a loud thud his body hit the ground.

"Papa, where is everyone"the four year old Damien asked as he walked in with his two friends, Derek and Damon....

"Damian, why are you kids here...you didnt go with the others?" The king asked terror written all over his face.

"Derek, damon...my boys"the general commander of the royal army called out to his sons as he carried them in his arms.

"We were playing in my room and them we fell asleep" Damien answered in his baby voice Which warmed the cold hearts of every vampire in the room.

"We need to take the kids out of here and away from the palace" the commander said.

"Its too late" said king Fredrick, just like everyone else, sensed the lycans approaching the royal palace...just then the iron door guarding the courtroom fell off its hinges with a loud bang.

"For brennedon" the chief commander thundered

"For brennedon" chorused the soldiers as they flung into battle.

The king carried the kids towards the throne, and behind, there was a small space on the floor of the palace covered with tiles...

He removed some few tiles and asked the kids to enter...

"Get in quickly" he said while the three children went it, thankfully it could fit all three.

The king stared at the beautiful faces of the boys looking up at him with hopeful eyes, his heart ached with the possibility of them not seeing their son again.

"Stay here and don't make any sound until I or the commander come for you... but if i dont come back after two hours, save yourselves..." looking at his son, who is the youngest of the three, his heart broke upon seeing the unspeakable fear in his eyes..

"Remember who you are, You are a Voltorie, the prince of Brennedon and you must live, all the three of you must live" the king commanded amidst a heavy heart. He kissed the boys before closing the tile.

Even as there were hidden under the floor, they could hear the howls of the lycans , the breaking of bones and the slicing of flesh against swords....they were terrified so much so that they peed on themselves.

After what seemed like two hours and no sign of the king or commander, the boys crawled out of the ground and were greeted with piles upon piles of giant dead bodies of lycans as well as dead bodies of mutilated vampires littered everywhere...

The children were mortified as they had never seen anything like it, making their way out of the main palace in search of the King and the commander. After few minutes of searching They finally saw the body of the king and the commander on the floor covered in blood..

The two siblings ran towards the corpse of their dead father while the prince ran to the king..

"Father" Damian shouted and fell on the kings body and wept..

"My boy" the king said in a whisper.

"Papa" Damien cried out again as soon as he heard the voice of the king.

"Shhh, you need to run , you and the boys need to run far away from here, do you understand me" he said barely audible as he tried to sit up.

"Papa are you ok, can you stand" he innocently asked, earning a smile from the king...

"My beautiful boy, i am fine but I cant stand up now, but papa need you to do something for him, can you do that?" the king asked, while he nodded vehemently..

"Take this rings, and this sword and run away from this kingdom, never look back" the king said putting on his neck a gold necklace with two ring pendants and handed him his sword..

"This sword and the ring had been handed down from generation, it is yours now, you have to carry on the legacy of the Voltorie, do you understand" the king said.

Sensing some lycans coming towards the palace, he hauled his son to his feet, seething his swords and wearing it around his son.

It was a heavy sword but he was confident that his son can carry it and escape.

Mustering enough strength, the king sat upright on the floor, a move that sent fresh wave of pain over him. The claws of the lycans were as poisonous to the vampires as the silver gun powder were to the werewolves.

"Enough crying boys, get up and run....run far away and never look back, this is my command" the king said and immediately the boys stopped crying and were on their feet, except Damien who was the only one in the whole realm immune to the compulsion of the king.

"Take him now and run" the king instructed the boys, who immediately pulled little Damien to his feet.

" run, now!!!" As soon as the boys ran out of the palace with a speed of light, the lycan king and his men alongside Kendrick stormed the palace.

"Papa, I will surely avenge you" whispered the four year old Damien as they ran through the forest while being pursued by giant lycans.

Damien awoke from an uneasy slumber and uttered a wordless gasp, the night mare was so real this time that he thought he was back at the palace that horrendous night.

Draped in cold sweat, he sat up and looked around the luxurious opulence of his bedroom, to be sure he was home.

Sighing, He tried to force himself back to sleep again, but after a few minutes he accepted his efforts as futile. With another sigh, he rose from his bed and went to the bathroom. Through the mirror's glass he looked in horror at what was reflected there--his now-golden eyes, with a ring of ice shimmering around the irises.

"What the hell..." he muttered in disbelief.
