4 Chapter 3: Gifts and the Law of Causality

1. [Passive Natural Talent] (Limited High Range): You obtain four times better results for the same amount of effort and time as others. It does not consume mana.

[Active Natural Talent] (Unlimited Very Low Range): You obtain 1.5 times better results for the same amount of effort and time as others. It consumes a small amount of mana for each active second.

2. [Quick Recovery Passive] (Limited High Range): You recover four times faster than others in the same conditions. It does not consume mana.

[Quick Recovery Active] (Unlimited Very Low Range): You recover 1.5 times faster than others in your same conditions. It consumes a small amount of mana for each active second.

3. [Passive Self-Healing] (Limited High Range): You heal from minor wounds in a few seconds, from serious wounds in a few minutes, from fractures in hours, and as long as you are alive, you can regenerate lost limbs and organs in several days. The healing time depends on the number of injuries and their severity; you do not regenerate lost main organs (brain and heart). It does not consume mana.

[Active Self-Healing] (Unlimited Very Low Range): You heal from minor and serious wounds a bit faster. It requires mana to function. Mana consumption depends on the severity of the wound, the amount of mana you wish to invest, and the user's mana control.

Of all the abilities I saw, these are the most outstanding, but I need to know some things before deciding. For example, each one has two versions, and as the deity previously said, one version is fixed and does not consume mana, while the other starts from the weakest but allows for continuous improvement and will eventually surpass the fixed version in effect, but it always consumes mana when used.

'I want to know, since these abilities are so different from those that can be acquired in that world, how they can be improved, whether it is only by using them constantly or if there are other requirements to improve them. My decision will be made after knowing that.'

"There is no hidden catch Alex. It is as I showed you. The abilities in their limited form are adjusted to the average development level of the world you are going to, which in this case is High Range, which is the fourth rank of the eight skill ranks in that world. They will do as said and will not consume your mana since the limited abilities are governed by different rules than the world you will go to.

On the other hand, the unlimited ones will be governed entirely by the rules of the world you are going to, so they develop as you understand their functioning and use them constantly. But if you want to accept a piece of advice, I will advise you to only take a single unlimited ability, and then the remaining ones be limited. The reason is that the time and effort required to develop abilities like these is not to be taken lightly, not to mention that you will also be limited by the mana you will have to develop those abilities. But that is just my advice, whether you take it or not is your decision," said the deity.

So I just have to understand and use the abilities constantly to develop them. If so, it is true that in the short term, the abilities with limited potential are better, but in the long term, where they will continue to improve to the maximum of their capacity, they could become unrivaled abilities.

But the deity's advice is also valid. On Earth, where the humans of the story of <The Second Coming of Gluttony> live, there isn't much mana, and while I'm there, I won't have many means to develop my abilities. On the other hand, in the 'Lost Paradise', there is plenty of mana. But my chances of survival over there without a certain degree of power and only with just potential would be almost nill. After all, the 'Parasite Queen' has ways of knowing the potential of humans and when she sees one with a lot of potential, she always sends for them to be eliminated or captured. I definitely don't want to go there without having a certain degree of self-protection power.

Whilst I know that I will be reborn in that world, I do not however know if it will be on the side of the Earth or in the 'Lost Paradise' , nor do I know in what time period. It may be before the story, during the story, or even after the story. If it is much earlier or much later then there are no significant threats to worry about. However, if it is during the period of the story, I will definitely have to make the utmost effort to improve my power.

"I see, it was my mistake I did not fully explain the circumstances of your rebirth, I thought that just saying the world and the story it would be enough, but I overlooked the background. Well, you will be reborn in the body of the protagonist of the story, Seol Jihu. As you will be reborn as said protagonist, you will have the weight of his responsibility, although it is your choice to live as you want, your actions have consequences, as dictated by the Law of Causality," said the deity.

It had been quite some time since his words had stopped affecting me, but when he said, "Law of Causality," I once again felt my body tremble and reacted to it in more than one way because in the story, that law is mentioned many times and although they explain it to some extent, I never fully understood it, 'If you could explain that law to me, I would appreciate it very much.'

"It is simpler than it seems. A cause has an effect, in this case, the cause is you taking the place of the protagonist. If you decide not to save the 'Lost Paradise', then the effect is simple, the 'Lost Paradise' will not be saved and you will have to experience the consequences, good or bad. I will only tell you that in the best case scenario someone else will take care of the problem, in the worst case the invasion may reach Earth at a time when it cannot be protected or saved in time. Therefore, only you who are the cause will be responsible for that effect," said the deity.

'Now I understand, but going back to the previous point, if I am to be reborn in the body of the protagonist, what will happen to his soul? Will it be lost? I really don't feel good about taking away someone else's chance to live and in case it is not lost and I don't take away the opportunity to live, will I still have the protagonist's ability, the [Nine Eyes] ?'

"The same answer applies to your questions. In reality, his soul will not be lost, it will merge with yours and since the ability is the effect of the original soul, as a cause, you will have the ability. You also don't have to worry about your memories, personality, and way of being affected, after all, you will be reborn from scratch and that means that soul will be a blank slate, the fusion will only bring the potential of the Golden Constellation to the mix and you will contribute the gifts you choose and your experiences and way of being. In the end, it is a win-win for both," said the deity.

'Golden Constellation, that word was used a lot in the story, but I don't remember much about what it referred to. They also referred to the protagonist of the other story that lives on the same Earth as Chaotic Constellation or something like that, can you explain?'

"Alright, but this will be the last thing I explain before you choose your gifts. Your soul is tuning too much to this state and if we delay much longer you run the risk of causing problems that will interfere with merging of both yours and the host soul, something that will prevent your rebirth and you don't want that," said the deity before continuing.

"In each universe, life manifests itself in different forms, at different levels and sizes. In the case of the world you are going to, the maximum level and size of life there is that of the Constellations. They are immense and their power is tremendous, but they are very lonely because they are such rare existences that sometimes they fail to find company at any time in their immense lives despite their power and long lives. The Golden Constellation is one of them. It has longed so much for company that it used all its power to cause its own rebirth, hence it was reborn in a human baby without memories or power from its previous existence. However, that does not change that the price or cause it paid was enormous and therefore the effect was not so common. It was reborn as a human baby, still having the potential of the same Constellation. However, power and potential are very different, as you can see in the abilities I showed you," said the deity before falling completely silent.

So that's how it is, that's why Seol Jihu was born with such a powerful innate ability and that is why he had such great potential. But it's true, the difference between potential and power is clear and potential is useless if not developed. Seol Jihu in the story was proof of that. Only until he decided to change and make a great effort did he begin to develop, but if he had done so from the beginning he surely would not have had to suffer as much as he did. Though he did not know that he would suffer. It was only when he saw it from the future vision that he did change, so that is also causality, I suppose.

So it's decided, given the circumstances, I don't need that many potential abilities. If I will have the potential of the Golden Constellation in my favor, then I will need more immediate power. I have decided, the abilities I want are;

[Passive Natural Talent] (Limited High Range)

[Quick Recovery Passive] (Limited High Range)

[Active Self-Healing] (Unlimited Very Low Range)

The first two passives because as they are, they do not consume mana and will be a great help in developing my potential, and the last one active because if I manage to develop it to the level of Wolverine, I won't have many things to worry about that can kill me in that world. Of course, it will be difficult to develop, but it will be worth it, I'm sure of it.
