Awakened

The Elf stared at him with a bored look, and a slight sigh "Take a seat please." I obliged and got a better look at him, like many Elf's his skin was near flawless, every species had base stat's and differences, for example humans were also called the slate, as that's pretty much what we are, we are so average we are always the perfect comparison for this phenomenon. We Humans have a fair hp, fair mana and stamina with a mediocre lifespan, nothing special, yet it also means we suffer from no weakness. Elf's have higher stat's with a 25 bonus to their stamina and mana along with 10 more starting hp, there skin is much cleaner and almost always near flawless, they heal scars much quicker as well, they tend to live for 40 more years than humans before their physical health start's to plummet, overall they are pretty much better humans. They have exactly 1 downside, Elven women are pregnant for 2 around years before birth and find it much harder to have kids in the first place, so compared to us their birth rates are abysmal, everyone knew an Elf was an Elf when you saw them, due to them sporting the signature pointy ears that everyone knows at but a glance.

This is a very prominent problem in Elven society so they are a somewhat uncommon species to see, and can make them targets for someone who needs powerful subordinates. Either way that didn't matter, not here at least. The Elf gave me a look over before speaking, "can I see your description scroll?" "Sure." I handed the scroll to him, he took it's binding's off before reading it for about 10 seconds, once he was done he looked up.

"Alright here's what I need you to do." He handed me a letter opener, one of the things on the desk that I didn't think very important but apparently it was. Once he handed me the letter opener he straitened up a bit and leaned forward. "Place your hand over the basin, slit a small line about 4 inches down from your pointer finger, not too deep by the way, but you do need to bleed without having to wait for the blood to pool first, once your bleeding stick your hand in the basin."

I let out a small sigh before hovering my hand above the basin and placing the letter opener against my skin, I hesitated a little as one would expect, "I can do it for you, if you want." he gave a slight shrug as he spoke, I shook my head, "No, it's just a small cut after all, I can do it myself." I tried not to go deep as the letter opener pierced the skin before moving to the right a little to open it a bit wider, after I let out a slight grunt and I was done, I placed the letter opener to the side and submerged my hand in the basin. Now that I had more time to look at the shimmering liquid, it was more prismatic than shimmering, like little fragments of broken light. After maybe 3 seconds my hand started to burn, I could barely even see it at the bottom of the basin. After maybe 4 more seconds it felt like my whole arm was on fire. At the last second it felt like my heart was closing and I couldn't breath. And all at once, it stopped, and a shimmering screen appeared in front of me. And the Basin's liquid turned black.

"Congratulations on awakening! Beginning core formation."

I lurched forward a bit feeling a fair bit surprised, and the Elf clearly caught on, quickly losing that bored look he stood up and spoke with a hint of surprise in his voice, "You actually awakened?" I tried to shrug like it was no big deal, I utterly failed, "I'm fairly certain I did, the big blue screen in front me seems to think so at least." By now the tiredness in his voice had wholly vanished. The Elf quickly rolled up the parchment and bound it once more and quickly stood up from the chair before grabbing a stone off the desk, it began to glow, "General Delran, I got an awakened down here, black core." Soon another voice sounded, coming from the rock, "Alright, take him to the main castle." The stone stopped glowing and he placed it back down. "You heard the man, just follow me, I'll explain on the way." The Elf walked over to the door and pushed it open, and so we set down on the dirt path that apparently led to a castle? As far as I could see there was no castle, so I decided to ask the Elf. "So, where is this castle that were supposed to be heading too?" He didn't look over as he spoke but rather kept his eye's on the road.

"It's not really here, rather there is dimensional door that lead's to it at the War room, oh, and since we are probably about to get more well acquainted my name is Zephyr. I'll give you the run down real quick, as you saw in the message it should have said that a core formation was under way yes?" I nodded "Once your core is fully formed you will actually be able to access your status and find out what your class is, it should take about 2 days for it form" I felt a little perplexed by that so I asked him, "As in I'll gain a new organ or something?" he gave a negative nod, "No it forms next to your soul, and just like it, is incorporeal." Zephyr went off the main path and we started weaving around the camp. Whilst we walked around the fellow trainees Zephyr spoke again, "Once you core is formed you can receive anything D tier or above, F tier classes only allow you to learn the most basic of class skills, D tier's can allocate stat point as well as learn much more skills. This is where things get much better, c tier and above have full system access able to learn every appropriate skill, allocate stat's and access the Inventory, from there on the only difference is the strength of the class itself."

Soon we found a much larger tent maybe a whole yard wide. "This is the portal room." zephyr opened the tent flap's and we walked inside. A massive array was painted over the dirt floor. "Come with me to the center, oh and don't step on the rune's." As we made our way to the center A marble arch appeared. "I don't think I need to tell you what to do." I nodded, "yeah." "Oh and by the way, your first time can be nauseating, try to keep your insides, inside." "Oh that sure sounds fun." I sighed, And so we stepped through the portal.
