Chapter 26: Unfair!

Br-ring!

Suzuki's alarm buzzed off of his drawer.

"Huh?" He lifted his face off the pillow. Then, reaching for the clock on the floor, he slipped off the bed and fell head first into the ground. All while the alarm clock kept ringing in his hands.

"Sh-shut up!" He screamed atop his lungs, enraged. "I get it."

Suzuki finally pressed the button, seated on the floor. He placed the clock back atop the drawer and stood up with a big yawn.

"Time for school, I guess." He scratched the back of his head, walking into the bathroom.

Slam!

He closed the door, even though he lived all alone. Then, while using the restroom and brushing his teeth, he seemed calm, almost as if he had forgotten something.

After getting dressed, he grabbed his side bag and keys.

"I'm leaving!" Suzuki shouted to the empty apartment.

Placing his wired headphones in, he played a sad song. Then, walking down the street, he kept staring at people's feet.

Finally, he walked into the usual StarCafe for a hot brewed coffee without making eye contact. Then, he seemed determined to take off his headphones and open the door.

"I swear this time. I will get what I want!" He pumped his fist up, walking into the line.

"Next!" A familiar voice called out to him.

"Hmm," he scuffed while gulping down his salvia, nervous.

"Oh, Suzuki-San, a medium-hot black coffee, as usual?" She asked him, this time allowing him to choose something else.

"Uh…." He pressed his lips.

"Uh-huh!" He nodded his head, pulling out his wallet immediately.

"We'll call when it's ready. Thank you so much." She bowed.

"Hmm." He sped away from the counter.

Seated down, he seemed anxious and a little sad. "I suck and haven't worked in a long time…." He complained, closing his eyes.

"I have to stop wasting money on coffee. It'll take me till next month to go broke if I do so while not working." He said to himself, tapping his index finger against his cheek.

"Suzuki-San?" A voice called out to him as he drifted into his mind.

"Hmm?" He looked back. A petite, brown-haired girl bounded to a wheelchair had tugged against his coat.

"Suzuki-San, I-well, me, I'm…" she struggled to say her word as her earth-like eyes drowned Suzuki in fantasy.

"Nagisa-Chan?" Her name floated off his tongue.

"Y-yes." For the first time, Nagisa sounded nervous. Her cheeks looked like a hot tomato.

"Coffee for Suzuki-San!" The barista shouted, informing him his coffee was ready.

"I-I-I ought to go. Nice to see you, bye." He stood up, staring into her eyes while reaching for his bag.

"Hmm, I will wait alone for my coffee." She twirled her thumbs around.

"Oh, okay, bye." Suzuki ran towards the barista, forgetting to thank her and speeding out the door without even looking in Nagisa's direction.

She scuffed, hiding under her beautiful long hair, and smiled softly.

The customers and staff were confused at why Suzuki speed walked out of the door without his arms moving and sipping coffee aggressively.

"That-that wasn't planned, not okay, and very embarrassing!" He shouted, making a disgusted face while looking at the cup of coffee. "Bitter, dark, and blah!" He stuck out his tongue.

"Oh my, he's handsome." A girl said about Suzuki while he walked into the campus.

"Him? He seems to be the player type. I'm more your type." A guy beside her said, trying to take her eyes off him.

Suzuki stopped, looking at the sign where the two stood in front and blocked. It ticked off the tough guy, thinking that Suzuki had heard their talk.

"What? Got a problem, wimp?" He lifted his upper lip in anger at Suzuki.

"N-not a problem." He shook his hands at them, walking away nicely.

"Hey, come back here." The guy demanded as Suzuki slowly walked back to them.

"Ye-yes?" Suzuki looked nervous, even fragile, like glass that anyone could shove off the edge.

"Homie, if you got a problem, say so!" The tough guy spoke smoothly, looking for trouble.

"Ya know what? See me in the housing, room 322. I've got something to show you!" He patted Suzuki with a big friendly smile.

"H-hmm!" Suzuki clinched his cup. Eyes shut, he turned and sped away.

Ding!

A bell announced the last class period.

More than usual, Suzuki felt exhausted.

"I've got work at 4:30 today!" Suzuki sighed while he caught a glimpse of the wheelchair angel.

"Woah!" His eyes grew, imagining himself walking and talking beside her smoothly.

"Hehe, not in a million years." He thought to himself, breaking away the wishful thinking.

Tmp!

Suzuki stopped at room 322 in the housing department, noticing a group made of eight tall guys, and among them was the tough guy from the morning.

"Come here, buddy!" He waved at Suzuki.

"Yes!" Suzuki nodded, walking over to his side.

"Go inside!" Someone opened the door while the tough guy shoved Suzuki inside.

"Wait, what? Why?" Suzuki fell to his rear, shocked.

"See! Ya looking at me dirty! Name's Osamu, and I'll teach you a lesson worth your time, trust!"

The tough guy, Osamu, cracked his knuckles. Then, the big group of eight uncontrollably shared taunting laughter at Suzuki.

"Should I crack his nose or shove it inside his skull, boys?"

"Hahaha!" He laughed at Suzuki, throwing a straight kick into his face.

Bam!

Suzuki's head impacted the ground pretty hard, causing him to feel dizzy.

"Why?" He asked himself and whichever being resided above him for an answer to why he was their target. "I wish I could just die..." Tears fell to his sideburns.

Never let yourself be the target.
