1 Chapter 1 - The Arrival

January 1st, 1985. {LOUISIANA} {THE ARRIVAL} {My name is Duncan Percival. It has} {always been my dream to attend} {Verility and now... My dream is about} {to be fulfilled. } {HOUSE OF PERCIVALS} {DUNCAN'S ROOM} {7:00AM} (Alarm rings)... DUNCAN:(Suddenly woke up)Verility! (Entered the bathroom)... (Six minutes later). (DOWNSTAIRS) (GATHERING ROOM) (Carried his bag)Hey! Tom! I'm heading out now. (Walked to the door)... ("I'm sure you all must be wondering who Tom is(Smiling). A matter of fact,he's my guardian") THOMAS:Hey kid! (Walked towards him and bent down before him)... DUNCAN:(In a hurry)what is it now? I'm gonna be late for school! THOMAS:Never let anyone tell you your limit. I believe you to be the smartest and most wonderful kid I've ever met. You don't let anyone decide for you, okay? Just be yourself(smiled). DUNCAN:(Frustrated)I've heard that lots of time. It's a daily routine stuff.(Raised his eye brows)Well then, can i get going? THOMAS:(Stood up)Yeah, sure. Hurry! You don't wanna be late on your first day(walked into the kitchen). DUNCAN:(Opened the door)Catch you later old man(smirk). (He left the house)... (VERILITY HIGH) (7:30AM) (FRONT GATE) (Duncan arrived at Verility as planned)... GATEKEEPER: (In a cold glare)Hey kid! You don't belong here. What do you want?(In a serious tone). DUNCAN:(Looking straight into his eyes)I'm a new student. Just got here sir. GATEKEEPER:(In a cold glare)Do you have the school's letter with you? DUNCAN:(Silent for a moment)... GATEKEEPER:Well, speak up kid!(In a furious manner). DUNCAN:(Scared of his murderous look)Uhm... Thing is... I don't have that kinda thing(embarrased). GATEKEEPER: (In a cold glare)Then what are you still doing here? Get lost before i drag you. DUNCAN:(Trying to convince him)I came here the other time with my guardian! I'm not lying! GATEKEEPER: (Moved closer to him and looked straight into his little blue eyes)And who the hell is your guardian?(In a serious tone)... DUNCAN: His name is Thomas. Thomas Crimpson. GATEKEEPER:(Trying to recall)Wait a minute... I think i know him!(Smiles at him). DUNCAN:(Trying to make him recall)Of course you do! He came here three days ago. GATEKEEPER:(Apologizing)I'm so sorry i didn't remember sooner.(Opened the gates of the school)You may pass. I really am sorry(Smiling in a stupid manner). DUNCAN:(Adjusted his bag and walked through the gates)It's okay. I understand. (He entered the school premises)... {SCHOOL CORRIDOR} {5 MINUTES LATER} (Walking by and synchronizing the environment)... DUNCAN:(Smiling and excited)Wow! So beautiful. I never knew a place like this existed. (Someone walked towards him)... ?? :You will learn to love this school more than you can imagine(Smiling). (A man in a red suit and a black tie)... DUNCAN:(Staring at him closely)Woah! You're Principal Henry Thwart(surprised). The Order of Verility. HENRY:(Smiling)I see you know me so well. Can i also know you, young sire? DUNCAN:(Shook hands with him)Duncan Percival!(Stammering in excitement)I'm you. I mean I'm me. HENRY:You look so happy to be here(Smiling). DUNCAN:(Smiling)This school has always been my life's dream. Been dying to come here. HENRY:(Laughing)I see. You look extraordinarily confident. DUNCAN:(Smiling)Yes i am. Thanks codger. HENRY:(Rhetorically)You know what i think? I think we're gonna get along so well. (Someone walks towards them)... Allow me to introduce Robert. Our very own buccaneer(smiling). DUNCAN:(Surprised) A real pirate? HENRY:No. Not a real one. We all know pirates aren't exactly real. ROBERT:(Whispers)Say that again! HENRY:He only has that nick only because of his toughness(smiling at Duncan). (Both smile at each other)... DUNCAN:(Finally calmed down)I was afraid for a moment. HENRY:(Smiling)Uhm Duncan, I'll see you later. Excuse me. (He left)... DUNCAN:(Waving at a distance)Later Codger! ROBERT:(Looks at him in a weird way)You're acting like a kid, you know? DUNCAN:(Scratching his hair)Yeah.. Sorry. ROBERT:(Placed his hand on his shoulder and smiled at him in a cool manner)It's cool. Lemme show you around. DUNCAN:That would be great(smiling). ROBERT: Cool. Follow me(walked towards the distance). (Robert showed him around)... (Thirty minutes later)... {F. L. E. T. H} (9:30AM) ROBERT:(Smiling)And finally.. Here we are. DUNCAN:Wow! What a beautiful fountain(Surprised). ROBERT:(Taps his shoulder)Don't be fooled by its cover. Learn to see through. DUNCAN:(Confused)I don't quite get it. What do you mean? ROBERT:It's a building(winked at him). (Walked towards the fountain)... DUNCAN:(Surprised)Really? ROBERT: Follow me and I'll show you(smiled). (Duncan followed him and they walked behind the fountain. Behind it was a button carved into it). DUNCAN:(Surprised)Is this really happening? ROBERT:(Smiles at him)This is where it gets exciting.(Pushed the button). (The fountain moved aside and an elevator came up to its position)... DUNCAN:(Opened his eyes wider)Did that just happen? ROBERT:(Opened the elevator and entered)Get your ass in here(chuckles). DUNCAN:(Snapped out of his excitement)Sure.(He walked into it)... What exactly is this place?(Curious)... ROBERT:(Smiled at him)You're about to find out. (He pushed the elevator button)... ELEVATOR SCANNER:(Beeping and scanning)Identity confirmed. Robert Anderson. Secret identity"LIVAMP". Access granted(In a female voice tone). DUNCAN:(Surprised)Did it just talk? ROBERT: That was our facility's artificial intelligence"Anna". DUNCAN:Really?(Surprised). ROBERT:(Smiling)Anna, bring us to the facility. ANNA:At once, Mr Anderson. {Elevator dings... Descending below at an incredible speed). DUNCAN: (Scared)We are gonna die! ROBERT:(standing still)Just hold on! DUNCAN:Ah!(Shouting)When is this... gonna... end?(Terrified). (Body hitting the elevator sides). ROBERT:(Standing still)Stop moving around! DUNCAN:(Feeling dizzy)My body can't hold on(vomiting). ROBERT: Yuck! Hang on! Almost there!(Smiling). DUNCAN: Where exactly are we going?(Terrified)... (Moving around)... ROBERT:(Standing still)A thousand and eighty feets below! DUNCAN:(Looked at the elevator floor reader)What? We are still seven hundred feets below?(Eyes opened wider). ROBERT:Hang on! It's gonna go faster now! DUNCAN:What are you... (Elevator drops faster in a speed of light)... Ah!!!(Body hitting the sides of the elevator). ANNA:Approaching in ten seconds. ROBERT: Hold on D! Almost... ANNA:We have arrived at the facility. (Elevator stopped(Dings), Door opened)... We are.. there. (Duncan dropped on the floor)... DUNCAN:Ow! That was one hell of an... (Vomiting). ROBERT:(Patting him)You'll get past it(smiling). DUNCAN:(Stopped vomiting)Warn me next time before getting on that "killing machine"!(Pointing towards it). ROBERT:(Helped him up)Will do(Smiling). (Duncan synchronized everywhere and noticed it was a different place entirely)... {MAIN BUILDING} {F. L. E. T. H} ROBERT: Welcome to F. L E. T. H(Freaks Lecturing Educative Technological Hideout)...(Smiling at Duncan). DUNCAN:(Staring at the view)This place is totally different(surprised). ROBERT: Not many people know about the existence of this place. We built this facility. Even the Order doesn't know(smiling). DUNCAN: What do you mean by " we"? (curious). ROBERT: You don't actually think I'm the only F. L. E. T. H member, do you?(Smiling). DUNCAN:(Confused)What do you guys do and how the hell do you have these techs that doesn't even exist? ROBERT:(Calming him down)Just relax. It's really nothing. Every tech piece here came from the far future. DUNCAN:(Surprised)You mean to say... BOTH:Time travel. DUNCAN:(Confused)Does that actually exist? ROBERT:(Taps his shoulder)You'll learn so much in these coming days. DUNCAN:(Confused)You have a lot of explanation to do. Besides, everything here is freaking me out. ROBERT:(Smiling)You'll understand soon enough. DUNCAN:(Curious)Where's the rest of the team? ROBERT:(Smiling)Out on a mission. Should be back any moment from now. (They both walked towards the Facility park)...(Southern gate opened and five speeding bikes raced in). (Bikes powered down right in front of them(Four feets away)). DUNCAN:(Surprised)What the... Who are these dudes in black jackets? ROBERT:Slow down. You wanted to know the other members. Well, here they are(Smiling). DUNCAN:(Curious)You guys terrorists or what? ROBERT:Nah! We don't row like that(smirk). We are the good guys. (He and Duncan walked towards them)... TYLER:Rob, mission accomplished(bump fists him). ROBERT: Great. Just what i was waiting to hear (smiling). JACK:(Receiving a phone call)... KYLE:Yo!(Pats his shoulder). JASON:Dude! It was a suicide mission. I almost died, okay? And you know death ain't no play stuff(furious). ROBERT:(Chuckles)I guess you live to see another day. ELENA:Hello Duncan(smiling). DUNCAN:(Freaked out)What the... How the hell did he know my name? ROBERT: It's not a "he". It's a "she". ELENA:(Removed her helmet)Hey(smiling). DUNCAN:(Heart beating slowly)...(What the hell is going on?).. Err...(drooling). ROBERT:(Smiling)Don't be surprised. She's a psychic. DUNCAN:(Suspicious)A what? What exactly are you guys? ROBERT:(Stood beside them)Can you handle our secrets?(In a serious tone). JASON:Rob! Oh come on! Are we just supposed to trust this guy?(He left their presence). ELENA:Trust me y'all, he's the best shot we've got. DUNCAN:(Confused)I don't understand. What are you guys talking about? ROBERT:(Smiling)You know my name already. I'm a " LIVAMP". An half listener and a vampire. Although I haven't been able to tap into my Vampiric powers yet. Been finding a solution though. TYLER:(Plugs his bike to the support holder)Sorry. I'm Tyler Dickson. Secret... classified. You can't understand yet. JACK:(Pressing his phone)I'm Jack Wisnold. A Werewolf apparently. Not a big deal. KYLE:(Smiling)I'm Kyle Warlin. I'm... You know, a Vampire. But... Your age, you know? DUNCAN:(Confused) I think I'm in a fantasy world. This is... ROBERT: Unbelievable? DUNCAN:(Nods his head in a positive way)Well.. Yeah! ROBERT: You... ELENA:It's okay Rob. Leave him be(stopped Robert from talking). DUNCAN:(Curious)And.. You are? ELENA:(Looking straight into his eyes)Elena Stacy. I'm a Psychic. I have the ability to read people's thoughts and also... I enter different worlds. DUNCAN:(Trying hard not to believe)I can't believe this. None of this is true, right? You're all just trying to prank me, isn't it? ELENA:(Sees through his heart)You have a secret too. DUNCAN:(Confused)What do you mean by secret?(Laughing in a stupid manner)Are you guys trying to make a fool out of me by doing this? What secret? I haven't got no secret. ELENA:(In a curious manner)What are you? DUNCAN:Duh! Obviously human(opened his eyes widely). ELENA:(In a serious tone)No.. You're not! I see a hybrid of all. You are something else. Something superior. Something far out of this world. JASON:(Walked towards them)Sorry I took long. I got info on him. DUNCAN:(Curious)What are you? JASON:(Cleared his throat)I'm Jason Rowen. The human figure(bowing). Not supernatural(smiling). I deal with ehm.... tech. ALL:(Looked in his direction and got confused) Since when? JASON:(Chuckles)Well, since now. ROBERT:So... What do you have there? JASON:Apparently, he was raised by a man who lives in a forest. Name's Thomas Crimpson. It says here "Guardian of the House of Percivals". What does it mean?(Confused). JACK:Can i see the info?(Snatches the chart). JASON:Hey! I haven't said yes!(In an angry manner). JACK:(Sliding through and finally noticed something)I think I've seen this before(trying to recall). I'm sorry, can i see your necklace? DUNCAN:Sure(brought it out from beneath his shirt). JACK:(Looking at it closely)This is a family crest. Not an ordinary family. I never knew it actually existed(in a serious tone). TYLER:Jack, what is it? Where does the damn necklace belong?(Curious). JACK:(Looked straight into their eyes)It belongs to... The Percivals(In a terrified manner). ALL:(Scared)What? ROBERT:(In a fearsome tone)I thought it was just a Legend. KYLE:Holy mother of peanut! Like seriously?(Scared). JASON:Please tell me this isn't happening. TYLER:Percivals as in... Percivals! ELENA:You guys calm down! He's not a threat, okay? He's an ally(makes a warm smile at him). DUNCAN:(Confused)Why are you guys scared of me? JACK:Because... this belongs to a family of beasts. How did you manage to get this?(Curious). DUNCAN:(In a blank expression)I'm Duncan Percival. JACK:(Opened his eyes widely)Holy Caesar's ghost! You're a Beast(in a terrified tone). DUNCAN:(Confused)What the hell is that? What does it mean?(In a freaked out manner)You mean to say I'm not human?(He saw their facial expression and found out they were serious about it). That.. That can't be possible(In a sad tone). JACK:(In a serious tone)I'm guessing no one ever told you about who you are. ELENA:(Concerned)You didn't know about this? DUNCAN:(Voice shaking) Tom never told me anything. He only told me about me being the only survivor of my family. Told me they were all slaughtered like animals.(Tears dropping)I've been in that God damn forest ever since i was born. I never made any friend. Never really had a real life. How the hell was i supposed to know?(Tears dropping). ELENA:(Walked closer to him and gave him a warm hug)No matter what anyone says, you're you and you'll always be you. That's the one thing that can never be taken away from you. You're no longer alone(smiling). You've got us now. We'll be your friends. We'll help you learn to use your powers and harness them for the greater good.(walked back to her former standing position). ALL:Welcome to F. L. E. T. H(smiling). (Cheering him up)... DUNCAN:(Wiped off his tears)Wait... I'm one of you guys now?(Excited). ELENA:Yeah(smiling). DUNCAN:(Excited)Do i get a bike and a cool jacket? ROBERT:Uhm.. We'll think about that.(In a sly manner). (All laughing)... {HOUSE OF PERCIVALS} {4:45PM} (Duncan entered the house)... DUNCAN:I'm home!(Closed the door). (Thomas came out of the kitchen)... THOMAS:(Smiling)Welcome back kid. DUNCAN:Yeah...(Went upstairs). (Few minutes later)... {DUNCAN'S ROOM} THOMAS:(Knocking at the door)Duncan, I'm coming in. (He entered and found him sitting at a corner in his room)... Oh my God! What happened to you?(Moved closer to him and bent down). DUNCAN:(Tears dropping)Why didn't you tell me? THOMAS: Tell you what?(Concerned). DUNCAN:(In a serious tone)Oh come on Tom! Don't you fucking pretend you don't know the hell I'm talking about! THOMAS:(Confused)What... What do you mean? What's going on with you?Why are you acting in this repulsive manner?(Curious). DUNCAN:Oh.. I don't know. Maybe cause I'm a fucking Beast!(Tears dropping). (In an angry manner)... THOMAS:(Silent for a moment)How.. How did you find out?(In a guilty tone). DUNCAN:(Furious)Who knows? People who cared more about me than you do might've told me. THOMAS:(Puts his hand on hi shoulder)I want you to know that i did that to protect you. I was left with no choice kid. DUNCAN: But I'm not a kid anymore! You shoulda told me(tears dropping).(Furious) I trusted you Tom! I thought you of all people knew how i felt even when i was little. You should've given me some credit, you know? I don't even know what to believe anymore. THOMAS:Calm down Duncan. I'm sorry i wasn't honest with you, okay? I really am sorry. It's just.. things were really hard and i was either left with a choice to go with you or live my life with regrets. I chose you. You gave me the will to keep moving on. I don't want you to hate me my boy.(Embraced him). DUNCAN:If you want me to understand you, never ever keep anything from me ever again(Looking straight into his eyes). THOMAS:(Wipes his tears off)I won't. DUNCAN: Promise me Tom(in a serious tone). THOMAS: I swear on... On my cooking recipes. (Both silent for a moment and then suddenly burst into laughter)... DUNCAN:(laughing) Recipes! Seriously? THOMAS:(Laughing)Come here you naughty kid. (Duncan embraced him)... DUNCAN: I love you Tom. THOMAS: I love you too kid. And i think it's high time you called me Dad. DUNCAN:(Laughing)You know I'll never say that. (Both laughing).... THOMAS: Silly kid(chuckles). (Suspenseful tone playing)...
