The Liquid Disciple

Born into an ordinary family, Rav, who always looked up to disciples and benders, hopes he can change his family's fate by entering a bending academy. However, his hopes were quickly crushed as they deemed his talent trash. With this, they said he would only be able to reach slightly more than a non-bender's strength. Others deemed him useless and called him "The Crippled Bender." With nowhere else to go, he decided to go to the non-bender corps to hone his strength but one day, a strange phenomenon happened which put his life in danger. However, just as he was a bout to give up, a strange silhouette saved him. He woke up in his own room with his eyes only being able to see one thing. [Welcome, Heir of The Liquid Legacy] --------------- Disclaimer: The MC underestimates his strength at first but gets adjusted to it after a few chapters. Potential Element Tests

A few people his age passed by the street and the girl who was standing in the front of the group asked him if he wanted to come with them to watch the Purple Blossom Sect's tests for outer disciples which was being held by an inner disciple near they're neighborhood since there was a small arena nearby.

The Purple Blossom Sect was one of the bending academies which focused on alchemy and. medicine.

The girl who was leading the group, which was one of Rav's friends, knew that Rav had a decent amount of theoretical knowledge about those two things so she thought he might be interested in attending.

Rav thought for a moment before nodding his head in disagreement as he was still more intrigued in observing the water droplets rather than watching the sect's tests.

After a few more moments of fruitless persuasion, the small group of people said their goodbyes and proceeded to move forward outside their neighborhood towards the small arena.

Once that was done, Rav once again watched the water droplets fall off several blades of grass with several thoughts on his mind,

"Hmm, I wonder what my result will be tomorrow...even if I only get an average result in the potential tests and only have high sensitivity to my affinity, that should still give me an advantage in comprehending martial techniques"

Indeed having a high sensitivity to an affinity can help you comprehend techniques which focus on your element therefore having an easier way to increase one's strength.

"...but in the unlikely case that I really do have immense amounts of potential..."

Badump, badump,

Rav's heart couldn't help but beat in excitement at the thought of having talent rivaling a genius.

He also completely disregarded the fact that there was still a chance for him to get below average or even trash potential since his dad said that everyone who had this attraction to a certain element became powerhouses or even heroes of the human race.

After a few more hours of thinking and observing the water droplets, he decided to stand up from his crouching position and go back home to read some books about the different professions.

"This Rank 1 herb Drowsing Grass is a herb which relaxes the mind and is popular in many different alchemy recipes as it helps release built-up tension...,"

Rav mumbled before flipping the page and reading more about different Rank 1 and low Rank 2 herbs and also a few basic alchemy pill and potion recipes.

After spending about 3 hours of flipping through 50 pages of the book, he placed the book down and took a thin looking book and opened it,

"Shining Jade is a Rank 1 mineral which can be used for multiple items such as communication devices"

Rav read before flipping the page and reading a bit more about crafting techniques and minerals/metals.

After only 1 hour of flipping through 20 pages and rereading, he decided to pick up a booklet which looked to be only 2 pages long and read the title,

"Everything about Potential Element Exams,"

This was a booklet give to everybody who signed up for potential element tests which was gonna be happening tomorrow

After skimming through everything and taking note of all the procedures that were gonna happen, he decided to flip the page and the first thing he saw was,

"Procedures for Special Cases:

Special Cases are people with immense talent which the whirling water test can't measure,

The first thing to do in this situation is to check the core of the person to confirm if he/she really is a special case by using an elemental crystal since in most cases, they would have most likely unconsciously cultivated and have already advanced in the core formation stage at least once or twice..."

Rav kept reading through the booklet with serious eyes as he considered himself to have a possibility of being a special case.

Shortly after he finished reading all the books, his father Ren Ki came back home and noticed the books which were littered on the floor,

"Huhuhu, confident that we're a special case, aren't ya Rav" Ren said with a teasing but also proud expression,

"I have a chance at least, and in the case I am, I've gotta be aware of what to do right" Rav said with an embarrassed expression,

"Hehe, don't worry, I'm just teasing you" Ren said while bringing his son towards him for a hug and nudging his head

"But don't get your expectations too high or you might feel really disappointed" Ren said with a solemn expression on his face

"Yeah don't worry dad, I'd be more than happy if I even get average talent because I still have my sensitivity to affinities" Rav said while looking at his father with a warm smile on his face,

"Ok kiddo, anyways wash up and let's eat so you can sleep early for tomorrow" Ren said before walking out the door to prepare the food.

After an hour of doing his monthly routine, Rav decided to go to bed and sleep earlier than he usually does but he only slept an hour later because of his excitement for tomorrow's event.

-------------------------

The next day,

While Rav was sleeping comfortably, two footsteps barged into his room,

"Wake up sleepyhead if you don't wanna miss the tests" Ren said before going out of the room

After rubbing his eyes, Rav smiled as he remembered that today was the testing date.

After eating breakfast and doing his morning routine, Rav dressed up in his best clothes.

Walking outside, a handsome young man with chestnut brown hair and azure blue eyes wearing black robes with golden streaks accompanied by a middle aged man wearing purple robes with white and gold accents, had an excited expression as the middle-aged man said,

"Let's go Rav!"

The father-son duo proceeded to walk towards the small green colored arena where the Purple Blossom Sect's tests were being held.

This was the assigned venue for the the Potential Element Test.
