A Ghost

"Hmmm, What just happened?", Travis thought as he stood up from the floor. His vision was cloudy and his memory was fuzzy as he stood up.

He remembered him picking a book from a shelf in his grandfather's storage room.

However, After the light from the book covered Travis, a very excruciating pain hit him. It was so painful that Travis went unconscious since he couldn't bear the pain.

"Hey, young boy!", Travis suddenly heard a voice from behind him.

"Huh? Who is that?", Travis said as he looked around him but still couldn't see anyone.

"Hey, Young boy, I am up here!", The voice came again. However, it was louder this time.

Travis then raised his head and looked up only to see a human floating in the storage room. He was very handsome and middle-aged to the extent that he looked beautiful and he wore a white cloth which had golden inscriptions of a dragon. He had this kind of sacred aura around him that made him seem like a god. He also had blue hair which made him look like a divine being; his eyes looked like they were filled with countless galaxies showing their true beauty.

However, there was something wrong. And that was the fact that the man was actually floating through the sky without any superpower! Whenever one is using a superpower, it could be seen since a glimmer of any colour surrounded the person using his superpower. However, this man didn't have any glimmer around him which showed that he was using a superpower.

This meant the man was actually floating in the sky without any superpower. And from what Travis heard, the only people who could actually float in the sky without a superpower were...

"Ghost! There is a ghost in grandpa's ostorage room! Grandpa help me! Please help me!", Travis yelled loudly as he ran for the exit.

"Huh? What nonsense are you sprouting?" seeing Travis run away with a terrified look, the middle-aged man looked at him with confusion.

"Help Grandpa, help!", Travis shouted as he continued to run away. However, the middle-aged man continued to stand in the sky with a confused look.

"Seems like this boy has his fears!", The middle-aged man said as he slowly vanished into thin air.

"Shut up! You fool!", the middle-aged man suddenly appeared in front of Travis scaring the hell out of him as he was running for the exit and covering his mouth to prevent Travis from making any noise. Travis tried to free himself but it wasn't working.

"Ahh! Hmm, Mhh!", Travis made muffled sounds as he tried to speak.

"Now listen! I am not a ghost. I am a soul! A soul! One that was once a great hero!", the middle-aged man said to Travis.

"Do you understand?!", the middle-aged man continued.

"Hmm!", Travis continued to nod his head which showed that he understood.

"Good! Now I am going to leave you alone. Don't make noise.", the middle-aged man said as he slowly left Travis' mouth.

"So you said you are a soul right? Hmm, Wait, aren't souls ghosts?!", Travis asked with a terrified look on his face.

"No! Souls aren't ghosts. Souls are spirits of various beings extracted before they die while ghosts are spirits released from the body when someone dies!", the middle-aged man said speechless. Why are you twisting logic like that?

"Oh I see", Travis said with his eyebrows raised, quickly regaining his calm.

"I wonder why you can still keep your calm after seeing me," the middle-aged man said curiously.

"It's not like I'm calm or anything. It's just that I know that I won't be able to escape from you if you want to do something to me. So there is no need to panic.", Travis said nonchalantly as if he didn't care.

"Smart! I like it!", the middle-aged man said excitedly.

"Okay, so who are you?" the middle-aged man said.

"My name is Travis.", Travis said.

"Mine is Drey. Even though it's not my real name just call me that.", the middle-aged man said.

"Huh? Em, Drey? How did you get here?", Travis asked.

"Well you see, it's like this..."

******

"Huh? What do you mean you came from the book?!", Travis asked Drey. The explanation Drey gave to Travis about how he got here was pretty long. But in short, He said he was once a mage~ the greatest one ever and he used the lightning element. However, He decided to pass on his inheritance to another person so he used a technique and locked his soul into a book. And the book would open to whoever was worthy of his power. That book was the book Travis saw earlier.

"I used a technique. I have already said it.", Drey said.

"Okay. Now, where will you be staying? You can't be following me around. It will be kinda scary.", Travis said.

"Don't worry. I will live in your spiritual space.", Drey said.

"Huh? What is that?", Travis asked.

"I will tell you later. For now, I want to follow you around. Don't worry no one will see me. I want to see what era we are currently in.", Drey said.

"Uhm, okay. Not Like I can disagree.", Travis said.

"Wait so you mean I will also get the lightning power too?", Travis asked excitedly.

"Yes. And I am going to teach you how to master it", Drey said with a smile making him subconsciously shiver.

"Then teach..", Travis tried to speak.

"No no yet. You are currently too weak.", Drey said even before he could finish.

"Weak?"

"Yes Weak. You are too WEAK!"

"Em, okay. Let's head outside now", Travis said timidly.

He thought he was going to be like those cool MC's in books but who could have guessed that he wasn't even strong enough to get the superpower.

"Don't forget to pick the book. It will be needed", Drey said sensing his mood.

"Okay", Travis said as he picked the book from the floor.

*******

"Gramps, I am back", Travis said as he entered his grandfather's room.

"So what did you decide to take?", Mr Leo asked.

"This book. I chose this book.", Travis said as he showed his grandfather the book.

"Huh? This book? Are you sure? It's not good you know.", Mr Leo said when he saw the book.

"I still want it", Travis said with resolution.

"Hm, It's your own choice. You can take it. However, You were supposed to choose a better item. Not a book with blank pages Now go home else you will be late", Mr Leo said.

"Okay, Gramps. I will get going!", Travis said as he stood up and headed for the door.

"Goodnight grandpa", Travis said before closing the door. After Travis left, a strange expression appeared on his face.

"Hmm, That book...", Mr Leo said with a mysterious smile on his face.
