5 The Quirk Assessment Test

You woke up to the sound of your alarm clock going off. You pressed the button to make it stop and started getting ready for your first day at UA High.

As soon as you put on your new school uniform, you looked at yourself in the full-length mirror to admire your new High school look. You couldn't help but smile at yourself in the mirror. You are officially a student of UA High, the same school your parents went to.

"Sweetheart! Come down and have some breakfast before you head to your first day at UA!" Kami called out from downstairs.

You went downstairs and joined your mom at the dining table. There, she made you your favorite rice omlette and toast.

"Congratulations on making it to UA!" Your mom beamed as she sat down at the table with her breakfast.

"I heard that Izuku and Katsuki got into UA, too. Are the three of you going to be in the same classroom?"

"Well, I know that me and Katsuki are going to be in Class 1-A together, but I don't know about Izuku." You replied.

Speaking of Izuku Midoriya, you were surprised when he told you that he got into UA, too. Maybe he got in by earning Rescue Points instead? You feel bad for doubting him.

"Even if it's not all three of you, at least one of them will be in the same class as you."

You nodded in agreement. As soon as you were finished eating, you said good bye to your mom and grabbed your school bag. You then pulled out your phone and checked for any new messages from your dad. You frowned when you didn't see anything from him this time. The only notification you got was from your calender about your first day of school today. You put your phone away as you tried not to let it get you down too much. Your dad is the Symbol of Peace. He's probably too busy saving someone to send you just one text or voice mail. You sighed. You know that your dad is keeping other civilians safe, but the least your dad could do was send you at least one text. Your phone suddenly chimed in your pocket and you instantly pulled it out, hoping that it was something your dad sent you. It wasn't a text message from your dad, but you smiled as you read the message.

Kacchan: Hey

Kacchan: I saw you ranked #2, so... congratulations.

Kacchan: But I ranked above you!!

Me: I couldn't have done this without you!  You're the one who gave me the push I needed😉.

Kacchan: Whatever! Shut up!

You giggled at his response as you put your phone back into your pocket. Ever since you met Katsuki, you've become more competitive and he drove you to become a stronger version of yourself. Even if you won't be in the same class as Izuku, you're really glad that the three of you will be attending this school together.

Once UA came into your sight, your smile reappears. You've worked so hard to get into this school. Now, you are here! You quickly went to Class 1-A. The first thing that came into your mind was that the doors were huge! Your guess is that they were also for those who had Quirks that made them gigantic. Shaking off the thought, you opened the door and was greeted by the uptight student from orientation yelling at someone. His broad figure was blocking the person, but you recognized that raspy voice.

"Take your feet off of that desk, now!"

"Huh?" Katsuki replied.

"It's the first day and you're already disrespecting this academy by scuffing school property, you cretin!"

"You're kidding me, right? Your old school put a stick up your ass? Or were you born with it?"

Yeah. Same old Katsuki Bakugou even after getting into UA. You were about to call out to him when a boy with red spikey hair walked up to you.

"Hey! Glad to see we're in the same class." The red-haired boy greets, revealing a shark-toothed smile.

You looked at your new classmate strangely. He does look familiar, but where have you seen this guy?

"We met during the practical exam." The boy rolls up his sleeve and hardens his arm.

You gasped as you finally recognized the boy you helped. "Oh, right! You're Kirishima!"

"Yeah, and your name is Hikari Yagi, right?"

"Yeah." You both shook hands.

"Hey, hot stuff! Do you remember me?" Asked a boy with blond hair.

You recognized the boy that short circuited during the exam.

"Yeah... you're the guy that fried his own brain after using his Quirk, right?"

Your words stabbed the guy's ego and you laughed. Izuku soon walked into the classroom with the girl you met at the entrance exam. He myst be in Class 1-A, too. You then found out the girl's name is Ochaco Uraraka, and the uptight student's name is Tenya Iida. Before you could learn more about your classmates, a voice spoke.

"If you came here to make friends and chit chat, I suggest you leave, now."

You all looked outside the classroom door and saw a man in a sleeping bag on the floor. Creepy! Is this guy supposed to be a pro hero? He looks so... worn out. After he removes himself from the sleeping bag, he introduces himself as our homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa. He then pulls out a gym uniform from the bag.

"Right. Let's get to it. Put these on and head outside."

Outside? What about orientation? What could be more important right now?

"What? A Quirk assessment test?" You all asked Mr.Aizawa in unison.

You were all outside in the track and field area wearing the gym clothes your teacher gave you.

"But orientation! We're gonna miss it!" Protested Uraraka.

"If you really wanna make the big leagues, you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies." Mr.Aizawa replied and you all gasped. "Here at UA, we're not tethered to traditions. That means that I get to run my class however I see fit." You started to feel nervous now. Something tells you that this teacher is going to make your High school days a living hell. "You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives. But you never got to use your Quirks in physical exams before. The country's still trying to pretend we're all created equal by not letting those with the most power to excel. It's not rational. One day, the Ministry of Education will learn." He then turns to Katsuki. "Bakugou, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam. What was your farthest distance throw with a softball when you were in Junior High?"

"Sixty-seven meters, I think." Katsuki replied.

"Right. Try doing it with your Quirk. Anything goes, just stay in the circle. Go on. You're wasting our time."

"All right, man, you asked for it." Katsuki warms up his arm and used his Quirk as he threw the ball. He threw it at a good distance with his Quirk, but did he really have to yell "Die!" as he threw it?

"All of you need to know your maximum capabilities." Mr.Aizawa said and then he faced all of you. "It's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a pro hero." He pulls out his phone and showed you that Katsuki's score is 705.2 meters.

All the students except Katsuki gasped at the score. One by one, everyone started to get excited. They all exclaimed how fun it looked, but your excitement diminished when your teacher spoke.

"So this looks fun, huh? You have three years here to become a hero. You think it's all gonna be games and play time?" He smirked and you tensed up. "Idiots. Today you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last has none, and will be expelled immediately."

You and your classmates were all shocked by what he just said. You hoped that he was joking, but he doesn't seem like the type to make jokes. Plus, he looked dead serious. You all have worked so hard to get into this school and he has no problem with expelling one of you on the very first day!?

"Uh, sir..." You hesitantly spoke up as you raised your hand. "Isn't immediate expulsion on the first day of school a bit harsh--"

"Like I said, I get to decide how this class runs." He interrupted you then he moves his hair out of his face and looks at you dead in the eyes. "Understand? If that's a problem, you can head home right now."

You lowered your hand and didn't say another word.

"But you can't send one of us home!" Uraraka cried out. "I mean, we just got here! Even if it wasn't the first day, that isn't fair!"

"Oh, and you think Natura disasters are? Or power-hungry villians? Hm? Or catastrophic accidents that wipe out whole cities? No, the world is full of unfairness. It's a hero's job to try to combat that unfairness. If you wanna be a pro, you're gonna have to push yourself to the brink. For the next three years, UA will throw one terrible hardship after another at you. So, go beyond. Plus Ultra style." He beckoned to you and your classmates. "Show me it's no mistake that you're here."

You don't like how this is going, but UA's the top hero program, so you have no choice. Plus, Mr.Aizawa is right. Not everything is fair in this world. When you and your classmates become Pro Heroes, you have to be ready to face whatever hardship is in this world.

"Now then. We're just wasting time talking. Let the games begin."

The first test was the 50-meter dash. Thanks to your Quirk, you got the fastest score of 2.92 seconds. That's .12 seconds faster than Iida. The second test was grip strength which you think you did ok on, considering your Quirk initiates from your feet. The third test was standing long jump, the fourth test was repeated side steps, and the next was the ball throw that Katsuki already did.

"If Midoriya doesn't shape up soon, he's the one going home." Iida says once it was Izuku's turn.

"Huh? Of course he is. He's a Quirkless loser." Katsuki says as he points at Izuku.

"He has a Quirk. Did you not hear about what he did in the entrance exam?"

What is he talking about? Izuku has a Quirk?

"Iida, what are you talking about?" You asked. "Ehat happened during the entrance exam?"

Before Iida could answer your question, Izuku threw the ball. As expected, his score is forty-six meters, but he looked utterly shocked as if... he was trying to do something.

"I erased your Quirk." Mr.Aizawa sternly says to Izuku. His pupils were glowing red and his hair was flying wildly. He was also tugging on the scarf around his neck. "The judges for the exam were not rational enough. Someone like you should never be allowed to enroll at this school.

You noticed the yellow goggles around his neck that was hidden in his scarf. You remembered who this guy was! He can look at someone and cancel out their powers.

"You're the Erasure Hero - Eraser Head!" You and Izuku exclaimed at the same time.

You classmates also recognized the Pro Hero and started to talk about him.

"You're not ready. You don't have control over your power." Eraser Head rebuked. "Were you planning to break your bones again? Counting on someone else to save your useless body?"

"No! That's not what I was trying to do!" Izuku spoke up.

Aizawa pulls Izuku close to him with his scarf. He said something to him, but you couldn't make out what he's saying.

After a while, the teacher deactivates his Quirk and releases Izuku. "I've returned your impractical Quirk. Take your final throw. Hurry and get it over with."

"What did Mr.Aizawa say to Izuku?" You questioned. "Did he give him some advice?"

"Probably told him to start packing." Katsuki scoffed.

Izuku threw the ball again. You thought it was going to be in the double digits like the first throw, but yours and Katsuki's mouths dropped when his next throw went up to 705.3 meters! And it looked like he activated a Quirk because his index finger was broken. What the hell just happened!? If he had a Quirk all this time, why didn't say anything?! Why didn't he tell you!? How long has he had it?! When did it manifest!? Why didn't he fight back against Katsuki?!

"I'm getting to the bottom of this." Katsuki growled out before he starts running towards Izuku yelling, "Hey! Deku, you bastard! Tell me how you did that or your dead!!"

You were going to stop the blonde from murdering the terrified nerd, but Mr.Aizawa beat you to it by activating his Quirk and using his scarf.

"What? Why the hell is your damn scarf so strong?" Katsuki questioned, looking back at your teacher.

"Because it's a capture weapon made out of carbon fiber and a special metal alloy." Aizawa replied sternly. "Stand down. It'd be wise to avoid making me use my Quirk do much. It gives me serious dry eye."

That's too bad. That power is amazing!

"You're wasting my time now." Katsuki is released from the scarf. "Whoever's next can step up."

Izuku ran away from Katsuki and towards Uraraka. You didn't understand what was happening with Izuku, but you had to focus on finishing the rest of the physical fitness tests. Fortunately, your teacher lied about sending one of you home. He only said that to make sure you gave it your all in the tests. The only person who knew Mr.Aizawa was a female student with a black ponytail.

By the end of the day, you got to know the names of the rest of your classmates before heading home. You were so tired. First your homeroom teacher makes you all do a Quirk assessment test and lies to you about expelling one of you, and there was Izuku! For as long as you've known him, he's been and always been Quirkless. If he had a Quirk, when did he get it and why didn't he tell you about it?

"Hey, Hikari!"

You looked back and saw Katsuki striding towards you.

"Did you know that shitty Deku had a damn Quirk?" Katsuki interrogated. You can tell he was still annoyed about what happened during the Quirk assessment test.

"No... I was in the dark about this too."

Katsuki's POV

My eyes widened when Hikari told me that she didn't know about Deku's Quirk either. Aren't they close? She didn't She looked... so sad. Is she seriously upset because Deku didn't tell her a damn thing? Shit! How the hell did Deku get into UA?!

"How do you know Shitty Hair?" I changed the subject.

"Who?" Hikari gave me a confused look. Dammit! What was that guy's name?

"The... the guy with red hair."

"Wait, you mean Kirishima!?" Hikari giggled and I got pissed. "We met during the entrance exam. You should learn to remember his name since he's our classmate."

"Who gives a crap?! Also why were you talking to that damn extra anyway!?"

Hikari raised an eyebrow at me.

"Are you jealous, Katsuki?"

"Like hell I am!"

Fuck! Maybe I am. I... I've had this crush on Hikari since we were kids. I didn't want to acknowledge it at first, but she keeps doing and saying things that made my heart feel like it was going to explode. I always get so pissed off whenever she protects and hangs out with that damn nerd! Then there's that bastard she met during the practical exam. How dare he even thinks about talking to her?! I know that Deku has feelings for Hikari too. That's he gave her that nickname and spent so much time with her in Junior High. Well I'm not going to give him a chance to confess first. Just the thought of her being with someone other than me pisses me off! I'm the only one for Hikari.
