Himawari

Before you walked out of your bedroom, you glanced at the first place medal that stood on your bookshelf. After the UA Sports Festival ended, and after the teachers removed the restraints off of Katsuki, he tried to destroy the medal with his Quirk. He didn't even leave a dent on the medal and only managed to damage the ribbon. You were able to prevent your boyfriend from throwing away the medal, but he still didn't want it, so he wanted you to have it instead. You agreed to keep it because it would be unfair to the other UA Sports Festival participants who worked so hard to get scouted and be one of the top three. In addition to Katsuki's frustration over his last match, the medal also made you remember the stuff involving Endeavor, Shoto Todoroki, and Izuku Midoriya. You quickly shook off the thought, grabbed your umbrella and left with your boyfriend to school.

As you and your boyfriend were walking to school together in the rain, you were confronted by fans who saw you at the Sports Festival. You met three high school students on your route who also watched you on TV. One was a girl with long blue hair, one was a boy, and the other was a girl with a tan and a blonde pixie cut. They looked like they go to a different school.

"Wow! You're Hikari Yagi and Katsuki Bakugou from the UA Sports Festival!" The blue haired girl marveled. "We saw you and your classmates on TV! You both were so cool during your matches!"

"Thanks!" You smiled.

"You were so cool during the sports festival! Plus, you have an amazing Quirk!!" The boy acknowledged Katsuki

Katsuki just clicked his tongue.

"So your Katsuki Bakugou?" The tan girl looked at your boyfriend up and down, not paying any attention to you. "You are way sexier in person~"

Your eyebrow twitched and you cleared your throat to get the girl's attention. "Um, excuse me, but--"

She ignored you. "You were pretty tough at the Sports Festival. If you're not too busy, do you want to wanna hook up sometime?"

Upon hearing the slut's offer and seeing that seductive look she was giving your boyfriend, you snapped.

"Hey, bitch! Did you forget that I was here, or did you trade the little amount of brain cells you had for a boob job and that fake tan?! Stay the hell away from my boyfriend or I'll beat you with your own umbrella!" You threatened in a loud tone.

As soon as the boy and the two girls ran away in fear, you finally calmed down. Your emerald eyes looked at the civilians around you. Some of them looked at you as if you were about to kill someone. You don't blame them. After all, you did just threatened to beat a girl with her own umbrella for flirting with your boyfriend. Feeling a bit ashamed of yourself for yelling at the girl in public, you and Katsuki continued your route to UA. You didn't notice this, but Katsuki was smirking at you.

"It's so weird that people recognize us from TV." Ashido spoke. "Everyone wanted to talk to me on my way here."

"Yeah, me, too!" Kirishima points out.

"What about you, Yagi?" Kaminari asks. "Did you get to meet some new fans?"

Your mind flashed to the boy and the two girls you met on the way here.

"Uh... well," You hesitated.

"Is that a no?" Sero questioned.

"Me and Katsuki... these two girls came up to us because they saw us on TV. Then, one of the girls started to flirt with Katsuki, and I... let's just say I didn't take kindly to that..."

Your classmates didn't press you for any answers. They mostly understood what happened based on your hesitation to answer and Katsuki's smirk.

"Morning." Your homeroom teacher greets as he enters the classroom.

"Good morning, Mr. Aizawa!"

You noticed that he was no longer covered in bandages. "It's good to see that you don't have bandages anymore."

"The old lady went a little overboard in her treatment." Mr. Aizawa replied. "Anyway, we have a big class today on Hero Informatics."

Please don't tell me it's a pop quiz! You thought to yourself as you started to sweat.

"You need codenames. Time to pick your hero identities."

"This is gonna be totally awesome!"

Aizawa growls in irritation and activated his Quirk to intimidate you all to calm down. You quickly quieted down and your teacher deactivates his Quirk.

"This is related to the pro hero draft picks that I mentioned the last time we were in class together. Normally, students don't have to worry about the draft yet. Not until their second or third year actually, but your class is different. In fact, by extending offers to the first-years like you, pros are essentially investing in your potential. Any offers can be rescinded if their interest in you dies down before graduation, though."

"So, what you're saying is, we'll still have to prove ourselves after we've gotten recruited?" You questioned.

Mr. Aizawa nodded. "Correct. Now, here are the totals for those of you who got offers."

Mr. Aizawa presses a button on a remote and the names of you and your classmates appeared on the board with numbers that indicate the amount of offers your classmates received. The number of offers you got is 4100 which was close to Todoroki's number.

"In past years, it's been more spread out. But there's a pretty big gap this time."

Most of your classmates were upset by the low amount of offers they got. Katsuki Bakugou got less offers than you and Todoroki.

"Woah! Bakugou got less than Yagi and Todoroki?" Jiro questioned in surprise.

"They probably don't want to work with the guy who had to be chained up at the end." Sero claimed.

"If I scare a Pro, they're just weak!" Shouted Katsuki.

"That's amazing." Yaoyorozu compliments Todoroki. "You must be proud."

"These offers are probably because of my father." Todoroki says in his usual Monotone.

Doubt filled your mind which was effected by Todoroki's words once again. Did you only receive that many offers because you were the daughter of the Symbol of Peace and the retired Elemental Hero?

"Despite these results, you'll all be interning with pros. Got it?" Mr. Aizawa spoke. "Even those of you who didn't get any offers."

"Oh, so, we're all interning?" Izuku asks.

"Yes. You already got to experience combat with real villians during the attack on the USJ facility. But it'll still be helpful to see pros at work. Up close and personal, in the field. Firsthand."

"And for that, we need hero names!" Sato adds.

"Things are suddenly getting a lot more fun!" Ochaco beamed.

"These hero names will likely be temporary," Aizawa continues. "But take them seriously or..."

The door to the classroom suddenly opens. "...You'll have hell to pay, later!" Midnight walks into the classroom. "What you pick today could be your codename for life. You better be careful, or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent."

"It's Midnight!" You exclaimed.

"Yeah. She's got a point." Aizawa agreed. "Midnight is going to have final approval over your names." He pulls out his yellow sleeping bag. "It's not my forte. The name you give yourself is important. It helps reinforce your image and shows what kind of hero you wanna be in the future. A codename tells people exactly what you represent. Take "All Might" for example."

Midnight handed you whiteboards and you handed them out to your classmates. You've thought long and hard about what hero name you want to go by. In the beginning, you wanted your hero name to be similar to the hero names of your father's, but not anymore.

The first one to present their hero name to the class was Yuga Aoyama. His hero name is "The Shining Hero - I can not stop twinkling!"... he wasn't joking. The most outrageous thing is that Miss Midnight approved of it. She just told him to take out "I" and shorten the "cannot" to "can't"! Mina Ashido was up next and she chose "Alien Queen" which was rejected. Since the first two were so weird, you started to have second thoughts and felt like you have to come up with something really clever now. That is until Tsuyu shared her hero name. It was a name she thought about in grade school, "Raining Season Hero: Froppy". You and your classmates cheered for "Froppy" in chants, feeling glad to hear a normal name. Eijiro Kirishima's hero name is "The Sturdy Hero: Red Riot" which was a homage to the Chivalrous hero, Crimson Riot. One by one, the rest of your classmates shared their hero names. "Hearing Hero: Earphone Jack" (Kyoka Jiro), "Tentacle Hero: Tentacole" (Mezo Shoji), "Taping Hero: Cellophane" (Hanta Sero), "Martial Arts Hero: Tailman" (Mashirao Ojiro), "Sweets Hero: Sugarman" (Rikido Sato), "Pinky" (Mina Ashido), "Stun Gun Hero: Chargebolt" (Denki Kaminari), "Stealth Hero: Invisible Girl" (Toru Hagakure), "Everything Hero: Creati" (Momo Yaoyorozu), "Jet-Black Hero: Tsukuyomi" (Fumikage Tokoyami), "Fresh-Picked Hero: Grape Juice" (Minoru Mineta), "Petting Hero: Anima" (Koji Koda), "Uravity" (Ochaco Uraraka), and "Deku" (Izuku Midoriya). Tenya Iida and Shoto Todoroki were the only two who chose to use their real names. Katsuki Bakugou' name was too violent. You were surprised that Izuku chose "Deku" as his hero name because you remembered that he hated it, but you were proud that he doesn't anymore.

"Alright. The last person who hasn't gone is Yagi." Midnight spoke. "Oh, and Bakugou still needs to rethink his.

You stood up from your seat and walked up to the podium.

Flashback

You it was your second year of Elementary School and a year after you met Katsuki Bakugou and Izuku Midoriya. You were staying at Midoriya's house until your mom came to pick you up when you suddenly requested your friend for something.

"You want me to give you a nickname?" A 7-year-old Midoriya asked a 7-year-old you.

The kid you nodded vigorously. "You and Kacchan have nicknames. I want you to come up with one for me, but don't come up with something lame! It has to be good!"

Midoriya was flustered by your request, he thought long and hard. As you watched your friend think of a nickname for you, you wondered if you've put too much pressure on him.

"I-It's okay if you can't think of anything. I'm not trying to force you or anything, so--"

"... a sunflower..." Midoriya muttered.

"Huh?" You gave Midoriya a confused look."

The young boy realized he was thinking out loud and he blushed as he stuttered.

"I-I said I'll call you "Himawari" from now on!"

Himawari. A name that means "Sunflower". Back then, you didn't know why Midoriya chose that name, but you liked it which made him smile.

The UA Sports Festival

It was after the end of the UA Sports Festival. You were on your way to change out of your UA training uniform when you heard a familiar voice as you were about to turn a corner.

"Hey, Deku, why do you call Hikari "Himawari"?" Ochaco asks as you hid to not disturb the conversation.

Tsu was also there. "I was wondering the same thing. Ribbit."

Izuku looked looked embarrassed by the question. He was reluctant at first, but he composed himself and answered the two girls. "When I first met Hikari, I was sad, but she was able to put a smile on my face." Izuku smiled. "Ever since I met her, she never made me feel like I was useless and no matter what others said, she always supported me. Whenever Kacchan tried to put me down, She wasn't afraid to stand up for me to him. Back when we were kids, she asked me to give her a nickname because of me and Kacchan, but I put a lot of thought into it. I call her "Himawari" because I see her as a person who stands tall and strong no matter what stood in her way, and I see her as someone who brings light to others in their darkest hour. I really look up to her."

You felt the tears fall from your green orbs after hearing Izuku's heartfelt response. You weren't sad. You were happy to hear the reason for your nickname. After the USJ incident, you felt like you were useless, and during the sports festival, you were put down by one of the heroes you admired and the classmate you might end up working with someday.

"Um-uh! Please don't get the wrong idea! My affection for her is completely platonic. There's nothing romantic nor sexual between us. She only sees Kacchan as a love partner. I only love her like a sister and nothing more. I understand why you would think I have feelings for her, I mean..."

As your childhood friend continued to spout, Tsuyu noticed you eavesdropping. She smiled at you before you left.

End of Flashback

"My hero name... is Himawar!"

Tsuyu and Ochaco smiled brightly, Izuku looked like he was about to cry out of joy, and Katsuki looked at you with a bit calmer expression.

"You know, "Himawari" means Sunflower." Midnight stated. "A flower that symbolizes longevity, loyalty, resiliency, strength, and hope."

You nodded with a smile. "Yeah. I'm aware of that."

"Make sure you live up to that name."

And you had every intention of doing so.
