Combat Training

You waited patiently for what Katsuki wanted to say. You both were under a cherry blossom tree because Katsuki wanted to tell you something.

"Hikari..." The ash-blonde looked nervous for the first time and the blush on his face matched the cherry blossom petals that fell from the tree. "I've... liked you for a long time, so... just go out with me already!!"

Your eyes widened as you processed what your childhood friend had said. You thought you'd never hear him say those words to you, now, you couldn't be any happier.

"Sure, Katsuki." You finally say with a loving gaze. "I've had a crush on you for a very long time. I was afraid that you didn't feel the same way..."

Katsuki smirked. "Heh. Stupid." He wipes away the tears of happiness from your face. "I said I liked you for a long time, didn't I? So stop crying."

"I'm not crying."

"Yeah, whatever." Your crush, who is now your lover, wrapped his arms around your body and leaned in to kiss you.

⏰️⏰️⏰️

You're eyes shot open when you heard the scream of your alarm clock. You groaned in frustration and smacked the blaring clock off of your nightstand. Katsuki Bakugou, your childhood friend and crush, telling you that he liked you more than just a friend and that he wants you to be his girlfriend. Yeah. Something like that can only happen in your dreams.

After you got dressed, ate breakfast and said good bye to your mom, you headed your way to UA High school. Before you left, your mom mentioned that your dad will start teaching you today. She wasn't lying.

"I am here. Coming through the door like a hero!" Your father announced as he entered the classroom wearing his Silver Age Hero costume.

All of your classmates shared a chorus of gasps and became overjoyed to have the Symbol of Peace teach them today.

"Welcome to the most important class at UA High. Think of it as "Hero-ing 101." Here, you will learn the basics of being a pro and what it means to fight in the name of good! Let's get into it. Today's lesson will pull no punches!" All Might pulls out a card with the word Battle printed in bold lettering and shows it to you.

You instantly knew that the lesson for today was combat training, and Katsuki is more excited about it than anyone else.

"But one of the keys of being a hero is... looking good!" All Might points to the classroom wall and it automatically opens up in sections with numbered cases. "These were designed for you based on your Quirk registration forms and the requests you sent in before school started."

Everyone gasped and cheered in excitement at the thought of getting to wear their own hero costumes.

Before you all enrolled at UA High, you submitted your Quirk registration forms; which included physical measurements and any desired costume designs to an exclusive clothing company designated by the school. With all that info, they created state-of-the-art costumes for you. You requested your costume to be entirely fire proof since your Quirk burns away your shoes and any other clothing that reaches to your ankles. Your costume was also a little revealing. It's not as revealing as Yaoyorozu's, but it did show off your legs and cleavage. Your costume consist of a fire resistant leotard with a red utility belt and black boots with bottoms similar to ballerina shoes that allowed your flames to come out. It also came with a red jacket and a black choker. (The design at the very top)

After putting on your new Hero costume, everyone met in ground beta. You scanned for your two childhood friends. When you saw Katsuki in his Hero costume, your face blushed furiously and your heart skipped a beat. His Hero costume composed of a tight, black, sleeveless tank top, with an orange "X" across the middle, forming a v-neck. There are two dots along the left line of his collar, indicating the support company that designed his costume. He had a metallic neck brace worn with rectangular ends that have three holes on each side. His sleeves reached from within his grenade-like gauntlets to his biceps. His belt, which was carrying grenades, holds up his baggy pants with knee guards. He's also sporting black, knee-high combat boots with orange soles and eyelets. His mask is jagged and black, and as it goes around his eyes, a large, orange-rimmed flare shape protrudes from each side. You'd be lying if you said he didn't look hot in his Hero costume.

"What are looking at, Hikari?" Katsuki asked as he caught your stare, making you flinch. You can see the smirk on his face.

"Uh! Um... your hero costume looks really cool!" You replied, hiding your true thoughts. You then point to his gauntlets. "Do those gauntlets support your Quirk, or are they just for show?"

"You're gonna find out real soon." The ash-blonde had a mischievous smile on his face when he said that, so you decided not to ask anymore questions.

"Now that you all are ready, it's time for combat training." All Might began, but then one of the students spoke up.

"Sir." Said Iida as he raised his hand. You almost didn't recognize him in his full armor hero costume. "This is the fake city from our entrance exam. Does that mean that we'll be conducting urban battles again?"

"Not quite." Your dad holds up two fingers. "I'm going to move you two steps ahead. Most of the villian fights you see on the news take place outside. However, statically speaking, run-ins with the most dastardly evildoers take place indoors."

"Da-" You instinctively stopped before you let it slip then you cleared your throat. "All Might. Sir, what do you mean?"

"Think about it. Backroom deals, home invasions, secret underground lairs. Truly intelligent criminals stay hidden in the shadows. For this training exercise, you'll be split into teams of good guys and bad guys and fight two-on-two indoor battles."

"Isn't this a little advanced?" Asui asked. "Also, there are an odd number of us. Will there be a team of three?"

"The best training is what you get on the battlefield! But remember, you can't just punch a robot this time. You're dealing with actual people now." All Might turned towards you. "And to answer your question about the extra person, she will be in another team with a student!"

The rest of the students started to ask questions and the teacher interrupted them and said that he wasn't done talking.

"Listen up." He pulls out a script. "The situation is this. The villians have hidden a nuclear missile somewhere in their hideout. The heroes must try to foil their plans. To do that, the good guys either have to catch the evildoers or recover the weapon. Likewise, the bad guys succeed if they protect their payload or capture the heroes."

"Sounds like a classic action movie setup." Izuku commented.

"Yeah, I know." You agreed and then you held in a giggle when you saw Izuku's hero costume. The mask with long ears reminds you of your father's haircut and the respirator with a makeshift smile on it reflects said hero. Damn! He's so obvious!

"Time's limited, and we'll choose teams by drawing lots!" All Might shows you a yellow box with the word lots on it.

"Isn't there a better way?" Iida asked.

"Think about it!" Izuku answers. "Pros often have to team up with heroes from other agencies on the spot, so maybe that's the reason we're seeing that here."

"Yes, I see. Life is a random series of events." Iida bows to the Pro Hero. "Excuse my rudeness."

"No sweat. Let's draw!"

Each of the students drew from the lots.

Team A: Ochaco Uraraka & Izuku Midoriya

Team B: Mezo Shoji & Shoto Todoroki

Team C: Minoru Mineta & Momo Yaoyorozu

Team D: Katsuki Bakugou & Tenya Iida

Team E: Mina Ashido & Yuga Aoyama

Team F: Koji Koda & Rikido Sato

Team G: Denki Kaminari & Kyoka Jiro

Team H: Fumikage Tokoyami & Tsuyu Asui

Team I: Mashirao Ojiro & Toru Hagakure

Team J: Hanta Sero & Eijiro Kirishima

Team K: Hikari Yagi & Mina Ashido

The first team that was up was Team D, the villians, against Team A, the heroes. Katsuki Bakugou vs. Izuku Midoriya. It's obvious that a match against them will end disastrous. Your assumption proved to be correct because during the fight, Katsuki was not working with his partner and destroyed part of the building with his gauntlets. Now you know that they aren't just for show. Team A also messed up. Izuku used his Quirk and ended up hurting his arm and causing more major damage to the building, and Uraraka exposed her hiding spot and did a reckless move.

While Izuku was getting treated for his injuries, you all discussed what went wrong. Iida was the only one who was granted MVP. You wanted to say something to Katsuki that could heal his wounded pride, but you didn't know what.

The lesson continued as each team took turns against eachother. You were so amazed by your classmates' Quirks and how they utilize them. It later became your turn with Mina Ashido as the villians against Sero and Kirishima who were playing the Heroes.

"Hey, Yagi, what's the deal with Bakugou?" Ashido asked. "He went completely nuts on Midoriya during their match."

Yeah. The explosive blonde has held a grudge against the kindhearted nerd for trying to help him out of a pond, but...

"Katsuki, Izuku and I have been friends since Elementary school." You said. "He's prideful and short-tempered most of the time, but deep down, I know that he's a good guy."

The pink girl stared at you in bewilderment. She doesn't understand why you and Midoriya are friends with someone like Bakugou, but at least she knows that you're a good person.

After the two of you were done chitchatting, you came up with a plan to win your battle. Since you were the fastest in the team, you were going to go after the "Heroes" while Ashido guarded the weapon. Like the first match, you also fought the opposing team, but the difference was that you were able to capture Sero with the capture tape, and Kirishima too. You were given a lot of praise from everyone for how quick you won the match. You didn't get any praise from Katsuki, but you didn't mind. It was clear that he was still upset about his loss.

After the lesson was over, you continued the school day and became good friends with Ashido, Sero, Kaminari, and Kirishima. You soon realized that Katsuki hasn't showed up to a few of his classes, which was unlike him, so you searched the school for him.

As you were looking for your crush and childhood friend, you ran into Asui, Uraraka and Ashido.

"Hey, girls. Have any of you seen Katsuki Bakugou anywhere?" You asked.

"He left." Uraraka replied sadly. "We tried to stop him, but he wouldn't listen."

"There he is right now." Asui points at something as she looks out the window.

The four of you look outside and see Katsuki and Izuku outside. You can't hear what they're saying, but it looked like Izuku said something intense to Katsuki, who stormed off after yelling at him. Then, your dad ran up to the ash-blonde and says something to him, but Katsuki brushes him off. You didn't want to leave Katsuki alone in the state he's in, so you did something bold.

"Whoa, Yagi! What are you--?!" Ashido exclaimed when she sees you opening the window and jumping outside.

You used your Quirk to fly to Katsuki, and for a brief moment, you made eye contact with All Might, your father, who believes you're the person that young Bakugou needs right now.

When you landed next to Katsuki, he was surprised to see you, but he quickly wiped his eyes and pretended like he didn't care.

"What the hell are you doing out here, Hikari?" Katsuki quietly asks, not meeting your eyes. "Go back to class..."

You shook your head. "That wouldn't make me a good friend. We don't have to talk. Just let me stay by your side."

Katsuki didn't say anything, but surprisingly, he took your hand in his. You blushed furiously as you walked home together.

You told Katsuki that the two of you didn't have to talk, but you still wanted to know what did Izuku say to him? Is it about his Quirk? You also wanted to know Katsuki decided to hold your hand. Does this mean he has a crush on you, too?

"Hikari..." Katsuki trailed off.

"Y-yes...?" You braced yourself for what he had to say.

"You... you did great during combat training." You're eyes widened at his praise as he continued. "And not just combat training... you also did better than me in that damn Quirk assessment test. I messed up a lot and lost that damn nerd."

It turns out that Katsuki Bakugou realized that he has a long way to go in order to become a Pro hero and surpass All Might. Katsuki is extremely prideful, and UA can easily destroy that amount of pride. He shouldn't be so down after witnessing his classmates battles. He has a lot of talent and there will be similar lessons as you all continue your days at UA.

"I like you."

Your eyes widened and you wondered if you heard him right.

"Huh?"

"I said I like you, dammit!" He replied a little louder. "For a very long time. Since I've met you, you never left my mind. Even if I tried to get you out of my head, you'd just come back." He looked at you with a serious expression. "I want you to be my girlfriend."

You couldn't believe your ears. Your childhood friend, Katsuki Bakugou, told you that he liked you and wants you to be his girlfriend. You weren't dreaming. You were wide awake. You didn't expect him to say that. You inhaled and held back your tears of happiness as you gave Katsuki your answer.

"Sure, I'll be your girlfriend."
