The cover picture is not mine if wanted to be taken down, let me know.

Good Sword

"I need some privacy," the man spoke, turning his limpid gaze to Sierra.

Sierra noticed the man's gaze and meaning, she was getting up out of the chair. She went to stand outside the door, not being too far away from Emrys making sure he would be safe, but not being too close to give the man privacy.

Upon Sierra's arrival outside the door, the man waved his hand up as an almost invisible dome surrounded him and Emrys. The man knew even if Sierra was outside the door, she would still be able to hear the conversation. The man wanted to talk privately to Emrys with no other ears listening in.

When the dome appeared, Sierra felt the presence of the dome, making her turn her whole body to the door of the house. She was contemplating what to do. She didn't know if the man was going to harm Emrys, take him away, or if she had the strength to go against the man.

Before doing anything stupid she remembered elder Arnold saying that the man is trustworthy. Remembering those words Sierra relaxed and decided to wait patiently and trust in elder Arnold.

At the same time, Sierra felt the dome's presence Emrys did too. Emrys had felt a flicker with his senses and familiar energy. He had felt the energy in the dome. Emrys, being quick-witted, decided not to say anything or react about it, as it was probably used to keep an area quiet from others.

Now that it was only the man and Emrys still in the house the atmosphere slightly changed from being dull to cold. The man's face is calmer than ever, whilst being sharp. The man had a deadly serious look on his face.

The man shifted his eyes to Emrys's position. The man was nonstop staring directly into Emrys's eyes. It felt like the man could see anything as if nothing could hide from his vision.

His intense gaze even made Emrys's soul shake a little by the overwhelming pressure from just one look.

"Are you from Gehenna?" the man asked in a serene tone.

Emrys knew that the man wanted to talk about something or ask something. But once Emrys heard the man's question his facial expression changed, which didn't go unnoticed by the man. Emrys's face changed because he had no idea what the man was talking about.

"I'm not from this so-called Gehenna, I don't even know what or where that is," Emrys firmly stated.

The response of Emrys surprised the man as it didn't make sense.

'He doesn't know what Gehenna is but exudes the aura. Maybe he was abandoned to this world or left here because of danger. Maybe they also sealed his... That would make sense as to why his aura isn't as noticeable, but I feel a couple more auras hidden deep in his body.'

The man raised his hand like before, but instead of creating a dome, he brought it down signifying the end of their secretive talk.

"You can come back now," the man spoke.

Sierra had walked back into the house and retook her seat that was next to Emrys.

"Since Arnold recommended you, I will give you a greater opportunity than swordsmanship if you can meet or go beyond my requirements. I will give you a sword technique and a small wooden sword. I want you to come back here tomorrow so I can see how much you can comprehend in a day. After I give you the two things, go home and try the technique out," the man declared, lifting his hand. Raising his hand, a small dark wooden sword appeared in his hand. The sword is about a little bit longer than a foot long, perfect for Emrys's size.

The man then handed the sword to Emrys. Emrys politely grabbed the sword from the man's hand, accepting the item.

"As for the technique, I can't give you a physical cop- actually I can. Also, try to memorize the whole manual by tomorrow," the man spoke under his breath as in the same hand he handed Emrys the sword an ancient-looking manual appeared. The man handed the book to Emrys and just like before Emrys accepted it.

'I need to see all types of his potential, like his memorization strength. If he can't remember it all by tomorrow then I'll just transfer the information,' the man thought to himself.

Testing one's memorization skills is important. Usually if one has good memorization skills, they might have high comprehension. Also, one can't always transfer information to others' minds as they might grow dependent on such a thing.

"You both can go now, but remember to come back here tomorrow at noon, but instead of your maid staying with you she will drop you off and come back in about two hours later," the man demanded.

A couple of dozen minutes later, Emrys and Sierra had both arrived at their home.

Emrys was sitting in a cross-leg pose on his bed with the sword to the left of him and the manual he received to the left of him.

'How could I forget the existence of magic swordsmen? I read a small glimpse about it in the books. This is a perfect match for me. Anyway, I have a sword now and a sword technique. Though the sword isn't what I desire, it's a start. With the technique, I can see what type of swordsmanship this world has and maybe incorporate it into my technique. I still need a katana though.'

Ending his thoughts Emrys picked up the manual he received and determined he should start reading and comprehending it. Although Emrys had other thoughts in his mind about the man who would be his teacher. Emrys ignored all those thoughts for right now as he had something more important than his thoughts and questions that would be unanswered for him at the moment.

Emrys looked at the font of the book wanting to know the name of the sword technique. Emrys was shocked after reading the name of the manual. He had thought the name would be something mysterious or powerful. But to Emrys's surprise, the name was something ordinary.

The name of the technique was "Good Sword".
