4 Chapter 4

The next time I woke up I found myself on a soft blanket. I still could see shit, something was breathing silently next to me, maybe my sister Tsunade. I got reborn as the older brother of Tsunade. This is..., I don't know. There is scarcely little known about the time before the Naruto canon. I know next to nothing about the time right after the First Shinobi War.

Only that Tsunade got Genin under Sarutobi and that Hashirama, as well as Tobirama, died during the first war. There Sarutobi became the Third Hokage. But that couldn't be right. Elite Jonin would not be tasked with training Genin during a war, that is a waste of their war strength. And Hokage doesn't train Genin, that does not happen, too little time. Which makes it impossible for her to be Genin after the first war.

Tsunade must have become Genin under Sarutobi during peace, which either means that she was born before the first war and became Chunin during it or shortly before. However, she looked to be at most in her early twenties when she fought against Hanzo, which makes being born before the first war happened impossible as well. She was also around 50 when she appeared in Naruto.

So, she can't have been a Genin after the first war, as that would mean for Sarutobi to have a Genin team as a Kage. Kage doesn't have time for Genin teams. But she can't have been Genin before the first war or during it as well. That would mean for her to be too old when she appears in the Naruto canon. Both Tobirama and Hashirama have also seen her in their younger years.

I think there is a plot hole in the timeline.

It's way more likely for Hashirama to die at the start of the second war, he was also present at the peace talks at the end of the first war. Tobirama must have died shortly after.

Anyway, if I'm this early, might as well further fuck up the timeline. And who says this isn't a completely different universe. With me being here it is already AU.

Thinking about this will change nothing. First, I called for someone, but I am not yet able to speak, only baby gibberish came out when I tried to ask for someone close by. If communications aren't working then let's do the next best thing. Finding out how to access the game statistics.

I knew that speaking isn't possible, so I thought hard about the word 'options'. And lo and behold a window named Option plopped up in front of my eye.

It did not have many options, only that I could activate and deactivate specific announcements. I could add my health-, Chakra-, and stamina bar. Which I did. Three lines were now up on the left side of my view. From up to the bottom they were red, green, and blue. They must be life, stamina, and Chakra.

Then there was also a tutorial option, it was deactivated, so I activated it. The options menu closed and a new window opened.

Welcome to the tutorial. Together we will go through the basics of this game.

First, to open your status menu, think 'Status Menu'.

I did just that and my menu opened.

Name; Kenshiro Senju

Player Title; Beta Tester

Bloodline; Body of a Senju

Age; 5 hours

Live Points; 100%

Chakra Points; 100%

Stamina Points; 100%

LV; 0 Game Points; 0

Chakra Control; /%

Nature Chakra Control;

Fire; 000%

Lightning; 000%

Strength; 5

Endurance; 10

Reflex; 5

Intelligence; 10

Charisma; 5

Luck; 50

Hmm, okay, I already knew most of that. But Charisma is interesting.

The status of the User shows every important information about the User. From Name to Bloodline, Age, Attributes, Title, and current level.

Titles may give bonus attributes or have other effects on the User and his surroundings.

Level;

Raising the player's level is the utmost goal of every gamer. This game works with an experience point system. The User will gain experience points for finishing quests or killing living things. Once the experience reaches a set threshold the User will level up and gain 10 Game Points. The User will then have to gain more experience points to reach the next level. Each new level needs more experience points than the level before. Each lived year will also grant a level.

Game Points;

Game Points can be used to increase the User's attributes, Jutsu Mastery, Skill Mastery, or Elemental Control. They can also be earned through quests and leveling up. Each level provides 10 Game Points.

That's one pretty useful thing. I've never seen a game with such a feature. Normally these Learn Points are only for one thing, but never for everything. Gaining level has suddenly a much higher priority.

The Three Energies;

The Live Points, Stamina Points, and Chakra Points. They are calculated out of your main status.

Live Points; [0,25 Endurance x 0,5 Strength ]

Stamina Points; 0,25 Endurance x 0,5 Reflex

Chakra Points; 0,25 Endurance x 0,5 Intelligence

Life Point, Stamina Point, and Chakra Point Regeneration;

Chakra: (0,5 Intelligence x 0,5 Strength x 0,25 Endurance) : 1000 = Chakra Regen./Min

Life Points: (0,5 Strength x Endurance) : 1000 = Life Point Regen./Min

Stamina Points: (0,5 Endurance x 0,5 Strength) : 100 = Stamina Point Regen./Min

If Life Points drop to 0 the user has died.

If Stamina Points drop to 0 the user will be unable to use skills or move fast. Use of Stamina Skills below 0 will use Life Points instead.

If Chakra Points drop to 0 the user will be unable to use any kind of Jutsu. The use of Jutsu below 0 will use Life Points.

Strength;

Strength is a numerical value of the User's strength. It is important for every physical activity. Be it fighting or breathing. Strength increases physical damage. It increases the number of Life Points.

Endurance;

Endurance is a numerical value for the User's pain threshold and physical damage resistance. Every activity can harm the body. Endurance acts against poisons, illness, and physical harm.

It also increases the regeneration, as well as the amount of Chakra, Stamina, and Life Points.

Intelligence;

Intelligence is a numerical value for the User's academic skill. The ability to remember, learn and adapt. It is important for every time the user thinks and tries to comprehend something. It also increases the regeneration of Chakra and acts against mental tiredness. In conjunction with endurance, it lowers the costs of Chakra skills and increases the amount of Chakra Points.

Reflex;

Reflex is a numerical value of the User's speed and flexibility. It is important for all bodily movements and determines, in conjunction with endurance, how cost-intensive Stamina skills are. It increases the amount of Stamina Points.

Charisma;

Charisma is a numerical value for the User's physical attractiveness and trustworthiness. Every interaction with a living being uses charisma. A low value makes the User scary or untrustworthy. A high skill allows the User to influence others to the User's liking.

Luck;

Luck is a numerical value for the User's worldly luck. Everything is slightly influenced by luck. A lucky User may survive a killing blow, find useful things or win in gambling. Unlucky users will get more often sick, find themselves in dangerous situations more often, and will have generally an unlucky life.

Luck was the best option to choose, as was endurance. Both are extremely important. The first because it influences everything, the second because it has a role in all my energy bars.

There are items and status effects that can either increase or decrease the User's attributes. For more information think about the affected attribute.

My charisma has a bonus of +20. Let's find out why.

Charisma: 5 (+20)

Current effect; Infant

Babies are cute, it's their only defense. Being a baby gives you a bonus of +20 in charisma. This bonus will lower while growing up.

Okay, that's useful. Don't want to think about what would happen to me if my parents wouldn't like me. Probably favor Tsunade over me. Anyway, let's continue the tutorial.

Jutsu and Skills;

Besides the status menu, the User also has a skill menu. Every learned skill is listed inside the skill menu. Currently, the User has no learned skills. The menu will be available after learning a single skill.

Skills grow in strength with use, the rise in Skill Mastery. High mastery reduces Stamina consumption and increases the effect or damage of a skill.

Skills can be risen by training or Game Points.

Next to the skill menu is the Jutsu menu. It acts on the same principles as the skill menu, only that Jutsu uses Chakra.

There are Jutsu and skills that use both, those are listed under Jutsu and have a shared mastery. One such Jutsu is the Eight Gates of Death.

Perks;

The User can acquire Perks during his play. Those can be gained through special actions, the increase of attributes above a special threshold, or by wearing Legendary gear. Some Perks are beneficial to you others a hindrance, a few can be both. For viewing your Perks think 'Perk List'.

I did just that and a list of my Perks came in front of my inner eye.

Perks of Kenshiro;

Infant; Babies are cute, it's their only defense. Req. younger than 5, Charisma >2

- Being a baby gives you a bonus of +20 in charisma.

- This bonus will be lower while growing up.

Gamers Body; The body of the User is that of a Gamer.

- Game rules apply to the User's body.

Lucky Shot; Req. 50 Luck,

It might be a skill, it might be luck, who knows.

20% more critical damage.

Gamers Mind; The Mind of the User is that of a Gamer.

- Immunity to psychological attacks and Genjutsu

- The User will always remain calm and calculating.

Body of a Senju; You have the body of a Senju.

- Every attribute will grow 10% faster than normal.

- You have 5% more Life Points than normal people.

- You'll heal 10% faster than normal people.

- You regenerate Chakra 10% quicker than normal people.

- You have 5% more Chakra than normal people.

- You have 5% more Stamina than normal people.

- You regenerate Stamina 10% quicker than normal people.

Well, those are useful. None of them sounds over OP, except for Gamers Mind and Body. But Body of a Senju and Lucky Shot are working with %. That means the stronger I get the greater the difference. And 20% more critical damage is fucking good.

Okay, what's next. I think Titles and my Inventory are left. What an info dump.

Titles;

They are given to those who have done special actions or are in special positions. Each title has different effects and can be positive, negative, or both. Think 'Title List' to access your titles.

Title List

Beta Tester;

As a beta player for our game, you will be honored in the credits. You'll also gain 0,000001% of the profits we will gain upon release.

Heir of the Senju Clan;

As the heir of the Senju clan, you will be viewed with respect by everyone positively inclined to Konoha. However, those who have a negative opinion of Konoha may be quicker to act hostile.

Yeah, not great. I mean Heir of the Senju Clan may be useful but can be as much a hindrance. I don't know if only the activated title shows its effects or if all of them are constantly active. Welp, can't do much about it anyway, let's continue with the inventory.

Inventory;

The inventory is an extra dimension for the User to store his stuff. It stores anything up to the size of the User and time stops working on the stored item. Your money will also be stored inside the inventory, as well as any quest rewards.

For accessing your inventory think 'Open Inventory'.

With that, the tutorial ended. We wish you lots of fun playing our game.

I dismissed the last message and opened my inventory. An old-school inventory opened in my mind's eye. It has the form of a normal tiled square. The currency, Ryo, was shown at the top left. Each square is probably an inventory slot. I can see fifty tiles right now, but I have the extra Unlimited Inventory.

That either means that there is no limit to one stack, I will get a down scroll option, or both. Things to experiment with once I am no longer a baby.

I had just closed the inventory when something suddenly cast a shadow over me. "Look Daikuma, our little Kenshiro is awake." That was the voice of my mother, she was also no longer sounding tired.

I got picked up and placed in the warmth of my mother's arms. "Our two little angels," whispered mother lovingly. She kissed the top of my head and moved away from my bed. "You must be hungry."

She did something with her free arm and then put something in my mouth. Is that her breast? Am I expected to suck now? Why is this so freaking uncomfortable?

My mind forcibly calmed down before I could freak out and I noticed that I indeed was kind of hungry, so I began to eat. I noted calmly that breast milk was sweeter than cow milk.

I ate until I was full and tried to move my head away from my milk dispenser. Iria, my mother, noticed and patted my back for me to burp. Just that I didn't need to, I am perfectly able to keep my food in, thank you, "Burp"... never mind.

"Come, I can hold him while you give Tsunade her meal. She looks kind of grumpy for not being first to eat," chuckled my father.

I got picked up again and sat down on the knee of my father, he bounced me up and down and was trying to make me laugh by doing something. I couldn't see much more than a black blotch moving around in front of me.

So, I ignored him and tried to get a feel for my body. I now have Chakra, which is supposed to be inside me and moves around in an extra set of pathways like my blood does move through arteries and veins.

At first, I felt nothing and I concentrated harder to reach out to that special something that wouldn't have been there in my old life. Then suddenly it was as if a switch got turned on and I could make out something that was inside me.

It felt warm and moved through every part of my body, starting with the heart, going through the whole body, and then ending back there. The same as blood does, just that this stuff was also bleeding out of me and into the air.

This leakage must be what sensors can feel, the more Chakra and less control someone has the more leakage he will produce. Which makes it easier to sense them.

From my proximity to my father I could feel his Chakra as well, it was completely enclosing me, protecting me like a warm blanket. It felt soothing and protective. Karin Uzumaki, a sensor in the Naruto Anime, was saying that people's Chakra was having emotional characteristics.

I focused back inwards and on my Chakra. It was still moving around at a slow pace, not in any rush to get anywhere, but at the same time still reaching every part of my body.

Being able to move it around will be the first step in getting control over it.

I concentrated on a part of my Chakra that was in my left hand, there I can do less damage than in my head or heart. I tried to will more of my Chakra into my left pinky, filling it with this energy. At first, it was hard to do, the Chakra didn't want to stay back and concentrate in one place, but then it was just as before as if a switch got turned on.

The Chakra was still not moving faster, nor did all of it stay back, but a small part was staying in my pinky. The finger got warmer than before and I opened my eyes to inspect it for any changes. That was when I remembered that I could see shit.

But, there! Something was glowing on my left hand, it was just a tiny light, almost impossible for me to notice, haven't I focused so much on my hand. I raised my glowing pinky and moved it close to my face.

Then suddenly I started to fall, just to be snatched out of the air. "Oh shit!", cursed my father.

"What the hell are you thinking?! Why did you drop Kenshiro?" shouted mother angrily. It made Tsunade start to cry, which I should copy, but had no desire to do.

"I didn't mean to. He just suddenly used Chakra. His left pinky had a high concentration of Chakra as if he's manipulating it towards his finger," defended father himself.

It must not have been convincing. Mother grabbed me out of his arms and moved me around, trying to find any possible injury. "That's not possible, they aren't even a day old. How do you think he should be able to access his Chakra?" She was pretty angry and it seems like a father will have to sleep on the couch for today.

"Come Kenshiro, let's go to sleep. Tsunade and you will stay with mommy tonight, while your careless and idiotic father can sleep on the floor." Yup, poor daddy. Mom left the room with my weakly protesting father behind.

We got our diapers changed, something that was embarrassing beyond anything, and then put on the chest of mom. Her heartbeat was soothing and she was warm, falling asleep like this won't be hard.

But there's something that I have to take a look at before falling asleep. I opened my Jutsu and Skill menu and took a look for any new content. Skills had no entry, but Jutsu had two.

Chakra Control; LV 1 ( 4%) Passive: No RankChakra Control allows you to move, control, and influence your Chakra. More control allows you to waste less Chakra in any used Jutsu.

Chakra Sensing; LV 1 ( 5%) Aktive: No Rank

The ability to sense Chakra can help you in understanding the strength of others. It can be used to find people and identify Jutsu, as well as their properties.

No numbers? A lot of games have hard data for their skills. Sure, this makes it more realistic, processing everything into numbers would need freaking much processing power. But turning someone's body into that of a Game Character should have been hard enough, a step more or two shouldn't have been such a problem.

I was just about to dismiss the Jutsu menu when a blue screen popped up.

We from Play a Life want to apologize for the lack of numerical values in your skills. We think that hard numbers can make a player conceited and arrogant. They might believe that they will be able to do anything if their skill number is above that of their enemy.

There are numbers to calculate every action done by the Player, they just aren't accessible to the Player. Only special skills make this possible. We also think they would be annoying with time. Too much math for the common player.

Great, so the creator is watching me. My life has its very own big brother, what joy. Hmpf, well, it's not as if I could do anything against it. Time to sleep.
