Chapter 16: Queen latita

The old Edan, who had come out of Simon's place, was headed directly to the queen. On the way, he thought about all the discussions they had had together and Simon's reactions. One thing he understood was that Simon seemed to view everything he said as if he were listening to something he was curious about; he didn't seem to have any emotional response when mentioning the various actions of elves or even humans. It was as if it didn't concern him, as if he were just a spectator of a drama.

Upon arriving at the queen's house, indeed, the Elf queen didn't have a castle but rather a house located in the sacred tree that produced mana for the various protection barriers of the elves. According to legend, its root was connected to the very concept of the world, although no one had been able to prove this truth.

The old Edan released a bit of his mana as a sign that he wanted to see the queen. As the eldest, the queen easily recognized his mana and responded directly through a communication spell: "What brings our dear Elder to visit me?" she asked with a tone of sarcasm. Edan understood well that she wasn't really happy about the fact that, as queen, she had to receive certain approvals from them for decisions concerning the entire race.

He replied with an official tone devoid of emotion: "If Your Majesty is not busy, I have come to inform you that Simon wanted to see you before heading to the Tower of Stars."

The queen knew Simon, of course, and was surprised that he sought to see her, but she only sensed Edan's mana. She said, "You may come up."

As the old Edan ascended, he looked at the queen with her green hair like the color of a tree, her eyes filled with wisdom. Though her appearance and soft skin showed a young woman whom one could deceive, he knew she was now over 500 years old and that if you weren't careful, she would sell you at the market and count the money without you understanding.

She asked, "Why does he want to see me?" She was genuinely curious about this. Simon was now one of the elves, or more precisely, the most talented elf of their generation. Just with his inventions, it was known he would accomplish incredible feats that an entire generation would mention.

Edan replied, "Simon has created two new inventions. He must go to the Tower of Stars to register his talent and wants to register them at the same time. However, he seeks to explain them to you and know if you have a plan regarding his inventions." Hearing that Simon had already created two new inventions, the queen couldn't help but smile. Though there were conflicts and factions among the elves, they weren't saints after all, but when it came to something concerning the entire race, all problems would be set aside. As for Simon, she must say she was satisfied with him. Unlike children who only played with their talents once awakened, she thought he was different and was already beginning to use his talent and understood the gravity of the situation they were in.

However, the old Edan continued when the queen wanted to reply, "Unfortunately, that's not all. Simon said he had a new vision. When I asked him what it was about, he said it's better that he discuss it with you in person."

The queen immediately put on a serious expression. "Why didn't you come with him? You know I can see him as long as it's something urgent."

Feeling that the queen was angry, Edan was not intimidated by her change in behavior. He replied, "You know that a council of sages is required for all decisions concerning the future of the elves, and some members of the council are not yet here and must return."

That's why the queen is angry with all the members of the council. She thinks they are just old fuddy-duddies with authority that can constrain her, especially since most of them are stubborn and inflexible, although in the end, they think only of the good of the elves, which makes this anger even more complicated.
