Chapter 15: Feeling

The old Edan replied seriously to Simon: "No problem, you should have met the queen a long time ago, but it was judged better to do so after your return from the tower. But now that you ask, there's no problem with that." Then he asked: "May I know what is so important that you ask to see the queen?" Any person would be curious in his place. Simon then replied: "It's something concerning the safety of the elves, but I'd prefer, if possible, to discuss it with the queen." The old Edan, having heard that it was concerning the safety of the elves, immediately thought of all possible possibilities.

Once he heard the second part, where Simon mentioned discussing together, he found it strange. Although the elves were known for their wisdom, a child is still a child. Imagine a 7-year-old wanting to discuss the security of his kingdom with the queen. But he also knew that Simon could no longer be considered a normal child. In addition to the wisdom of the elves, he also had a talent that characterized him, wisdom.

They then talked about many things, especially the old Edan, who told many stories to Simon about the world. Simon wouldn't normally have access to these types of stories because they are dark and inappropriate for children. He even told him about some atrocities committed by the elves.

If Simon had been a normal child, or even a transmigrator with a normal brain, he would have wondered why Edan was telling him all this. Unfortunately, Simon was not like that, and he had already understood the old man's intention. His talent, the Eye of Wisdom, allowed him to see the pastp

Simon thought that the old man was afraid that he would discover these shocking truths and change his point of view, so it was better for him to say it himself. When they finished talking and the old Edan had left, Simon wondered what he really wanted to accomplish.

Making the kingdom of Agadez prosper was just a simple goal for him. He didn't want to do it because he loved or was attached to the race of elves. He would only do it to make his mother's life easier. But other than that, Simon noticed that all his goals were strictly related to his mother. He seemed to have no goals to accomplish for himself.

Simon had read a book on psychology, and he had read a passage about indifferent people that said: "Once an indifferent person attaches to another person, even if it's very difficult, they will do everything to make that person comfortable, even to the point of sacrificing their life and interests for them." Why would a person even sacrifice their life for another? Thinking of an anime, or more precisely of a certain pirate capable of controlling fire, even though death would render all his efforts in vain, he still sacrificed himself to protect his brother.

What Simon hadn't noticed, or didn't want to admit, was that he desired this kind of relationship, but he had always thought that no one deserved his sacrifice. Simon sighed to rid himself of all these thoughts that would only make him ask more questions. He admitted that the reason he had rushed to make his inventions wasn't really because he was in a hurry, but because he just wanted to escape reality. He understood that the way he saw the world, which he had spent a lifetime forging, was changing, and that made him a little scared, but also more confused. Was his way of seeing the world really bad? Had he spent a whole life in vain? Lana, who had come into the room once Edan had left and saw Simon sighing, shivered and hugged him.

Simon, feeling the warmth from his mother's body, immediately felt calm. He hugged her back with his little arms. He swore that no matter what troubled him or what the future held for him, he understood that the only thing, or more precisely, the only person he truly cared about was beside him. He promised to do everything to protect her and not allow any harm to come to her, even if he had to do something he considered stupid, like sacrificing himself for someone else.
