Chapter 1: The End for Another Time Part 1

Dayton Academy is the school for the most promising upcoming Adventures. More than half of the class awakens, giving them the chance to fight in the towers. The other handful that doesn't awaken are allowed to work as medics or other supporting jobs to help Adventures.

Jayden stares at a billboard displaying the new class at Dayton. "What I'd give to be in a school like that," Jonas said.

"Ehh, It's a school full of hypocrites," Jayden replied, already walking away.

"N-no! That's not true. They use their power to protect this world and bring hope-"

"Dude, we're not five. Come on, We still need to get to school," Jayden said.

Jayden was at the cusp of a potential awakening, usually, awakenings happened around the end of puberty, allowing their bodies to fully mature before gaining access to the system.

Jayden and Jonas were both sixteen.

Jayden looks down at his watch. 10:19.

"Oh shit! It's 10:19! We're going to be late for the field trip!" Jayden said.

The two began running, dodging past people on their morning commute.

After arriving at Fienlin Academy, with just seconds to spare, they made it to their homeroom class.

After the teacher went through the class roster, "Ok class before we take a field trip to the tower, we have a special guest."

Everyone turned to look at each other.

"Is there a new student?" Jayden asked himself.

"Please welcome," The door to the classroom opened. "Mr. Shulltow."

A man entered the class, his grey and red robe flapping on the way in. He had piercing green eyes with reddish brownish hair. His skin was an olive color with a scar running from his forehead, across his upper and lower lips, and to his chin. A genital expression sat on his face.

"Hello, everyone. I'm Sir. Calvin Shulltow and I will be your tour guide on your trip to the tower."

Everyone's face lit up, except for one person's, Jayden's.

As the class arrived at the tower, they noticed the 500ft tall obsidian door. Its presence marked a danger that was probable in the tower.

"This is the entrance to the tower. We will only be going up to the fiftieth floor. Past there the guilds haven't cleared yet. So just stick with me and you'll all be fine. But before we enter we will give you all a history lesson on the tower and the rules."

Scoffs and sounds of annoyance came from the crowd. Jayden turned to look at the sky. It was a nice blue, but dark clouds were starting to form. Jayden lowered his head to see a girl standing about 6ft away. She had honey-blonde hair, with innocent blue eyes. She was wearing the school uniform. A vest with the school's logo, a skirt, and some knee-high socks with dress shoes.

She glanced at Jayden but looked away quickly. A tap came from Jayden's left shoulder. He turned to see Jonas.

"Just give her time. You know it's been tough with what happened," Jonas said.

Jayden took one last glance at the girl. "You're right," And turned away.

The rules of the tower are as follows;

1) No going off alone.

2) No non-awakened may enter the tower.

3) Beat the boss on each floor before going to the next.

Each rule was in place to keep a natural order in the tower. These rules were elected with the tower's coming. No man made these rules

"Ok now that you all know the rules, we can enter," Sir. Shulltow said.

The obsidian doors opened revealing the presence of death. The flooring of the first floor had dark marble with large Blackstone pillars lining the sides of the floor.

The group made their way further into the room and found their selves in an elevator.

"Ok everyone, pile in. This will take up to the fiftieth floor."

Everyone got in the elevator, a tight squeeze, but they made it in.

"Floor fifty," Sir. Shulltow said.

[ERROR]

A window popped up in front of Sir. Shulltow.

"Huh? What's this?"

Sir. Shulltow closed the window, "Floor fifty.:

[ERROR]

"Floor fifty, dammit!" Sir. Shulltow yelled.

A blue light started to form around everyone. The light shot from the floor to the ceiling, blinding everyone.

After the light faded, everyone looked around.

The inside of the floor looked like a cathedral. The atmosphere was bright and warm. Stained glass lined the walls with different humans and creatures being portrayed on them. The quartz pillars shooting up giving support were lined with gold. The marble floor contrasted with the velvet-colored carpet running from the elevator to the podium ahead. The chairs were made of walnut wood and had a marron colored seat comforters.

"This isn't the fiftieth floor," Sir. Shulltow said.

"Where are we Mr. Shulltow?" The teacher asked.

"I-I don't know," Sir. Shulltow said.

The group was pushed out of the elevator, it blocking off its entrance.

Jayden looked around. Everyone was frozen with fear.

"It's all ok everyone. We probably just overshot our destination by a few floors. It's all going to be ok," Sir Shulltow said.

Sir. Shulltow searched the group. Everyone was scared. Some were on the verge of tears. Until his gaze landed on Jayden and Jonas.

"You two in the back. The one with the long black hair, about shoulder length, and the one with curly brown hair. Come here."

Jonas and Jayden looked at him. "What does he want with us?" Jayden thought.

Jayden and Jonas walked to the front of the group to Sir. Shulltow. Sir Shulltow turned and started to walk further into the cathedral.

"What are both of your names?" He asked.

"I'm Jonas," Jonas looked at Jayden. "And this is Jayden."

They both looked at Sir. Shulltow.

"The fact that you both are staying calm under pressure is proof you'll both be great adventures, but I have a job for you right now."

"What is it?" Jayden asked.

"I need you both to protect the group. Make sure nothing gets to them."

"Why?" Jonas asked.

"Because," Sir. Shulltow said turning to the alter. "We are far from floor fifty."

Jayden and Jonas both looked at each other.
