Chapter 2
Jake could be seen strapped into a metal chair in a white room full of machines that shows his vitals.
Slowly Jake opened his eyes but the light in the room was like a needle piercing into his eyes.
"Aww... What the f#ck!".
"Switch it off you basterds" Jake growled.
He heard a voice from outside. "Quickly, let Ms. Hila know! The test subject has awakened".
"Call the guards too".
As the researchers started a commotion, Jake realized that he could understand them, even though they were speaking in a language he had never heard before. 'Test subject', 'back to life', and 'guards'—these terms unnerved him. Soon, he could hear the sound of rushing footsteps coming from outside.
'Where the hell am I?' Jake asked himself.
He looked around and found there was no clue for him to figure out his current location. He also tried to break out from his straps but they were really strong for some reason.
Then he saw a notification.
You have been injected with Valkyrie.
Power has increased by 5.
Strength has increased by 5.
You have Leveled Up.
'wait Valkyrie did I just end up in the Germinal Organization camp. And the system said my luck is huge. Wonderful looks like fate wants me and Han Xiao to be a team. Fate is a bitch!' Jake said to himself.

Suddenly, the door opened, and several people walked in. There were many by the way.
"The subject's condition?"
Asked the red haired women to the scientists.
"The subject has calmed down and his vitals are normal. According to the data we got we are ready for the next procedure." The experiment leader, Lin Wei Xian, answered the woman.
'hmm so he's the crazy doctor who's in-charge of this facility.' Jake thought to himself.
"Proceed with the brainwashing" Hela ordered.
Jake was strapped to a metal seat with his eyes forcefully pried open by extensions. Before him was a black screen with speakers on either side.
He was unable to make a single move.
"How long is the procedure?" Hela asked.
"At least 12 hours" the scientist replied.
"Keep an eye on him" saying that Hela left the room.
Lin Wei Xian activated the procedure, and the screen lit up. It began to display all kinds of geometric shapes and patterns that morphed continuously. The vivid, rapidly changing colors and harshly alternating music caused Jake much discomfort. While he wanted to close his eyes badly, he was unable to, and soon, his eyeballs turned bloodshot and swollen.
'Ah! This is so uncomfortable!'
It was a primitive method of brainwashing. The theory behind it was to overwhelm and distort the subject's thoughts to make it easier to feed messages into their mind.
It did, however, have the advantage of not causing permanent damage to the brain, which both Jake and Lin Wei Xian could appreciate.
The depraved expression on Lin Wei Xian's face enraged Jake. He felt like he was a pig at the slaughterhouse.
At the end of the twelve hours, Jake's entire body was aching, and his eyes were completely dried out.
Hila returned on schedule. The boss had assigned her the task of brainwashing Jake, so she had to ensure that everything went smoothly.
She undid Jake's shackles, revealing bruises on his limbs. Although Jake was still hurting, he continued to look at the screen blankly in order to act the part.
"Who are you?" Hela asked.
"From today onward, your name is One. The Germinal Organization is your home, your country, and your everything. You will forever be loyal to the organization and will forever strive to help the organization achieve its goals. You will neither hide anything from nor betray the organization. You will carry out your orders faithfully, and you will sacrifice yourself for the greater good when the time comes!"
Lin Wei Xian broke out in manic laughter.
"Your life belongs to the organization. You will do whatever you are ordered to do," he added.
"Who are you?" re-questioned Hila.
"I am One" Jake answered.
"Looks like he is alright, not like Zero at all the answers were quick too. I told you Zero is a defective specimen." Lin Wei Xian added.
Jake was surprised to hear Han Xiao's name. He knew he was here but still it was a surprise.
"…Take him to recover, I will report to the boss." Hela ordered.
After Hela left there were only Lin Wei Xian and some guards.
'hmm I will just stay here until Han Xiao destroy the base, I could escape from here at that point because of the commotion. It will be nice to see the main character of the story. I will have to give him a friendly vibe because he is my ticket to space and gotta suck up to him. Hahahaha....' Jake thought to himself.
After resting for the night Jake was woken up by the guards and brought to a field. There were others in the field dressed like him.
'They should be the teammates of the real 'One' guy.'
Hela was standing in the field and she. Addressed us "You guys will undergo a daily training routine of combat and shooting exercise from this day onwards."
Saying that Hela left the field.
'Looks like Han Xiao is the only one who gets a personalized training from her. But look at that butt. I like big Butts....' Jake dosed off a bit.
Bang!
Jake couldn't react a bit as a punch landed on his chest sending him flying. It was one of the trainers who was assigned to look after Jake.
They continued like this for two hours, by the end of which Jake was completely exhausted and covered in bruises.
Dexterity has increased by 3.
'Well at least something good is happening.' Jake thought.
After a while a scary looking guy came and took Jake to a firing field.
"I am your shooting trainer, and one of the vice-managers of this base, Baltar," introduced the scary looking man with a hideous knife scar across his forehead.
'Ohh boy this the guy who kept staring Han Xiao. What a luck!.' Jake thought to himself.
After shooting and getting a cut for each miss. Jake was left to get some rest and stayed in the field.
