1 The Engineering System

[Welcome to Summoner's Rift]

The words rang loud and clear in my head as I entered a game, this time playing Viktor.

I bought Doran's Ring and 2 health potions for my starting, and I followed my teammates - a Nautilus - into the enemy jungle.

We managed to get two kills when Nautilus surprised the enemy, with me having 1 kill. It was a successful invade.

I recalled to base, buying cloth armor because I knew that I would need it against Yone, and boy I wasn't wrong.

I am ashamed to admit that I went 1/4 even with an early lead.

These words were broadcasted throughout the Summoner's Rift, and the one it was cheering on was... Yone.

As you would expect, I got my ass flamed by my teammates.

"F*ck... I wish all Yone players would just die..."

I was pissed. I got off League for the sake of preserving what little mental health I had.

"Haaa....."

I let out a deep breath, and I decided to eat dinner.

"What do we have for dinner?"

I asked no one in particular, but as always, my mom's voice rang out of answer me.

"Instant noodles. I didn't have time to eat."

Understandable. My mom has been busy since she got her new job.

It's just that, this was a week of eating instant noodles for every meal. Not the healthiest thing.

I boiled water and poured it onto the noodles to let them cook, and as I waited, I read a novel.

It was, as expected of novels nowadays, an isekai.

Although I've read many of them, I've never grown tired of them due to the fact that I wish it happens to me as well.

Since 3 years ago, when I first started reading novels, I've been imagining me being in a situation like this.

I asked myself, 'speaking of isekai, what would be a cool world to come into?'

First thing that came to my mind as a video game addict was League of Legends, more specifically, Runeterra.

Almost immediately after thinking of that, my rational self found its own answers.

'Nah.'

There are too many events that would be dangerous to my life. Some depending on the region; Demacia's Mage Rebellion, and some global; the Ruination.

'Yeah, bad idea.'

As my thought began to wander off, I realized that the instant noodles finished cooking, and I had my dinner.

After finishing dinner, I went back to my room and resumed playing League, but this time, I played AP Blitzcrank mid.

Totally didn't get flamed that game.

...

You know how some people say that sleep in death is the most abrupt, yet the most peaceful?

Yeah, they weren't wrong.

I literally passed away in my sleep.

'Huh, that's cool.'

How did I know this?

I wondered as I read the texts on a transparent blue screen in front of me.

What? I suddenly had a throbbing headache, and as I slowly recovered, I realized that I was f*cked. I'm in Piltover, one of the many regions of Runeterra.

Most importantly, I was in the world of League of Legends.

(Flashback ends)

It's not the best welcoming into this new world. I bet people received better in isekai novels.

Even though my brain was a jumble of thoughts at the moment, one thought repeatedly comes up as it went away.

The hell is this sh*t?

I must've made an ugly expression on my face because at that moment, my parents came in with a weird look.

"Shaun...?"

They cautiously said to me, afraid that I was struck with another "enlightenment session" that the previous Shaun had.

The "Enlightenment" session as I call it, was when Shaun would have his stupid disease act up.

Literally. The disease causes you to go senile for however long it lasts.

"I'm fine. There's nothing wrong."

As if they'd believe that.

Well, that's what the look of their faces told me.

Dad took the initiative to start the conversation.

"So, Shaun... do you want to go to school this year?"

'School? Like normal schools?'

"What would we learn in schools?"

They took my interest as enthusiasm, but I wasn't going to correct them.

Similar to Mom, Dad had a relieved look on his face as he explained what they taught in Piltover schools.

"You have two options, one; you can either go to a normal school, where they teach you general knowledge, and two; you can go to an engineering school. We can enroll you into Piltover's academy where you can work in the best laboratories. You're old enough to enroll in the first year."

Right, Shaun turned 15 this year, didn't he? I guess I mental maturity is different from chronological age.

"You'll be moving to another apartment as the academy is pretty far away from our house. We'll send you allowances, don't worry. We already paid for the apartment, so don't worry about that either."

Are they just eager to get rid of me, or do they just want the best for Shaun? Either way, I like it.

This would work extremely well with the Engineering System that I have anyways.

Speaking of which, I have to build my first lamp don't I?

Well... it's never to late to learn something.
