10 Danger is not at your doorstep, it's inside your room!

"So, this is the house of the famous Bloodstones," Adaline's expression clearly indicated she didn't want to go inside.

"It's so unhygienic," she continued with a disgusting expression. Her concentration was on the fact that she doesn't want to go inside while Alex was observing the surroundings.

He keenly observed everything about that house. He noticed that they weren't at all interested in keeping the house clean, as if it wasn't their home.

They were sweepers but didn't bother to clean their own house. Something was definitely not adding up.

They entered the house and saw both of them sitting when the bloodstones saw them, they were astonished as if they hadn't seen anyone coming into their house for a long time.

There were spiders crawling here and there, the shelves were empty, and most importantly, there were a lot of scars on their skin and a fresh wound with a tourniquet draped was on Mr. Bloodstone's knee.

The whole thing terrified Adaline and Alex while the officer didn't seem to care about anything.

"Hi, sorry to disturb you, we're here to ask you some questions, hope you don't mind," said Alex. They didn't say a word, it was all so awkward.

"Do you know about the house in the bungalow near the woods?" said Adaline.

At the mention of that house, they looked them suspiciously, they knew something. Whatever color was left on their face was drained completely now, nothing was making sense now.

"Who are you? Why does it matter?" Mrs. Bloodstone asked in a hoarse voice.

"Just curious, about the house, you live near so…" The Bloodstones remained silent so Alex didn't complete his sentence.

"Can you please tell us something about that house?" asked Adaline again.

"We don't know, even if we did why would we tell some stupid teens?" replied Mrs. Bloodstone in a raspy voice, they were definitely hiding something, anyone could tell that by their behavior and the way they spoke was like some devil's voice.

Alex knew they were suspicious from the minute he entered. 'Were they zombies or something? They looked pretty dead by their pale faces,' he wondered.

It was useless as they weren't saying a word except giving rude answers. Their behaviour was really bad towards them, that's another reason why they decided to leave.

So, they decided to head back home. Before leaving, Alex glanced at the whole house once more.

"Our visit to that house was completely useless," said Adaline disappointed.

"Not completely, I noticed things like there was no sign of food or anything that is necessary for living," said Alex.

"What do you mean? They don't live there?" asked Adaline curiously.

"Yeah maybe, I was just saying that they are highly suspectable, I think we should keep an eye on them," said Alex.

"You mean you should because I'm not going anywhere near that house again, they acted really scary, maybe that's the hint for us that danger's at our doorstep, you know how complicated these things are," said Adaline.

"You don't mean it, do you?" Alex asked as if he already knew the answer.

"Actually, I do, but on second thought, I owe you one for my rude behavior. Besides, there should always be something interesting going on in our lives, maybe this mystery is for us," said Adaline with a smirk and left the room.

Adaline wanted to contribute something to the group too, she felt like she was doing nothing for the group, so she decided to do something really dangerous and stupid.

She knew asking permission from his mother was useless because she wouldn't allow her to go alone, and her mom wouldn't let her go there, again and again, it's not an amusement park where she could go anytime, she wanted.

So, she decided to go to the bloodstone's house secretly, she didn't even tell Alex, she wanted to surprise him. She also decided to pay that bungalow a visit.

First, she decided to go to that bungalow, she wasn't sure what she was doing or what she was going to search there, she just felt that she had to go there no matter what.

When Adaline went there, she discovered that the house was not as same as they left that place. The house was as dirty as usual but the furniture they messed with, was now all in its original place. It was sure that somebody or something is cleaning their mess.

Then she occurred with an idea. She messed with everything in that house, trying to act she was searching for something. She knew that if somebody was watching the house, they would see him and then come again to put things in place.

Then she hid in the bushes waiting to find anything or nothing. She waited so long, time was running, she knew if she would reach at this time at home, her mother would ground her, no idea how long. But still, she hoped, someone, to come so her work would not get wasted.

No one came, she started losing hope, with disappointment, she decided to head home. But just in time, she noticed two human figures going towards the house.

Then she saw that they were Mr. and Mrs. Bloodstones! they looked here and there to see if anyone was watching them.

Adaline's heart was beating so fast, she thought she might explode, she froze in her position until it was safe enough to even breathe again.
