Tip Of The Spear

When fighting across the galaxy for the Emperor's grand designs, he gave us missions for every force under his command, the Adeptus Astartes, Astra Militarum and the Adeptus Mechanicus, all these forces had the combined strength of trillions and more. The might of the Imperium with all its power and resources where only able to find maybe a dozen, maybe two and yet what I hold within my very grasp tells me there are many more, potential hundreds for as I scroll through its files some look to be designed for new additions to our war machines, better weapon designs and more to aid our conflicts with our enemies. Yet this is just the tip of the iceberg these are relics from our dark age of tech knowledge and should be found at all costs even by sacrificing entire armies or hive cities all to get just one, for particle use we would call these treasures Standard Template Constructs or STC for short.

This datapad, which holds the secrets of our past and could be the key to many issues of the future, has become the single most important thing to the Imperium, even above the lives of those around me and my mission of resurrecting the XVIth legion and somehow bringing the children of the Emperor back into his service, everything is a second priority to this.

Rylanor watched me as I continued to look through the datapad and spoke with his voice bouncing off the walls, " What have you found? I was only told to protect that standard and the honoured dead that rested there." I stopped reading the invaluable information I held within my very hand and looked at Rylanor, then began to walk towards him putting the datapad away and bringing my sword back to my side, I began to speak with a serious tone, " Rylanor our mission is to protect this data-pad at all costs even with our own lives." Rylanor began to follow me back towards the Thunderhawk with every step an earthquake, matching the tone I had set he spoke once more, " That is without question my friend but what is it that we guard?" We continued to walk through the maze, now ending up at the entrance facing the never-ending blizzard, I turned to Rylanor and announced to him with resolution and pride,

" Rylanor I was given a mission to bring those lost and blinded by the powers of Chaos back to the Emperor's light! With the gifts I received from the Warmaster and that datapad, we will be able to reveal the truth to them, to show them that the lies have consumed their mind, their body and their very soul. Starting with you and me, we will find a way to revive the XVIth legion and if possible recover any other gene-seed of the other legions no matter the cost we will reunite the Imperium and banish the evil that tries to make its way into reality."

We made our way through the blizzard back to the Thunderhawk and before taking off we had to fix Rylanor's short-wave communication, which was a challenge in itself, being rusted by time and wars now past we managed to temporarily fix the problem with the few spear parts I had gathered from other communication devices around the dead city.

A few hours had passed and using whatever salvage we had left we fixed the beacon, as I was about to turn the instrument on, Rylanor made his voice heard, " Titerus is this a wise choice to make? We could potently lure enemy force to us." Pondering his question though his concerns are valid, it was our only chance for we didn't have the fuel or any warp capabilities, " My friend if allies from imperial forces arrive, we are thankful that the Emperor has seen us through this tough time or if our enemy comes... we kill everyone on board and take the ship and the Emperor has guided us out of this hell hole, one way or the other we will survive my friend." patting his arm and then turned the beacon on, the sound of humming and a loud pinging began to ring out through the ship and a sudden spark of electricity came from one of the repairs we made, though it held together and looks to have stabilized itself.

Making my way to the cockpit, we took off from the surface of this death world, pushing through the layers of gravity with difficulty and then it all stopped, all the resistance to keep us there vanished, but to make sure we piloted further away from the planet to make sure we don't drift back into the gravity of Isstvan III.

A month passed, and I trained within the confines of my mind practising my abilities with shadows of my past, figuring out that I could enhance any weapon I use to an unmatched degree preventing more jamming after continuous fire, the damage done by a single round penetrates further, My melee weapons are sharper whenever I use my abilities to enhance it's edge further which includes my power sword or a power axe or any close quarters combat tool, I am also able to enhance my body to greater feats of strength like being able to move faster or withstand being hit by a tank instead of being run over or blown away by it's kinetic force. My connection to the machine spirits is stronger than before since I manifested these abilities which is how I can figure out these things relating to my weapons. As I train these powers I am starting to understand my body better than before, I would like to thank the person who gave me these enhancements.

As my thoughts consumed me, Rylanor spoke, " Titerus scans have picked up a signal, the object seems to be roughly five kilometres in length and about a kilometre high, what are your orders?" Hearing his words I can count on Rylanor to be a trusted adviser for the future ahead and a commander for when we wage war on the Emperor's foes, for we have both been itching for combat, but now is not the time to release these thoughts and feelings, " We wait and see, if it comes down to a fight we have enough fuel to ram into their hanger or even the hull if that is what it takes." Out in the dead of space coming out of the Warp a massive warship of the Imperial Navy slowly made its way out of the tear in space, a Gothic class Cruiser boasting its mighty energy weapons called Lance's were not designed to tear down shields but to pierce enemy armour like it was not there to begin with.

The ship made its approach towards the Thunderhawk, and commons came to life, it seems they are wishing to talk, let's find out who this person is, I pressed a button in the cockpit which opened up communications between the two ships, a woman's voice spoke with authority and pride in her voice, " This is Vice Admiral Fiora Betatar of the Imperial Navy, addressing space marine strike craft respond." me and Rylanor looked towards each other and accepting the situation I respond to this Vice Admiral's message, " Vice Admiral Fiora Betatar, this is Chapter Master Titerus Vain of the Luna Wolves we have suffered heavy losses and require transport to Imperial space, respond." expecting to be interrogated further, as on why we are out hear? Instead, we received clearance to land in one of the hangers which was a pleasant surprise.

Now inside the Spear of War, we made our way to the ramp of the Thunderhawk, I lowered the ramp and stepped out first, I felt a hundred eyes on me as my figure was giant compared to even other space marines, stepping out a bit further so my friend can show himself.

Rylanor the Contemptor dreadnought and to add a Venerable dreadnought, even worn down by time itself his glorious appearance even though spots of dirt and times attempt to erode his purple, gold colour stood out and shone bright and his tremendous size and assault cannon made a intimidating show of force, we stood there and felt the fear of those around us as people couldn't help but feel when they gazed upon us, walking forward I spoke to every man and woman there, " You need not fear us, for we are the Emperor's angels and you are his soldiers like me and like him", I gestured towards Rylanor, "keep calm soldiers for this part, will be over soon." Me and Rylanor stood there unmoving and unshakeable from our position and if someone were to walk into the room right this very moment, they would have thought us statues.

Several minutes passed by, and the entrance to the hanger opened with pressured air hissed out as several officers walked towards us through the cloud of air made by the door in their tidy uniforms guarded by a squad of guardsmen and stopped about five metres away, so we waited for them to speak first, since this is their ship after all.

A female officer stepped forward wearing more medals and honours than the others combined and I felt pretty certain that this was Vice Admiral Fiora Betatar that I was talking to, but I didn't expect to see the woman any more than her late forties or early fifties instead, she looked to be in her late thirties missing an eye replaced with a bionic red one, her hair jet black like gunpowder and scars all over her hands, she started to speak with authority, " My lord we are happy to accommodate you but we are unable to take you to your desired destination where ever that may be." think on her words, we didn't have a specific heading anyway, so I stepped forward and took off my helmet and placed it under my arm and asked," What is the destination of your warship?" She looked into my eyes and I looked back at hers, she began to speak once more after giving up the steering contest, " We are heading to the gothic sector specifically Port Maw, there has been a brewing rebellion in the hive city there called Malora, they sent a message to any nearby fleets for aid of any kind." I looked towards Rylanor and he gave me a nod of approval, then I looked back at her with a serious face, " We will aid your mission to fight all would-be traitors until we complete the mission or find travel to our objective."
