The Last Tears

Emerald Castle... Jemmy sat lonely with his laptop hosting an online meeting with his staff. When he heard a slight movement, he looked at the bed attentively. "Send someone to protect Marina. She's my sister." Naysa said while still asleep. Jemmy didn't understand whether she was dreaming or meant what she said. When he tried to wake her up, she was still sleeping. But anyway, Wade was send off to Polar hotel. Evening, Naysa opened her eyes and stared into the black shiny eyes. Jemmy was too happy when she woke up. Though the doctor just said she was ok, Jemmy could still not believe his words. "How do you feel?" Jemmy asked. Naysa wanted to sit up but the strong hands held her back. "You'll hurt yourself." "Am fine I can sit ok?" She said but Jemmy didn't let her go. "Naysa there is one thing we have to talk about. The way you do take rush decisions is alarming and that's endangering your life. At least, wherever you go, take the guards with you. For the sake of your protection." Jemmy said. Naysa, with Jemmy's support sat up and looked at him. "I just don't know what came over me. Am sorry." She said, lowering her head like an obedient child to the parents. It was too cute that Jemmy stared at her admiringly. Even at her weakest point, she's still never lost her beauty. "I'll make you something to eat." He said as he stood up and headed to the kitchen. "Hey, some wonders here today!" Adrian started. "He's going to personally cook for her." Another guard said. "Wait, does he even know how to cook?" Stenson couldn't help laughing. In a matter of five minutes, the kitchen looked like a tornado zone. Broken pieces of glasses and plates were all over. Flour was all over the place plus in his face. His whole clothes were covered in flour and other kitchen ingredients. When he came out, Naysa who sat in the living room burst out laughing. Stenson couldn't help it as he took pictures. The other guards went out the couldn't suppress their laughter any longer. "Ooh my God! What were you doing?" Naysa held a mirror close to his face but Jemmy closed his eyes. "Do I look terrible?" He asked in a cute deep voice. "No... Not really. Who said my husband can look terrible? You look cute and funny. You've won a suit to the kitchen? I can't help it." Naysa laughed again. Looking at his suit, Jemmy couldn't help frowning. "What did you prepare for me?" She asked. "I made instant noodles." He said. "And how did you have your whole body covered in flour?" She asked. Jemmy kept quiet. "Can I go to the kitchen and have a look?" "No... Don't go there!" Jemmy stepped forward to stop her. "Can we go together then?" Naysa asked. "If you insist." He replied while leading the way. Naysa followed. The whole kitchen was a mess. The trash can was full of spoilt dumplings, pan cakes and many other goods he tried to prepare. He looked at Naysa innocently. "Ok you did a good job, but you're a pretty bad cook." She said. Jemmy stared at her as if digesting what she just said. "Ok, don't be mad at me for that kind of a comment. Can I be your teacher then?" "Sure." He replied. "But there is a fee to pay. Are you ready?" She asked. "How much is it teacher?" He asked eargerly that Naysa laughed. "It's not about money. It's something else." She said. "Whatever you want, I'll do it for you." Jemmy said. "Good, now take a guess before I tell you."

CHAPTER TWENTY ONE: I HATE THE GOVERNMENT AND IT'S PEOPLE

HAVEN'S HOME

Naysa arrived home after a tasty morning meal with the CEO of Red State Company. Uncle Tarran was at the backyard trimming the flowers since he was the only one around. Naysa got into her room, changed into a simple black dress and went to check on her uncle.

"You don't have lectures today?" Uncle Tarran asked immediately after greetings.

"In the evening." Naysa said.

"Why are you here alone? Where did you leave Marina?" He asked since the two had become more attached to each other.

"Uncle, Marina has her own people. She went home."Naysa said. "Uncle, my school fees issues has been settled."

"What did you say? By who?" Uncle Tarran stopped trimming and went by her side.

"Uncle, I don't know how to explain everything to you but some good hearted human being did that. Aren't you happy?" Naysa didn't want to mention the Red State Company right now. She didn't want her uncle to be suspicious on something she herself wasn't sure off. She didn't know why Jemmy did all this. She personally was confused, how could she tell her uncle that?

"Am happy but, can I meet this good Samaritan of yours to thank him?" Uncle Tarran asked.

"How did you know he's a man?" Naysa looked at her uncle closely.

"I guessed."

Before Naysa could speak, cars hooted in the front. They went to check who it was. They didn't expect anyone and Naysa prayed that this wasn't another truck from Jemmy. On getting there, neatly dressed guards were out waiting. Naysa half closed her eyes and looked at the embroidered logo, the Campbell who was now the current president. Why are they here?

"Mr... And young miss, the president send this gifts here to compensate for the death on General Henry Haven." Kevin spoke first.

Compensate? Naysa looked at the guard who pointed at the open car boot. She walked over followed by uncle Tarran. From car to car, there were different boxes with different gifts. She then turned to the man who looked at her with respect.

"Let me ask you a question, there are many families that lost loved ones, why does he choose to pay the Haven's and not the other families?" Naysa asked.

"It's because the general was well honored and is still remembered as the country's legend." The guard said. Naysa laughed dryly.

"That's not funny. Do you think the gifts can bring back the life of my father? Do you think it can even compensate for the years he toiled much and fought for this country's peace? Is it even enough to compensate the twelve years we spend without him? The government chose to ignore the family completely since my father died. There was a time when we badly needed the government's help, not now." Naysa grinded her teeth hard and looked at Kevin.

"Young miss, it's impolite to turn down the president. It's a small respect to the dead." Kevin said.

"Disrespect not respect. It was embarrassing to bury my father like a nobody when he died for the country. It was more stressful and strenuous struggling all those years after his death to keep up with the country's rising economy, and you dare look down on us and bring this today? After twelve years? My father's life was precious and priceless, but the government turned a deaf's ear. Now, if you really want to honor the dead, go dig up his grave and bury him with your so called gifts, probably that way, he'll be happy. I hate you, I hate the government and everyone in it. I hate the way the president thinks that money can buy everything and money can compensate everything. I hate his greed for power. Since the president chose to ignore this family, tell him we no longer need his help. Get your fucking help to those who need them. Come, get out of this compound!" Naysa vented her anger. They had igbkred her father's death and the family as a whole, why now? Why would they want to compensate them?

Now the guards were surprised. She dared turn down the president? They pitied her. What will she do if the president comes in person? She dared say she hates the president, what a courageous lady.

"He's dead yes, but at least his name, his family and his lone grave should be respected." Naysa murmured with hatred and walked in. The guards looked at her, then uncle Tarran who snorted at them and drove off.

Naysa took her jacket and angrily walked out. She had to meet Marina who would comfort her. Uncle Tarran didn't say anything but marveled at her intelligence and courage.

"I don't know if I'll come back any day soon." She waved and drove off. Uncle Tarran nodded.
