Chapter 28

There was a mechanical whine from the front of the cell, and three sets of ears tuning in. The twin doors opened, and gave a teal-skinned creature with a starched white uniform access. He strode in with stiff motions and an expressionless face.

He wore a woven string around his neck. A hook connected the string to a card-filled plastic pocket. Relda tipped her head sideways to read the card. Classic Progor symbols.

Eyan Altier, she translated the words.

Her heart sped up for a second. She gave it a second glance. It had been a hasty interpretation after all.

“My name is Eyan Altier,” he said, flopping the necklace up. “I’m the doctor and lab tech here. That’s not why I’m here. Captain Kenwood enlisted me for--well, questioning.”

Relda stood and flattened her garment. She raised both palms toward the ceiling. Ty found his feet, grappling for balance. Eyan furrowed his brows and growled. He fixated on Raylay.

“Well. Well. Well.” Eyan sneered. “Little Kenwood.”
