The visits

Lindiwe was now a former staff member of ' Rise and shine children's home' and was not allowed to enter its premises as per Mrs Van Zyl' s instructions. She would sneak around in disguise when she decided to visit former colleagues and to check on Rowena. She would wear a think afro wig and and a pair of goggles and then covered her head with a headscarf. This made her to be unrecognisable. Even Rowena was terrified when she came to see her. She was not allowed to talk to strangers and she nearly freaked out when Lindiwe called her name. She realised it later that it was her. They chatted for a few minutes before Lindiwe left. She knew that Rowena would be in trouble if she was found talking to her. She sneaked in when Mrs Van Zyl was not around. She would notified when she had gone to attend one of her other projects. Most of the time she would visit on Sundays when Mrs Van Zyl and most children were at church.

One Sunday morning she came to visit as usual but Mrs Van Zyl came back unexpected because she had forgotten something so, she had to come and fetch it. She was caught off guard and she had to explain why she was talking to Rowena. Then Mrs Van Zyl noticed her. She was given an ultimatum and thrown out of the yard by the security guard who was at the gate. Even the security guard had to answer as to why he allowed her in. He was off the hook because he told Mrs Van Zyl that he did not notice her. After that the gate of the centre was always locked and everyone would be inspected closely before they were allowed in. This made it difficult for Lindiwe to visit again.

Mrs Van Zyl that Lindiwe spoil things for her if she did not act quickly. She decided to trick Rowena into writing a letter to her grandfather. She called her in her office. She pretended to teach her how to write a letter. "Rowena I want to know how good you are in writing a letter" she said. She gave her a pen and a paper. She told her what to write in the letter. This is what she wrote,

Dear granddad

I am writing this letter to let you know that I am grateful about the gifts you sent me. I love the computer games and the clothes fit me just fine. Mrs Van Zyl told me that they are from my granddad. I would like to meet you one day. Mrs Van Zyl told me that you are going to visit me. I would be happy to see you

Your granddaughter

Rowena

Mrs Van Zyl smiled to herself and enclosed it in the letter she wrote to Mr Miller. She enclosed it with the words" here is your granddaughter' s letter. She knew that Mr Mr Miller would realise the hand writing belonged to a child. This made Mr Miller not to believe what Lindiwe and Clara told him about Mrs Van Zyl. He and Mrs Van Zyl were long time friends there was no way that she would doubt her actions. And Mrs Van Zyl' s brother-in-law was a curator fir his assets. He was one of the best known lawyers. This means that Mr Miller trusted them with his everything. Being a black person and try to badmouth a white person to another white person was an offense. So, Clara and Lindiwe were given a warning to stay out of Mr Miller's business. This frustrated Lindiwe because she knew what Mrs Van Zyl was up to no good. All she wanted was to get her share in one of Mr Miller' assets. She even wanted him to donate a lumpsum of money so that she would be able to open more of her businesses.

She knew very that if Rowena could become an heir, there was nothing she could get in Mr Miller's wealth. She decided to work with her brother in law to coax Mr Miller into investing in her businesses. Now Rowena was a stumbling block to her plans. She was devising some plans to get rid of her. She had to come up with a plan that would not jeopardize her chances of getting what she wanted. Mr Miller was already an old man. Anything that could happen to Rowena would affect his health. She did not want to risk that too and besides Mr Miller was a long time friend. Rowena was becoming burden to her because she had to use her to contact Mr Miller. She became a bond between Mr Miller and his granddaughter. What she did not was them to get too close to each other. She tried by all means to make them apart. Rowena did not know anything about her grandfather. That would be a disappointment to Mr Miller because he did not know that his granddaughter had not been told about him. So, Mrs Van Zyl had to act very smart. On the other hand, Lindiwe and Clara were not giving up on their plan to help Rowena. Lindiwe was adamant to expose Mrs Van Zyl. She was also doing that in vengeance of her unfair dismissal. More than than that she wanted Rowena to get what was rightfully hers. Rowena was an heir in Mr Miller's estates, so no one had the right to block her from getting that, she told herself. Mrs Van Zyl was an unpredictable woman. That means Lindiwe had to be well informed of all her actions so that she would not be left behind. She decided to send her niece to work in the centre so that she would be her eyes and ears. Mrs Van Zyl did not know that she hired Lindiwe's niece. Lindiwe and one of her former colleagues came up with a plan. The colleague pretended that Lindiwe' s niece was her acquaintance. So she was hired because she had a reference who was working in the centre. Their plan worked.
