Running Away…maybe

Present day

"Hey wake up" I heard as a familiar voice walked in "give me a few more minutes John"I responded with. " Okay whatever you want I guess your serving of pancakes are mine" John says while smirking. I shot up " Oh you wouldn't dare" i said ``''but i would" John said in a teasing voice. I groaned as I slowly got out of bed and headed to the cafeteria.

While in line for the breakfast it hit me the reason John woke me up was because it wasn't pancakes day it was eggs covered in acidberry jelly( acid berry a type of edible berry that is extremely sour and can be fatal if eaten in high enough doses though is the most healthy berry out there in high quantities). John knew if I was asleep to miss a meal it would be this one. I John at our cabin's breakfast table smirking at me while eating his eggs. I get my serving and sit down next to John. He's still laughing as loud as ever while I just give him a kind and friendly death stare at him. To be fair he did do what he was supposed to as it is illegal to skip any meal of the day so i should be thanking him, but I'm not doing it now I'm not doing that ever.

After eating breakfast and saying goodbye to John I head to my workplace. I personally work at the berry farm. At the berry farm there are 5 levels. The higher the level the more important and the more credits you get, each level has a different berry. "Welcome new workers to the berry farm. Each one of you will be placed in the blueberry farm. The first of the farms. you are working towards these more important farms first the level two acidberries, then level three cherries, next level four decroseberries, and finally the most important Level five apples" the announcer said . I personally work on level two which sucks because it constantly smells like burning acid? I believe that's what great great grandma said before she passed on, though it just smells sour in my opinion.

As I stamp in my time sheet I see a shadow walking towards me. I shudder as I realize who it is "Hello Reginald how are you doing in farm two hopefully above average we just got a spot open for farm three". "I'm doing wonderful Mr.Boss and I'm always working hard" I say."Okay" Mr.Boss says suspiciously as he walks away. I slowly walk towards my farm and start picking berries. 1 hour later, while getting one of my baskets to pick more berries I see a flash of pink next to the fence which was weird because there was nothing pink in the entire farm. I contemplated whether I should go investigate or not because if I do it could go one of two ways. One I get a promotion for addressing a problem or two I go and investigate something that is private information and get fired. I choose to ignore it for now because my boss has already hinted about me getting a promotion, is what logical me would say instead curiosity got the best of me and went over to investigate.

I nervously walked over to the edge of the farm, I started to see pieces of the fence scattered everywhere. For a second I thought about turning around but like the leader always said "once you run from the battle you already lost the war". The second i get there i see a giant earthworm I sigh in relief, thankfully it was only chewing on the fence( After the war one of the only animals to survive were earthworms and because the ate all of the dead and radiated plants and animals they grew to monstrous sizes around 3 feet tall 14 feet long and 4 feet wide). Luckily earthworms are gentle giants, but I didn't care about that as I saw the most wonderful thing ever, the outside. Before this I've never been outside, I mean the farms are in greenhouses. Then something strange happened that has never happened before. I wanted to leave the clan. I mean it was right there the outside and I know if I don't take this chance now I may never get it again. I take a deep breath, grab water and some berries, and slowly but surely walk outside.

Honestly seeing all of these gorgeous plants and trees is surreal as I've only seen pictures of them in clan three. Walking further and further away from the broken fence honestly kind of makes me feel lonely I don't know how I feel about leaving my friends and family. But I believe it is for the best as going to explore the world honestly seems like a better trade off than staying in one place forever.

I don't know anything about surviving in the outside world but I do know what is edible and inedible around clan 3's territory. Luckily I brought some acid berries and water so now all I really need to do is find a camp to settle for the night.

Now that I really think about it I think I regret leaving I mean a nice warm and happy home was awaiting me every night. So thinking I could find my way back I turn around and after walking around for a hour I did not find clan 3. So I guess it looks like I'm gonna have to camp out here for the night. I mean at least there is some trees I could sleep on for safety.

I wish I grabbed a weapon for protection after realizing that there was a bunch of creepy crawlers throughout the night. Spiders and cockroaches and a couple of snakes I think. Eventually I made it through the night and climbed down the tree to see that "it rained while I asleep which was fun because now the floor was muddy and slippery" I said to myself sarcastically.

Still trying to find my way back home I see something that looks like a cloud of smoke. Knowing that this was probably clean three gun powder I start walking over into the direction. But to my surprise it was actually just factory still producing smoke weirdly.

I said I would have to enter it to investigate more and maybe even find a decent weapon while I was in there to protect myself. I confidently walk into the building hopefully to see no dangers in there at all.

Decroseberries are a very surgery berry that can give anyone a huge boost of energy for a short while. This is clan 3's signature berry as it only grows in their territory, though they are still rather rare. They are sold for high prices to the other clans.
