I was surprised to hear him say that. Did the king tell him to do that?

"She is my wife, my bride," Alistair bragged as he walked to where I stood. He leaned over and gave me a kiss like he did not want our bodies to touch. I wonder why, because last night, he was glued to my body before his disappearance. "Look how beautiful you look in this dress."

A blush bloomed on my delicate cheeks as I stood my ground. I did not want to show that I was impressed with the compliments.

"Hope you slept well, my lady?" the other man behind asked. I saw him at the party, yet we had not spoken until now.

"He is Lord Walter my lady," Lord Anekroi introduced the handsome man to me. I wanted to greet him, but he bowed briefly and stepped back. "How did you find the castle?"
