This story takes place in the modern world. A young girl who lived a shelter life due to her strict parents. Growing up Qian Lan always thought she was adopted seeing as how her parents always neglected her needs. The only one she could rely on was herself and her best friend Ah-Mi. To make matters worse, her family owned the biggest buddhist shrine located in NY, Chinatown. Qian Lan slaved her days away and was always locked inside her bedroom most of the time. Her fate is about to change as she is about to embark on a new journey on her twentieth birthday to the past.
