37 Day before the Final Task

McGonagall berated Cross for a whole hour about all the rules he broke and how much trouble he would have been in had there not been a Tournament going on. Cross listened to her but didn't really listen, he knew what he did, it was part of his act.

He wanted the person behind the scenes to reveal themselves so he could clear the problem. He was trying to speed things up because he was worried for Luna's safety now. Drastic measures had to be taken, of course that wasn't his full power.

He would have killed Krum in an instant if he did you all his power, this was a sufficient underestimation of his strength for Cross to still have a chance for a surprise attack.

It was also him venting out his frustrations about Luna being put in danger, he didn't like Krum and he was a good pawn. As for whether Cross was still jealous? Maybe a little, therefore he took out everything on Krum without any scruples.

McGonagall finally finished her lecture and looked at Cross adding "I'm severely disappointed in you." Snape was silent but Moody spoke up "Professor, I think Mr. Greengrass did a good thing." McGonagall looked at Moody and said "How could you say something like that, Alastor!"

Snape gave his opinion "I agree with Alastor." McGonagall was shocked, Moody explained "Since they have been here, Durmstrang has been increasingly arrogant. Treating Hogwarts as if it were their own home! What Mr. Greengrass did was put them in their place and show them that Hogwarts isn't to be trifled with, isn't that right Cross?"

Cross nodded and said "This is true, Professor! I couldn't handle their haughty looks any longer! There's a saying I've heard before; I don't hate arrogant people, but I hate people who are more arrogant than me!"

Moody chuckled and Snape coughed, turning away. McGonagall was speechless as she said "Who said that?" Cross said shamelessly "It was me, Professor." McGonagall was dumbfounded, Moody laughed directly and Snape turned to the side, unable to deal with Cross' cheekiness.

Moody coughed as he said to McGonagall "You see Professor, Mr. Greengrass had Hogwarts' best intentions at heart." McGonagall glanced at Moody before looking at Cross and saying "You are lucky, Professor Moody has vouched for you Mr. Greengrass. If this happens again, I will not be lenient! Even if there is a World Wizard cup! Understood?"

Cross nodded and said "Thank you, Professor! You look charming today as well." McGonagall kicked him in the ass saying "Get out! Cheeky brat..." Cross snickered and left the room, rubbing his ass with a grin as he disappeared out the door.

Cross expression turned grave as he left the room. Nobody stepped forward to interrogate him about his spells. Seems like it wasn't enough. Cross cursed inwardly and walked back to the great hall, thinking about what his next move was.

The students looked at Cross in surprise, most of them didn't know what happened in the great hall yet, they were just surprised that he was basically wearing a t-shirt and boxers with slippers, as if he just got out of bed. Nobody said anything?!

They decided they were going to start walking around like that as well.

By the time Cross got back to the great hall, 30% of the students were walking around with pajamas, as if it was pajama day or something.

Cross walked back into the great hall and whispers exploded in the room, Cross ignored them and sat back in his original seat. As if nothing happened, he started eating again.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione were stunned, but Luna started eating as she said "Oh, don't eat the sausage. The Wilmplywerts got into it." Cross clicked his tongue and skipped over the sausage to something else.

Hermione couldn't take it anymore and said "Well!?" Cross said through stuffed cheeks "Well what?" Ron felt like smashing his head into the table as he said "What happened?"

Cross said "Oh! So basically McGonagall spouted nonsense for an hour straight and the Moody vouched for me, I gave McGonagall a quote, complimented her, and got kicked out." before going back to eating, as if he was talking about someone else.

Hermione said "Spouted nonsense"

Ron said "Gave her a quote?"

Harry said "Moody vouched for you?"

Luna said "Complimented her?!"

Cross looked at Luna, bewildered, before saying "Oi... She's like over a hundred years old!" Luna grumbled and tore at her food angrily, but she looked so cute with the over sized hoodie.

Cross turned to the rest and said "Yes she did. Moody said I was defending the school's reputation!" he coughed and said righteously "As I was!" the three rolled their eyes and Ron said "What quote, mate?"

Cross gave them a deep look filled with wisdom as he said "I told her; I don't hate arrogant people, I just hate people who are more arrogant than me!" That was it. Ron smashed his head into the table at an attempt to take his own life.

Harry was stunned and Hermione stuttered "Y-You told M-McGonagall t-that?!" Cross nodded and said "Yeah, came up with it myself. You like it?" Luna burst out laughing and Cross stretched his arm out, catching her as she fell backwards, while eating with the other hand.

He was still looking at Harry and Hermione, not even paying attention to Luna, which shocked Harry and Hermione. Cross added "En. I told her I came up with it too." there was a loud thump and Ron fell to the ground as he said "Impossible.. I can't do it!"

Hermione covered her face, feeling embarrassed for him, while Harry was just too shocked to even say anything.

Cross finished eating and burped before asking "Do you know what the next task is?" Harry shook his head and Cross clicked his tongue muttering "If they put Luna in danger again, I'll go on a rampage.." Luna turned her head with stuffed cheeks and a cute little smile, Cross almost kissed her right there, but held back.

Harry said "But I heard Dumbledore say that it will be at the maze behind the school." Cross looked at him and said "Oh? What IS Dumbledore doing right now?" Harry shrugged and said "Probably setting up the final task.."

Cross hummed and looked at Harry deeply as he said "Is that so." Luna nudged him and pointed behind him. Cross sniffed and said in French "What do you want." Fleur said "I heard something from my headmistress." Cross turned around to look at her.

He hung one leg off the bench and bent the other, leaning his elbow on the table, resting his head in his palm as he said "What do you want." Fleur smiled and said "Nothing." Cross narrowed his eyes and Fleur got fidgety as she said "Protect me in the final task."

Cross said "Impossible, you're a burden for me." Fleur blushed and said "Please!" Cross said "No." Fleur let out a breath and said "You don't have to help me win. I just want to get to the end." Cross clicked his tongue and replied "Depending on your information, I will help you."

Fleur was thrilled, for two reasons, he had actually sneakily denied her again! She squirmed and said "Bartimus Crounch was killed last night." Cross raised a brow and said "How?" Fleur responded almost immediately, really needing to leave at the moment before she did something shameful, "Killing Curse!"

Cross waved her away saying "Beat it, I can smell you. Filthy creature..." That really didn't help Fleur's condition as she ran out of the great hall, Cross said from behind her "Find me tomorrow morning... If you're late forget about it." Fleur almost moaned in agreement as she disappeared.

Cross clicked his tongue in disgust as he muttered "Disgusting Veela..." Luna looked at him with a 'smile', Cross was spooked as he said "What?" Luna replied snappily "If you're nice, she won't like it." Cross said "I can't help it. I really hate those things."

Ron said "Things?" Cross said "You didn't know? They're all Veela." Hermione said "Veela?!" Harry and Ron said in confusion "Veela?" Hermione explained "Sexual beings." Harry and Ron said "Ohhhhh!" nodding along with the conversation.

Hermione said "What did she say?" Cross said with a bored expression "Bartimus Crounch was killed last night by a Killing Curse." Hermione, Ron, and Harry didn't look surprised and Cross' face fell as he asked "Don't tell me... Did you find his body?"

They nodded and Cross slapped his forehead saying "Why didn't you tell me! I have to protect her now!" Luna said sharply "Protect her?!" Cross grumbled "She's only getting a half-assed shield charm now..."

Harry said "But who would want to kill Crounch?" Cross mumbled "Maybe his son?" Harry said "His son?" Cross nodded and said "Didn't what's his name say that he sent his own son to Azkaban?" Harry nodded and said "That's true... Plus I saw his son in my dream!"

Hermione said "Did you tell Dumbledore?" Harry nodded, Cross looked at Harry closely, why did nobody feel suspicion towards Dumbledore? He's the go-to guy for information? Dumbledore's suspicion rate went up to 90%.

Cross was almost sure it was Dumbledore, but he needed proof. How he was going to get proof was beyond him...

Cross left the great hall with Luna, he wanted to spend the last day before the Tournament ends with her. They walked around Hogwarts and had a lot of fun together, acting in front of other students and letting their true personalities show when they were alone.

A while later

Cross sent Luna back before heading back to his room and going to sleep, readying himself for tomorrow.
