Chapter 6

"Hah... Let's call it a draw..."

Nino:

"Fufufu... Ugh."

She's fast, but I'm faster. Though it doesnt work out if she gets a head start. Thankfully I avoided owing her any form of money. Well, we are here to collect just that. There are several different types of currency but the most common form comes as a small bronze coin. The currency is quite complicated but can be easy to understand after you get used to it.

The most common and worth the least are small bronze coins. Bronze coins are worth about 2 small bronze coins, small silver coins are worth about 5 small bronze coins, silver coins are worth 2 silver coins, silvhex coins are worth 2 silver coins, silvsept coins are worth 5 silver coins, small gold coins are worth 2 silvsept coins, gold coins are worth 2 small gold coins, diamond coins are worth 5 small gold coins, ruby coins are worth 2 diamond coins and finally, an amethyst coin are worth 2 ruby coins.

Here's a chart to make things easier to understand.

Bronze Coin = 2 small bronze coins (sbc)

Small Silver Coin = 5 sbc

Silver Coin = 10 sbc

Silvhex Coin = 20 sbc

Silvsept Coin = 50 sbc

Small Gold Coin = 100 sbc

Gold Coin = 200 sbc

Diamond Coin = 500 sbc

Ruby Coin = 1000 sbc

Amethyst Coin = 2000 sbc

All of this is directly placed into a special inventory which takes the form of a special card. Through this card, we can pull out any amount of money we desire, so long as we have enough of course. It's like taking out any ordinary item, except it's just money. It's commonly referred to as sbc.

Anyway, having arrived at the guild hall- it was luckily very empty. Only the employees were about who were doing simple tasks such as cleaning up or attending to customer's needs at the guild counter.

Keshin:

"Now what?"

Nino:

"We go look for quests of course! We'll pick one out by the time Hyou gets here and we can leave asap!"

Why do I have doubt in this?

Keshin:

"Well alright, let's go."

She skipped to the board- that girl just has too much energy. Trying to keep up with her- it then hit me about how large the bulletin board is. Having been here three days before yestersay- you'd think I'd know this place well. But I guess I was just too focused on recruiting for a party.

Now that I think about it, I could've done solo quests while waiting. Talk about a waste of time.

Nino:

"Oh! Look at that one there!"

Looking up to where she pointed- it seemed to be a pretty basic farm quest. Killing several wolves.

Keshin:

"No."

Nino:

"What, you scared of wolves or something?"

Keshin:

"That wouldn't be wrong."

I joked. Look, it was funny to me- okay?

Keshin:

"Alright, wolf clearing quest it is. Let's see if there's anything else."

Nino:

"You want to accept more quests?"

Keshin:

"Yeah, I mean it'd make sense if we got more quests related to wolves. They seem to be standard wolves, so maybe item quests focusing on wolf fur."

Nino:

"Ah, we can earn some sweet cash!"

Did Hyou go over the basics for Nino at all? She seems to be a total airhead- all walk and talk but no brain power. Wait, she's supposed to be the mage? Is she supposed to be dependant?

Hyou:

"What quest did you pick out this time Nino?"

Nino:

"Oh! Hyou, everyone, I picked out this wolf quest!"

Hyou:

"Hm... 10 wolves for 5000 sbc. That sounds good on paper, but there are 6 of us Nino. You gotta pick out more quests."

Keshin:

"Oi. Let us finish, we picked out about 4 other quests."

Hyou:

"F-Five? You think we can finish them all?"

I nodded, looking to Nino who gave me a thumbs up. This girl is helpless- but cute at the same time. Don't judge a book by its cover they say, I totally misjudged her. I thought she'd be the quiet, reserved, smart and intelligent mage with incredible power. Only the last one seemed to be right.

Keshin:

"Yeah, they're just item quests so they should be easy."

Hyou:

"Whew- thought Nino would pick out several monster killing quests."

So that's what she does. Picking out the wrong quests.

Keshin:

"Anyway, look, these quests require items that anyone can grt from these wolves. Wolf fur x10, wolf claws x10, wolf fang x10, and all three by ten again."

Hyou:

"How much would we earn in total?"

Keshin:

"Hm... Around 30000 sbc."

These quests require us to kill so many wolves, that'd be the only issue. Killing 10 wolves is fine- but the chance for these items to drop is what really makes or break how much we earn. The time limit is one day too, so we have to act fast when we accept them.

Nino:

"How many do you recon we will kill?"

Effie:

"Given the chances, we'll end up having to kill at least 20 if we're the luckiest there is. But I'd say 50 is the safe amount."

Santos:

"50 wolves in one day... Can we keep up with that much? They're all clearly level 10 quests."

Effie:

"Judging by your gear, I don't think it wll be safe at all for you Keshin."

Keshin:

"You can never be safe with wolves."

Haji:

"Pft."

They all seemed to direct their attention towards Haji who let out a slight chuckle. Guess it's a first for them.

Keshin:

"Anyway- I'll be fine! Santos is right here to back me up."

Santos:

"I back everyone up though."

Keshin:

"Well then I'm counting on you."

Santos:

"Got it chief."

Nino:

"Hah, I can do a better job at that. Hey Keshin, let me back you up instead!"

Santos:

"You're meant to do that anyway."

She's really starting to worry me.

Hyou:

"Let's not waste anymore time. I'll head to the counter so just take a seat and order some breakfast."

Nino:

"I demand sushi!"

Effie:

"Sushi for breakfast doesn't work out Nino."

Santos:

"Why not just have the standard for breakfast? I could use some bacon, eggs and sausages."

Effie:

"Sounds like a protein breakfast. I'll gladly take it."

The three went over to sit down at the table. Keshin had made his way to the counter to accept the 5 quests. Let's hope we can do this.

Haji:

"Your sword has luck boost, I failed to mention that earlier."

Keshin:

"It does? That could make things a lot easier."

Haji:

"Yeah, you only need to land one hit for its affect to work. With the sword, you can definitely keep up with this quest."

Keshin:

"You think? I'll take your word for it then. I just need to focus on not getting hit."

Haji:

"Oh, and take this."

She opened her inventory once more- to which she handed me a dagger.

Keshin:

"A dagger?"

Haji:

"Yes, I would recommend you using it. After all, having something equipped to your off-hand will improve your combat capabilities exponentially."

Keshin:

"You're right about that. Alright, I'll take it. But I won't take anything else from you."

Haji:

"Take this necklace too."

Keshin:

"Hey!"

Clearly a joke, the two of us began laughing. Again, this isn't what I imagined a party being like- but I certainly don't mind it whatsoever.

Keshin:

"Let's go to them now. Let's also work on how much you talk too."

Haji:

"H-huh?"

Keshin:

"Let's go, Hajikeru."

Haji:

"I'll kill you."

Keshin:

"AHEM! Sniper, Sniper."

Alright, I confirmed- Sniper in public and private. Guess my bond isn't high enough. If this were a romance game- this relationship would be a solid rank one.

Receptionist:

"Hello, welcome to the Town of Beginnings guild hall, you may call me Serena. Are there any specific requests you'd like to make?"

Hyou:

"Yes, I'd like to accept a few quests please."

Serena:

"No need for formalities darling. Which quests would you like to accept and to whose name is this under?"

Hyou:

"Hyouketsu, level 10 swordsman. Here's my ID, and I'd like to accept these quests."

He handed over his ID which was placed on top of the 5 cards of quests.

Serena:

"A party of six players means you will all recieve 5000 sbc each, will that be alright with you?"

Hyou:

"Actually I wanted to know if I could own a party bank."

Serena:

"You do fit the requirements, so yes, that is a possibility. For clarification, a party bank is a card that collects money that can be accessed by any player within the leader's party. Are you fine with that?"

Hyou:

"Absolutely. I'd like the 30000 sbc to go directly into it."

Serena:

"Mm'kay, all sorted. Once you have completed all these quests, please hand them to me so I can pay directly. Please come over here for a second."

Directing Hyou to the card counter, she used his card to register a new card which would show who's in his party. Hyou suddenly recieved a notice which was to accept the new card which he then proceeded to press the ¤ button.

(The ¤ button is to accept and the × button is to decline.)

Serena:

"There's your new card sweetie, anything else?"

She handed over his ID card and the party bank card.

Hyou:

"That's all, thank you ma'am."

Serena:

"Take care darling!"

With food finally coming to the table- we collectively agreed to have the standard breakfast since it contained the strength growth boost we needed.

Effie:

"Did you accept the quests and the other thing?"

Santos:

"Other thing?"

Nino:

"Oh, you meaa the baak caad? Oh! We fwinawwy haff we baak caad!"

Keshin:

"Hey! Can it while you're stuffed!"

Nino:

"MFF! Gulp..! Ahh, so mean."

Effie:

"It's manners Nino. You're not a child."

Nino:

"Hmph."

Keshin:

"I'll give you chocolate if you behave."

Nino:

"Yes sir!"

Santos:

"She does behave like one though."

Had Nino heard that, she would've flipped. Thankfully Santos whispered.

Hyou:

"Alright, now that we officially own a bank card, our wallets will now be shared! We'll use this money for basic necessities- but you only if it's a collective thing! If you want to buy something for yourself, you have to use your own money."

Keshin:

"Just to clarify then, I'm guessing general things mean food, equipment and other things. But personal items would be like decorations, outfits and other things?"

Hyou:

"Precisely. Think of the party bank as something used to help us grow as a party."

Effie:

"That's a good way to look at it."

Santos:

"Boss has access to the log history- so don't go buying dangerously expensive staffs again Nino."

Nino:

"Understood."

She really wants the chocolate. I was expecting a 'EH? YOU TRYNNA PICK A FIGHT WIV ME PUNK?'

Maybe that was a bit exaggerated. But it looks like things are starting to shape for this party. This is going to be a lot of fun, for sure. At least the job's not going to be boring!
