Darkness

Living in the void, the emptiness of everything and anything. The passer every few hundred years. They rarely stay and chat but the few that do get the blessing.

Being stuck in nothing for as long as you can remember takes a toll on you. Makes you unhinged and unpredictable. The only thing that can keep you sane is the darkness, the same thing that torments you.

Learning of the world from the passers makes you yearn to be free, free from the shackles that bind you.

The only upside to being alone all the time is the thinking. It makes you wise beyond your years. Never aging in the void had kept my body young and healthy.

Only seeing darkness makes you take comfort in it and in comfort comes understanding. Developing a relationship with darkness makes you gain the strongest of affinity's.

When darkness first spoke it shook me literally and metaphorically. There was no light flash from the usual passer. It came from nowhere and everywhere. It felt like it was almost cracking space with its power.

I was on a knee struggling to breathe but what it said had me smiling.

Darkness: "Do you wish to be free? Do you wish far a way out? Do you want the power to take fate into your own hand?"

"Yes yes and yes I want to leave this place. I want to be free of my prison. Please give me the power to get out."

Darkness: "Very well…. Master."

As darkness said that I felt a searing pain in my left eye.

"Ahhhhhh!" Through gritted teeth "What… was that!"

Darkness: "That was merely a contract from beast to man. It will be your greatest power and your greatest weakness. How you use the power is up to you. But remember don't let your anger get out of control or you could destroy everything."

"Just get me out of here as you promised!"

Darkness: "As you wish master."

And with a slight bow in his dark humanoid looking body he opened a portal similar to the ones used by passers and then disinterested leaving behind a pitch black ring.
