His parents do not have an answer to why he is going through this. He gets angry easily, he sees things that are not there, the elders believe it is a gift from the creator to talk to the ancestors that have passed on. Over the years White Hawk is getting worse, the older he gets the more he realizes that something is not right. Eventually, it will destroy his family and friends until he gets the proper help he needs.

Chapter 8

Then a couple of men by the name of Victor and James came walking by, there were old friends of Jimmy.

"Hey Jimmy," said James walking up to Jimmy.

"Do I know you?" asked Jimmy.

"Sure, you do, it been a long time we used to be friends at one time, I'm James and this is Victor," said James.

"This is my friend White Hawk, it's nice to meet you both," Jimmy putting his hand out to shake.

"That's nice, we're going to hang out, do you want to come, but leave that Indian has to stay here?" asked Victor.

"I am not going to do that, he's my friend, and Indians come from India, the Lakota's run this place," said Jimmy.

"You'd rather hang out with him than with your kind," said Victor.

"I am a half-breed, I don't have a kind," said Jimmy.

"I am also a half-breed but you don't see me hanging out with Indians," said Victor.

White Hawk looked past Victor and saw the figure standing there with hatred in his eyes, and then he looked at White Hawk. White Hawk shook

his head and said.

"I am leaving before I do something stupid," said White Hawk.

"I am coming with you," said Jimmy.

So they walked away.

"All right half-breed you do what you want, but when that Injun turns on you, you know where to find us," said James.

"Whatever man," said Jimmy walking away.

So they both walked home.

"See you tomorrow then," said White Hawk.

"See you tomorrow on the bus," said Jimmy closing the door.

White Hawk was walking across the street to his house when a white car drove up and grabbed White Hawk. He looked and saw Victor and James. They drove to an old abandoned house; they dragged him inside and started beating him.

"Jimmy doesn't like you, he can't stand you," said James kicking him in his ribs.

White Hawk looked out the door and saw the figure again, the figure was walking up to the house.

"How could he tell you that when he doesn't remember you," said White Hawk in pain.

"He knows us," said Victor.

"He wouldn't say that, you're just trying to get us to fight each other, I am not going to do that," said White Hawk.

"Whatever, come on James let's finish him," said Victor.

White Hawk looked at the figure standing above his head and then looked back at Victor and James. They started kicking him on both sides of his ribs, his stomach, his lower back, and throwing him around and punching him.

The figure ran up and started talking to White Hawk in his head, White Hawk looked up right at the figure's eyes, his eyes were like fire, White Hawk had hatred in his eyes, he turned around and smiled, he fought Victor and James, he started kicking them and punching them, then he threw them out the window, breaking the windows and leaving them there on the ground moaning in pain. Then White Hawk looked up and the figure raised his arm and vanished.

White Hawk stumbled back to Jimmy's house, he knocked on the door. He didn't want to go home. Jimmy opened the door and saw White Hawk.

"White Hawk, hurry come in," said Jimmy in a shocked voice.

"Jimmy, oh my goodness, White Hawk are you okay, do you want me to call your parents?" asked Jimmy's mother in a worried voice.

"No I'll spend the night," said White Hawk.

So Jimmy helped White Hawk into his room and laid him down on the spare bed.

"What happened, who did this to you?" Jimmy asked

"It was Victor and James, they grabbed me and threw me in their car and drove to an old abanded house and started beating me. They said you hated me and that I make you feel weak and powerless," White Hawk said in pain and anger.

"Whoa, White Hawk, you know I would never say any of those things, you are my best friend, they want us to hate each other and fight," said Jimmy getting a warm cloth and wiping his face.

"I know," said White Hawk.

When it was morning, White Hawk woke up to Jimmy applying ointments on his sides to make the swelling go down, he was very sore and his sides were tender to the touch. Then Jimmy helped him up slowly out of bed and walked him over to his house and helped him inside and sat him down on the couch.

"Son what happened?" asked Angel.

"It's my fault, I should have walked him home, a couple of guys beat him up last night," said Jimmy.

"That's why I didn't come home last night," said White Hawk in pain.

"Do you want to go to school or stay home?" asked Angel.

White Hawk looked out the window and saw the figure standing there in the street.

"No, I am going, I will be fine," said White Hawk getting up slowly from the couch.

Big Ben walked over to the window and looked out, but nothing was out there.

"What is it?" asked Nuka.

"White Hawk looked out the window for a while, but then I looked and saw nothing," said Big Ben.

So they walked out of the house and walked to the bus stop. When the bus arrived, Jimmy looked at White Hawk with a concerned look.

"Are you sure you want to go to school today?" asked Jimmy.

"Jimmy I'm fine, it only hurts when I move a certain way," said White Hawk.

So they got on the bus and walked to the back of the bus, Victor stuck his foot out and tripped Jimmy. Jimmy fell, and he got up quickly and looked at Victor, then he walked towards the back of the bus.

"Jimmy don't let them walk over you, as they did me if you're not careful they'll rob you blind," said White Hawk.

So the bus drove away and went to school. When it came to a stop at the school all the children and young people got off the bus. Jimmy and White Hawk were the last ones off the bus.

"Hey Jimmy, you still want to be friends with this guy?" asked Victor.

"Yes, it looks like you had a date with him last night," Jimmy smiling.

"Yeah, so," said James rubbing his jaw.

"Why don't you leave us alone?" asked Jimmy.

"What are you going to do if we don't?" asked Victor.

"I will fight you until you leave us alone, and I will make your life miserable," said Jimmy angrily.

"What? You can't fight, we'll beat you to a pulp little man," James getting close to Jimmy's face.

"No, but I can, I proved it last night," White Hawk standing straight up as much as he could.

"I have to give it to Injun, you beat the crap out of us," said Victor walking up to White Hawk.

"Let's finish this," said Victor to James.

"Guys, come on, time for school," said the Native Woman.

"Yeah, we better listen to the teacher," said Victor looking at White Hawk.

White Hawk looked past the Native teacher and saw the figure standing in the doorway, so Victor turned around, White Hawk pushed Victor making him fall on the steps.

"Toka he hwo heenun shun ye wa cetan" (what's wrong, don't do that White Hawk)?" asked the Native teacher.

"Ha ho" (look at this)," White Hawk lifting his shirt.

"They did that last night to him, and this morning they tripped me on the bus," said Jimmy.

"I see White Hawk already handled them, they are bruised as well," said the teacher helping Victor up.

"Don't help that "wa sicha" (white man) that's what he wants you to do," said White Hawk looking at the Native teacher with anger.

"I don't know what's gotten into you lately, but it needs to stop, this is a side of you I've never seen before and I don't like it, now both of you go inside and go to class," said the Native teacher.
