57 The True Longinus

Once Romonus had a general location for Cao Cao, and the True Longinus he returned to his human form. When he turned to Grayfia, Archaon had already exposed his face by retracting the horned helm.

"We better get moving. That ritual I used will start to attract attention to us. Could be from the Divine Court or it could be the Cultivation Sects and Clans."

Grayfia pondered on them.

"Neither is what we want."

He nodded.

"Exactly. There are 10 Major Sects hidden across China and each one has a different specialty. As for the Clans, much like the Clans of the Underworld, they are another ruling power.

Though, all of the Sects and Clans must abide by the laws of the Jade Emperor. Funny enough, he was born human and he rose to godhood through Cultivation."

Grayfia pondered on the art of Cultivation.

"If that is the case why does no other race follow the path of Cultivation?"

There was one simple reason and Romonus explained it.

"Time. In Ancient Times resources that could be used to grow stronger by mages, warriors and even Cultivators were far more common. Gods walked the earth without hiding, monsters were abundant and mana was many times purer than it was now.

That was so long ago that few remember that. Regardless, we better move before any Cultivators show up."

Grayfia nodded.

"Right."

When they both took off into the sky Grayfia's eyes instantly locked onto his wings. Not only did he have three sets of them, but each one was far more Demonic looking than Devils bat-like wings.

Every inch of them was covered in Runic Tattoos of many magic types. At first glance, she could see some Norse, Spirit, Fairy, Dark, and even other systems of magic she didn't know.

He even still had his Khornite Runes of Hatred which were his favorite.

"Romonus, how did you get more wings?"

"A natural mutation."

She felt there was more to it, but she didn't ask. By that point, they had already left the area where Romonus cast his Dark Ritual. Not long after they left a large golden gate opened in the sky and 5 men dressed in traditional Daoist robes emerged.

All of them radiated an aura of power, but it was surpassed by the Cultivator in the middle. He wore red and black robes with two crossed swords on his back showing his Sect Affiliation.

The Divine Sword Sect and their Patriarch had been the ones to send them out at the sensing of foul magic being cast near their territory. When he gazed at the giant still burning Ritual Circle burned into the ground he felt the lingering dark magic cast.

One of his disciples turned to him.

"What do you sense Master Kong?"

Kong Liang the Master of these 4 was a Soul Forging Cultivator in the 5th Realm of 10. In the current day and age, rising higher was much harder than it had been in ages past. What was once considered average foot soldiers had become elites in the modern age where resources were scarce.

"I can sense traces of souls, suffering, and Demonic Energies."

"A Devil?"

Kong Liang shook his head.

"No, this is far too powerful to be a mere Devil. This is a Demon, a true Demon."

Demons were another aspect of the Chinese Pantheon as the Jade Emperor eons ago had defeated a powerful Demon who had almost taken over the Chinese Pantheon and more. This is what he felt.

"One of you inform the Patriarch and our allied sects. Whatever cast this ritual did so quickly and easily. From the residual power I can see, it would be able to fight the Patriarch."

That seemed to make these Sword Cultivators' blood run cold. One of them brought up a good idea.

"Will we have to inform The Ancestor?"

Kong Liang pondered on that.

"No, they are in Closed Door Cultivation. The last thing they need is a battle, but we must be prepared. We are returning at once."

"SIR!"

In his words, the Cultivators returned to their hidden sect. By this point, Romonus and Grayfia were long gone and still flying. He stopped flying and turned back in the direction he cast his ritual. Grayfia stopped wondering what he sensed.

He was a Demon who had senses that a Devil like Grayfia could not even comprehend.

"What is it?"

"Cultivators. 5 of them, 1 of them is at the level of a Ultimate Class Devil. Maybe more since Cultivators have unique abilities."

Grayfia pondered on this.

"What about the stronger Cultivators?"

"They are rare since Cultivation is a steady, but slow path to power. The strongest go through their Divine Tribulations and supposedly become Divine Rank Cultivators or gods. As for how strong they are to regular gods I don't know."

Romonus opened his left hand and summoned Ruin Maker back. He sliced the air in front of him and opened a large dark purple portal.

"Come on."

He jumped through it with Grimaldus before being followed by Grayfia. When they emerged on the other side Grayfia looked around before seeing a small mountain. It was still large, but for a mountain, it was quite small.

However, what Romonus was focusing on was not the mountain, but the home built at the top. The knowledge the ritual fed into his mind told him this was the place. Plus, his own Demon instincts were telling him that the True Longinus was here.

"Is this it?"

He nodded as he turned to Grayfia.

"It is."

Romonus descended fast and landed on the ground. He let Grimaldus down as Grayfia landed next to him. He looked down at his familiar.

"Find him for me."

The Wolverine nodded and began to sniff the ground as Cao Cao was not in the house. For now, still holding Ruin Maker he walked to the house and kicked down the door. The thing about Cao Cao's parents is that they were trash people.

They had tried to sell him just because they faced debts. He wasn't defending Cao Cao either because he had a Hero Complex and wanted to kill all Supernatural Creatures. Romonus just so happened to be one so he was not going to be nice.

Not when it involved a weapon like the True Longinus which he wanted for himself. He would make an exception for the spear as he had no good feelings for God. The moment he kicked the door down he saw a Chinese man who looked a bit like an older Cao Cao.

He saw him panic as he tried to grab his rifle, but Romonus was not even bothered. He just used his will and caused him to fall to the ground unconscious. Grayfia saw as he walked into the house where a woman was hiding in the room. She underwent the same treatment and was forced unconscious.

"Romonus, this is your mission, but why are you doing this to them?"

Romonus walked over to the man and kneeled before placing an armored hand over his head. He dived into the man's memories especially recent ones and he saw a young boy that looked just like Cao Cao.

He had the right place.

"I am doing this because because my magics tell me more than what you would expect. These people are not good people and are planning to sell their son. Though, I am honestly talking big when I am going to kill him."

As he stood up he walked past Grayfia who crossed her arms.

"For the True Longinus?"

"Correct. The spear will probably reject me, but I will use it anyway. Eventually, I will suppress the Will of God in the Spear. I might even corrupt it in time."

"Is the boy even Evil?"

"No. Evil is subjective, but I will say that he will cause his fair share of Issues. I might as well take it for myself."

Grayfia let the subject go as this was not her life.

"Alright then."

Just then Grimaldus returned from the woods and with him, he was pulling an unconscious Cao Cao. Romonus did not know his original name as he had changed his name to his Ancestor after he awakened the True Longinus.

At the moment he looked to be about 16 which was about right.

"Great, how did you get him?"

Grimaldus then began to explain how he had snuck up on Cao Cao who was walking through the woods before hitting him in the back of the head. Romonus chuckled as he could see that Cao Cao did have a giant bump in the back of his head.

"You do hit hard buddy."

Grimaldus snarled as he enjoyed all forms of violence. Romonus now looked at Cao Cao as he reached down and placed his hand on his chest. He surged his Demonic Mana and Soul Energy into his body as he gripped the core of the True Longinous.

When he did so, he felt the spear fight back against him as the Will of God sealed inside felt his Demonic Origin. It tried to destroy him, but because of the modifications Valerie had done to him, he might as well have been immuned.

A massive burst of Light Magic surged from Cao Cao's chest as the Spear was trying to burn his hand. Archaon and Romonus both were durable enough to not react to the effects.

'The Spear's efforts are worthless my Armored.'

'That they are.'

The overwhelming Holy and Light Magic made Grayfia jump away from him as just being around the spear was dangerous for Devils. The Longinus could not fight him for long and from Cao Cao's chest a large ornate spear emerged.

This woke up Cao Cao, but Romonus ignored him and grabbed the shaft of the spear. He pulled it away and gripped it hard as he could feel it trying to fight its way out of his hold.

"No, you don't."

Romonus began to surge his Demonic Mana into the Holy Spear which caused Cao Cao on the ground to convulse. It was still connected to his soul and what he was doing was corrupting it.

This Spear was the same spear that Saint Longinus had used to pierce the side of Christ. The Blood of Jesus Christ had not just made the spear one of the Holiest items in existence, but it also granted it the ability to slay gods.

It had been taken by God and turned into the first Longinus after he sealed a portion of his Will inside. What Romonus was doing now was attempting to take that Holy Relic and turn it from the Light to the Dark.

A truly Demonic thing to do and the sheer amount of Demonic Mana he was surging into the spear was being fought off by the Will of God inside. However, with God dead, the weakened Heaven System and the power Romonus had were working.

Romonus broke the Soul Link Cao Cao had with the True Longinus causing him to fall limp dead. He wondered how much Chaos that caused for Rhavdall, but he focused on the Spear.

Once the Soul Link to Cao Cao was broken he could feel how the True Longinous was trying to return to the Heaven System. Romonus however blocked that off and began to fight the Will of God to connect his Soul to the Spear.

"In that case how is this."

Romonus activated his Devil Trigger and returned to his giant Demon Form. In this state, the amount of Demonic Mana he had at his fingertips was much magnified several times over.

He grinned as he surged an ocean of his Energy into the spear which caused the spear to change. It kept its overall design, however, the blue and gold spear shaft began to change color. The blue color began to be replaced with the darkest of purple while the gold seemed to gain blood red lines.

The Spear tip seemed unaffected by his Demonic Conversation which meant this spear was on its way to becoming a Demonic Holy Spear much like the Sword of Betrayer of Kiba.

Just that the sources of Demonic and Holy Power were far stronger than when he had done it. Romonus did not stop the conversion, but Grayfia noticed something. When she looked up into the sky she saw a barrier start to form around them.

"Romonus we got company."

"I sense them. Cultivators drawn by the power of the spear. Can you hold them off for me?"

Grayfia nodded.

"I can."

She looked down at Grimaldus who seemed to be grinning.

"Can you fight?"

As if shocked she would ask he snarled and he flew into the sky. Just as Romonus said the sky began to fill up with Cultivators who were here thinking a natural treasure or artifact had been created.

They had come for treasure, but they would leave without even their souls allowed to rest.
