Hazel continued to watch as Edgar walked away with Alessandra. She liked the two together regardless of whether anyone thought Alessandra's status was too low for Edgar. "I did. I want to invite her to the palace. Have a day with her and Linda. She would do well running the social circles of this town, don't you think?"

"I don't see that," Tobias said as Alessandra didn't seem like a little social butterfly. "Edgar wouldn't like it."

"It is not for him to like and husbands tend to bend to rules for their wives. If she wants to, Edgar will allow it. Remember my words," Hazel said, turning her attention back to Tobias. "Am I not the only one who controls the king?"

Tobias now saw how Alessandra got Edgar to attend the ball. "You women will be the death of us."
